Launcher not showing and game not start
hello,
I bought minecraft a little while ago, but the launcher does not start.
at the first time, I see an update window, download the various files, then says "setting up runtime" and other writings, then closes and nothing happens.. it create two processes with the name "Minecraft Launcher (32bit)", but nothing showing up.
i also trying to close them and reopen the launcher (directly from the folder, as administrator, not from the desktop connection), the same thing happens, I see the two processes but on video does not appear nothing, I noticed that in the .minecraft folder there is only one file (launcher_log) and that's it. I attach here both this file and the other 2 log files and the process screen.
things I've tried:
- I followed the
MCL-5569discussion open here proving what they suggested but I did not solve anything. - I uninstalled the game and deleting the various files that remain after uninstalling and reinstalling everything but nothing.
- I have updated all the drivers (both motherboard and gpu).
- I tried to download the alternative download but from the exact same problem with the same identical logs.
- I tried to download an old version of the launcher and it opens, but it tells me "javascript is required to view this site" in the middle and inserting the data (correct of course), it tells me "can not connect to minecraft.net, obviously I have no problem connecting to the official site.

If I understand correctly, the launcher opens but is not visible? Does
MCL-6629describe your issue?nono, if i open the minecraft launcher i dont see anything, only my desktop, i see 2 process on the task manager and nothing else.

no, nothing also on the taskbar
I dont know if it can be useful, I host a craftbukkit server, and opening it does not appear to me anything (but the server opens) and to resolve I had to create a bat that would start the server jar file on the cmd so as to have the console. can it be a related problem? maybe it's something about java ..
UPDATE:I tried to uninstall and reinstall java, as well as the latest version, even the 151 and 171 (suggestions found online), both 32 and 64bit, but nothing has changed.
Reinstalling Java doesn't help here, since the Launcher is a native Windows program and doesn't need Java.

What's bugging me is the line you're getting javascript is required to view this site of an older Launcher version.
Do you have any weird antivirus-, firewall-, parental control-software running on your machine?
Please compare your system to the list of incompatible software.
the only software I have, which are on this list, are discord and geforce experience, both remain open in the background but I almost never use them, as antivirus and firewall use the default windows (I've already checked possible blocks on their part but it's all free), I need to try to close them or uninstall them completely to see if work? however I found an old launcher that allows me to play, this is the minecraft launcher version 1.6.89-j, this works correctly, apart from the fact that in the table "update notes" I see everything white, but at least it opens.
As long as you disable the overlay function in both Discord and Geforce Experience those won't interfere with Minecraft at all.
Windoes Defender & Firewall doesn't do anything harmful.
At some point one of the devs will take care of this issue.
I tried now to disable all the overlay functions of both discord and geforce experience and then I closed these two programs, reinstalling again it still does not work
UPDATE:I think I've found the problem.
I have a m2(ssd) where I have the operating system, the folder "users" and all the subfolders, however, are in a HDD.
In the SSD I created a junction, connected to the folder that is on the HDD so that the pc can work properly, without taking up space on the m2.
Even my friend who has this same thing of mine, has tried to redownload minecraft and not even works for him, his logs are the same as mine, a third friend however, who has a normal PC configuration, has no problems.
Could be due from this then?
I had the confirmation that the problem is what I was talking about in the previous message.
Windows, to make the last update have removed the junction and moved the folder on the SSD, and before returning everything as it was before, I tried and worked properly the launcher, then recreating the junction, minecraft has stopped working again..
I understand that not everyone uses this method, but with old launchers or even with technic and others, it works correctly ..
please fix it...
can someone report the problem to the developers? I discovered what the problem is but it's been a month and I have not received any feedback.. thanks

2 months have passed... is it possible to have a feedback? I also found the problem.. I bought minecraft 2 months and a half ago and I have practically never used it..
Junctions aren't supported by the Minecraft launcher, see
MCL-5294. Please check if setting --workDir to a path to an existing folder (without a junction) fixes the issue.doing so, the launcher doesn't automatically load the profiles that i create. every time I have to recreate them and by recreating them, it detect the old ones.. this every time I open the launcher.. and also if I wanted to use modpack such as those of twitch, I cann't because start as another launcher and I have no way to edit the directory.. but it is possible that with the old launcher there were no problems with the junctions and now yes?? are we going back instead of taking steps forward? just to clarify .. with that so I have to understand that this problem will never be solved, right?
Yes, Mojang decided to no longer support junctions. Am I understanding you correctly that you're using the Twitch launcher to start the Minecraft launcher instead of starting it directly? In that case, you could notify the Twitch launcher team of this issue.
is possible to know what is the lastest version of minecraft launcher that support junction? however, this thing is embarrassing...
