MCL-15908Cannot enter email address in login screen
The text box where I enter my email addy in the login contains a string of letters and numbers and cannot be edited or deleted. The password text box works fine.
Earlier I closed the client but didn't actually logout, and so I don't know why it is asking me to log back in. I've never seen this problem before.
Tried reloading the launcher using the .msi, but it updated to the latest launcher version which, again, doesn't work.

Try clicking "GO BACK", remove the account, and log in with your Mojang Account again
Thank you so much! It works, though the game immediately crashed on startup.
Started again and it seems to be fine so far.
I experience the same bug and here's a few things I'd like to add
Some have told me that they needed to remove the Mojang account and log in again every time they start the launcher.
I've found that renaming the .minecraft folder to .minecraft_backup resolves the issue.
Also logging in to the same account on another computer (in launcher) will also solve the issue.
I also suspect it could be the 'username' field in launcher_accounts.json in .minecraft that is causing this behavior. Possibly deleting this file would resolve this issue.
We've made a slight adjustment to this screen, so the email field should be editable. This will still not fix the issue for why you are running into the malformed data. The quick-fix should still be to go back, remove the account, and add it/sign in again.

It seems like the issue still exists. My email just gets displayed as a weird string out of numbers and letters. Why is that the case?
