Steps to Reproduce:
- Try to download DLC of 140 (128?)) MB or more (Star wars (2020) 179.7MB etc.) from the marketplace
Observed Results:
Stalls at Step 1 of 2 100%.Also, if you use this bug, it will take a long time to open the Switch album until you close the game, and there will also be a bug where the world progress is not saved (it will not progress from saving when you close the world).
However, DLC of 123MB or less will be downloaded and imported normally.
Expected Results:
It will be imported normally. Some Switch screenshots show that the DLC (Star Wars and Universal Studios Experience (193MB?)) is imported normally and over 140MB of DLC is being played. It was imported normally on PC and Android.
Other people reported similar issues, but it has been resolved. I tried clearing the Marketplace cache, re-installing the software from the software organizer, and changing the software save destination from SD to the main unit, but it did not resolve the issue. The only solution is to delete all of the Minecraft save data, and my Switch has a lot of survival mode data including over 160MB of world data, and I do not want to delete it. I have previously received a message saying that there is no free space.
When downloading, please make sure that the capacity minus the total storage capacity of storage is 3 to 4 times the download size from 1.5GB.

Almost all behavior can confirm for me in Release 1.21.1 on iOS, but for first behavior, I could not reproduce, it maybe was platform specific, and for second behavior, only items and emotes that were default included are missing for me but none of capes I had were missing. Additionally I have discovered that if I stayed idle with uncached items, they won't be loaded until it had some input, and the tab sometimes reloads on it's own, and would sometimes even refuse to be loaded when entered, requiring an exit and re-enter.
However it had pages and there are more items to preview, so FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) on mine was removed for some items and so less obvious as there were less items that would be taken down in a month or two.
Edit: Can confirm on AniMario's comment, upon that, I wanted to see if Legacy Skin Pack was selectable in Classic skins tab of Dressing Room, and turns out, I can't, however one of workarounds from MCPE-180517 and MCPE-180885 which was by equipping the skin from Marketplace still works, but not for skins from Super Mario Mash-up Pack in Nintendo Switch, as the mash-up pack was not available on My Contents from Marketplace, and it's not searchable, it would only be done by working around to the last good UI, which I cannot access in this version, even via ones I've mentioned in these bugs I've commented on, so those skin pack is effectively locked out of being equipped if not equipped prior update. Plus, it also affects Body part of Character Creator, most notably items that were used by character presets (that resembled the 9 default skins in Java counterpart).
Edit 2: as for MCPE-183307, which is that MINECON 2016 Skin Pack (and Legacy Skin Pack as said above for request) can't be loaded thus missing in Character Creator, I still suspect them and Super Mario Mash-up Pack were missing in Character Creator because they weren't available to be purchased from Marketplace (in recent days), still, you can workaround the issue for MINECON 2016 and Legacy Skin Pack but not Super Mario Mash-up Pack.
Edit 3: as it now affects 1.21.20 (until another backend change there), I managed to find out this bug enabled workaround for Switch players who cannot play multiplayer via Super Mario Mash-up Pack but to have them equipped since former versions, however like previous, equipping one in current version without backend change is impossible.
Reproduction steps can be found here
Edit 4: Affects 1.21.30 (until another backend change), Can reproduce the first symptom, and the workaround from Edit 3 can be performed. Erased Edit 1 to reduce clutter.
With the release of 1.21.20, the final scheduled fix for this problem went into effect and this report was resolved, but the comment just posted before this one tells me that there is still a problem for at least some people. Although the symptoms may be similar, I suspect a new root cause is responsible, and since there was so much activity on this report that can confuse everybody and make it harder to identify this new root case, I think we probably need to create a new bug report for it.
First, though: There were complaints (I'm not sure they were confirmed) about the Marketplace being slow or stuck at about the same time the 1.21.20 release and 1.21.30.23 Preview came out. It seems to be improved today, so AniMario please confirm that this is still happening to you today. (I believe it is, I just need to be thorough.)
