Steps to Reproduce:
- type text, then return, then some more text
- move cursor to the end of the top text line
- use a § modifier than type some more text
Observed Results:
After the modifier is active the cursor visually goes down to the beginning of the line underneath,
and everything typed after deletes the text before the modifier
Expected Results:
The cursor would stay in front of the modifier,
and text before would remain unaffected

This bug is not related to MCPE-174480!
Upon further review,
I think the text modifier by itself triggers the unusual text deleting,
and the cursor visual bug may be entirely unrelated
€ £ ¥ § … ‘ “
all seem to also have this previous text deleting behaviour
This same issue was happening to me when I was trying to use commands in the chat screen (I use iOS as well) This bug makes it impossible to type commands such as (/summon creeper “Hello There”)
I am experiencing this issue on IOS
A workaround is to type the text into another app, then paste that into Minecraft

Yes, I met the same problem
I had the same problem, but with apostrophes and quotation marks. Commas don't seem to bother it. Running the latest update 1.20.31 on an iPad Pro 10" running iOS 16. Tried it with both signs and books. Had the same problem with both.
Also a same issue with Chinese Charactors
Mine just has a visual bug, when I put the §, the green bar that indicates where you are writing, it appears one character ahead.
This is very inconvenient when I type Chinese, the text will ALWAYS be deleted automatically!
This could occurs in Signs, Hanging signs, Chats/Commands, Book & quills, Command blocks etc.
The problems of some Chinese & symbols (like "§" symbol) causes deletes behind.

Mine however is also when I press the apostrophe (this symbol here ‘ ) that it begins erasing my chat when I type
This is a big issue as I use the apostrophe frequently in minecraft.
EDIT: IPad is a 2019 model (no mods, jailbreak or other software alike) Running the latest minecraft bedrock version (1.20.31)

I’m experiencing this issue as well. Anytime I try to use brackets or quotations in commands, it deletes the text previously typed. Unable to use any commands with special characters which is obviously extremely limiting. Looks like a lot of people are experiencing the same issue.
