All three character types may encounter this issue of clipping through the floor.

When the player character clips through the floor, it is necessary to Return to Camp and restart the level.
In the attachment, "Minecraft Dungeons 2020-07-09 20-28-24_GolemClip.mp4", the Iron Golem is shown clipping through the floor multiple times after the player character crossed a bridge with powered obstacles which attempt to push characters off the bridge. I pressed no buttons during this time to attempt to summon the Iron Golem, because the pet was already active and following until approximately half-way across the bridge.
I am not sure what causes this behavior to occur, particularly for NPC enemies. I remember seeing only one NPC enemy appear to have clipped through the floor (rather than falling into a valid out-of-bounds area), though I did not capture a movie of this.