Importantly, if there is anyone else watching this bug report who still has a problem after trying the workaround in the current release, please re-comment to say so and state your platform, title, and creator name. (If there are multiple titles involved, it's enough to name one example.) I believe from recent comments that if there's an issue left here, it might affect only Switch users, and if that's true, we definitely want to start a new bug report to track it.
Important update:
Since writing this, I've been informed that the new release may not have filtered through to Switch users yet. If you haven't gotten 1.21.20 yet, please wait until you have it to test whether the problem still applies to you. We may not need a new bug report after all.
AniMario: This issue was resolved and the bug report was closed almost 2 months ago. The issue you are experiencing sounds like the one described by user tlev4577892 in the most recent comments, which we were tracking in MCPE-36670. That issue has also been resolved, but the workarounds published in it solved the problem for tlev4577892 and will probably work for you as well.
If that workaround doesn't solve your problem, you will need to search for another bug report that matches what you're experiencing, or create one if there is none.
Incidentally, please note that commenting or updating bug reports that have already been resolved is risky because in general the staff only watch them for further comments and updates for a short time, if at all. You were lucky this time: I was notified of your update because I authored the report, but I had stopped watching it and wouldn't have seen your edit otherwise.
Also, it's fine to update your comments to correct mistakes, but once a little time has passed, please use a new comment to add or update information. Otherwise, your edit is likely to be overlooked, or even if it isn't, it makes it hard to reconstruct the sequence of events or flow of exchanges between us at a later time. (For example, this comment is nowhere near yours that it's responding to.)
Wolfman1997 and AniMario, Mojang's fix for this issue was applied in 1.21.20, so I need to resolve this bug report but first I want to make sure you aren't left hanging.
AniMario: I just noticed yesterday that your problem is different from the one described in this report. This report is only about the download not completing (Step 1), but your problem is with installing it on your device (Step 2). That problem is seen on some console systems, and in at least some cases it can be solved by deleting content you aren't currently using (via Settings>Storage), restarting Minecraft, and trying the download again. (This only deletes your local copies of the content; you can download them again the next time you need them.) Please try this first. If that doesn't work for you, I'd suggest next that you contact Switch support, as they may be familiar with the problem and have a solution. If you still can't get around the issue, we'll need you to create a new bug report. (I did a search to see if your problem has been described previously and didn't find anything.)
Wolfman1997: You didn't say whether in your case the download is getting stuck at Step 1 or Step 2.
- If it's at Step 1, we need you to create a new bug report, emphasizing whatever you can discover that is different from this report. Comparing what you see with some of the attached screenshots is one way to find such differences.
- If it's at Step 2, the same comments I wrote above for AniMario would also apply to you, except of course that you would contact Xbox support instead of Switch support.
I will continue watching this report through Friday (3 days from now) in case either of you have additional questions. If I don't hear from you, I'll assume you've either solved your problem or will create a new bug report.

I'm trying to import a large DLC of 140MB or more, such as Starwars (2020), to Switch, but it gets stuck at Step 1 157.9MB/157.9MB.
Also, using this bug, when you enter a world and close it, you will get stuck saving and your progress will not be saved. Also, in this state, when I opened the Switch's home → Album, it took about 3 times as long to open.
I tried clearing the cache and reinstalling, but that didn't solve the problem.
If the download gauge is 0MB and it does not progress, clearing the marketplace cache and restarting may solve the problem.
Aug 29 2024) Not fixed as of 1.21.22. It was successfully imported on PC and Android smartphone.
I don't know if this is due to a UI change on the skin selection screen, but in version 1.21.1 Mario skins are not displayed in the list and cannot be equipped.
6/23 We have confirmed that the solution using the old UI does not respond when pressing the changing room button immediately after startup. This made the workaround no longer available.
