Slabs and Stairs Placed Wrong
When you place either a slab or a stair on a block, sometimes the server puts it in an incorrect placement. For instance, if you place it in upside down by clicking the upper side of a block, but almost at the bottom, the client will show it correctly for a second then the server will correct the client. I know this is a bug because it is possible to place an upside down half-slab on the side of a right side up half slab.
I have not reproduced in 1.4.4 yet.

duplicates
Well Idk how this can be a duplicate of an older bug report... o.O
Really? No one answering me? I need to know why this is a duplicate of an older bug report... o_O

@Nope. This issue's state is CLEARLY Resolved/Duplicate
@Nope. MC-8 can be a duplicate of this report because this one was created with more details, details that allowed the devs to actually fix the issue. Just because MC-8 was created first doesn't mean it's the best dupe-target for similar issues.
In some cases the content from the newer report will be moved to the older report if the fact that there is an older issue that is the same thing is found, but (especially if there are a lot of linked issues on the newer one and the older one is basically abandoned for 3 years) it won't usually be changed. It doesn't matter, anyways - the issue number is insignificant for most purposes. If having the smallest issue ID mattered, then one could just constantly replace old dupes with other unrelated issues - not necessary and generally a waste of time.
I have experienced the same thing. it is so annoying when building
I've experienced the same intermittently. It'd be helpful to isolate when this occurs. (My hunch is it is related to some type of physics update check that occurs after block placement where some routine incorrectly resets the block orientation to default.)
I dont know if you remember. but back in the days, when you shot an arrow, it warped up a block, i think somehow the same is happinig here.
Check if you are crouching when it happens. In the mod redpower there are small blocks that are placed differently where you place it on the block. But if you crouch the preview shows correctly but it places where your crosshair would be if yoy weren't crouching.
Is this still a concern on Minecraft 1.4.4 Pre-Release? If so, please update the version affected.
Can no longer reproduce on 1.4.4. Marking as such.
Please, if this is still an issue, recreate the ticket noting this ticket in the description of the issue.
Thank you for testing again on the latest Pre-Release.

Can someone explain me why is this a duplicate of an older bug report?
what is the problem of this being a duplicate?
This is not a duplicate. The other report is a duplicate.