It seems that the problem that occurred in
MCPE-152216where imported skin packs cannot be equipped on a PC or smartphone does not occur.6/25 I confirmed that it was fixed by updating the server side or without any Minecraft client updates. Thank you for your response.
A similar phenomenon has been confirmed on my PC (including the preview version). My PC had the problem shown in the table above. Additionally, there are cases where the Marketplace L-404 error occurs. On Switch, there is a bug where Mario skins are not displayed in the list.
6/25(JST) I confirmed that it was fixed by updating the server side or without any Minecraft client updates. Thank you for your response.
7/22 I'm having issues with 1.21.20.23
I'm using Google Pixel 8a Android 14, and the same phenomenon as the image occurs. I tried using external file managers and photo apps, but to no avail.
I don't have Realms, but I'm having trouble opening the Marketplace on Switch, but for some reason I can open it on PC and Android. Additionally, the DLC you own is now locked.
This happened to me once, but try using it with all Education edition, DLC, and other textures removed. When used with Edu, DLC, or other textures, it becomes a normal texture and Mario textures are not loaded.
In the Switch version, if you install most DLC with a capacity of 123MB or more (140MB or more confirmed, Star Wars 2020, etc.), a bug will occur where you will not be able to proceed to STEP 2 at STEP 1/2 100%. Also, if you enter a world while downloading in this state, your progress will not be saved, and if you open the album from the Switch home in this state, it will take longer to open than usual. Currently, there is a bug in 1.21.20 that prevents the marketplace from opening, so we cannot verify it. This bug has been confirmed since version 1.19.80. Please note that the import was successful on Windows and Android.
As of 1.21.20, the Marketplace cannot be opened only on Switch, and purchased DLC cannot be opened. Also, the value of Mine Coin is not displayed.
By the way, this is not the only problem; on the Switch version, the Marketplace was able to load normally around 8:00 AM on August 15th EDT time, but after this time the Marketplace could no longer be loaded, and the DLC purchased was also locked. . I was able to open the DLC normally on my smartphone and PC. In addition,
I tried to upload a screenshot to the reporting site, but an internal error occurred and I can't upload it.

Sorry for the late reply. As of 1.21.22, this problem still occurs. The Switch model is a model manufactured around 2018. When trying to download DLC of about 128MB or more, it does not proceed from Step 1/2 100% and the DLC cannot be imported. This may apply to all DLC of 128MB or more. As a last resort, you can erase all your save data, but please note that you will lose all your worlds. Also, if you enter any world with this bug and try to exit and save, you will get stuck on the save screen and it will not save properly, and it will take a long time to open the Switch album.
1.21.30 As of now it is not fixed
This phenomenon occurs on the PC preview, Switch, and Android devices. For some reason, it does not occur on the official PC version. The official version is 1.21.31. The same phenomenon as in 1.21.1 is occurring.
You will see Mickey Mo "ミッキー マ" instead of skinStandardCust
As of 1.21.51, the game freezes for about 3 seconds every 45 to 60 seconds, and also freezes for about 3 seconds when the settings screen is closed. Also, while the game freezes, the in-game time continues to progress, which can cause problems with survival. Also, the game freezes frequently on DLC maps, and the same sound is played repeatedly.{}
In response to MCPE-177765 being reopened, we would like to inform you of the current situation as of 15/Jan/25.
Platform: Probably a 2018 Switch
When trying to download DLC, worlds, textures, etc. that are over 140MB, it stops at 100% of Step 1/2 and does not import properly.
I have tried workarounds 1 to 3 in the past, but it did not solve the problem.
If it does not solve the problem, as stated in the pinned comment of MCPE-36670, there is a final method of initializing Minecraft save data from the Switch management menu after linking it to a Microsoft account, but this is not recommended. All saved worlds will be erased, but if you log in to your MS account again, your achievements and purchase history will likely be restored.
In addition, we have confirmed that some Switches have successfully imported and have screenshots of opening DLC.
If you see a message that there is not enough free space, please see MCPE-36670.
