This one is difficult to reproduce and difficult to pinpoint what exactly causes the error, but I have a few observations.
When using commands that analyze the tags of an Arrow entity (e.g. /scoreboard players tag @e[type=Arrow] add Meh
{inGround:1b}), if there are too many Arrows, Minecraft returns the following: "An unknown error occurred while attempting to perform this command". Such an observation can also be made with commands such as /entitydata @e[type=Arrow]
{...}. In addition to that, even if you only select a single Arrow entity, the error still occurs. (e.g. /entitydata @e[type=Arrow,c=1] {...})
This only occurs if you have very many Arrow entities present (not extremely sure what the cut-off point is, but I reckon about 200).
Has also been tested with cows and zombies, does not happen. Not extremely sure about other entities. (Happens with Spectral Arrows)
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
- Create a world (or just open one up)
- Shoot an arrow in the floor and run this command: /entitydata @e[type=Arrow] {}, and you should see: "The data tag did not change: {...}
"
- Place down a repeating command block and input the following command: /summon Arrow ~ ~20 ~. Power the command block using any form of redstone for about 10 seconds and allow the arrows to fall.
- Run this command: /entitydata @e[type=Arrow] {}, and you will see: "An unknown error occurred while attempting to perform this command"
- This command will also trigger the error: /entitydata @e[type=Arrow,c=1] {}.

Selectors in written books requite player to be operator to workSelectors in written books require player to be operator to work
Usage of selectors in books don't work, unless the player being given the book is an operator. Basically, let's say you have such a command (placed in a command block):
{\"selector\":\"@p\"}
{{/give @a written_book 1 0 {pages:["[\"\",]"],title:Book,author:Me}
}}When the command block is powered, a player who is an operator will receive a book, which on its first page will have his IGN printed.
A player who is NOT an operator will receive a book with an empty first page.

In 1.10, Mojang made it such that, if a Skeleton holds a tipped arrow in its offhand, it will shoot that tipped arrow when attacking. This no longer works in 16w32a and 16w32b.
Steps to reproduce:
{id:"minecraft:bow",Count:1b}
1. Use the command/summon minecraft:skeleton ~ ~ ~ {HandItems:[,{id:"minecraft:tipped_arrow",Count:1b,tag:{CustomPotionEffects:[
{Id:18,Duration:100}]}}]}
2. Get shot by it.
3. Notice that you don't get Weakness.

Okay, this problem didn't surface in the previous snapshot because conditional command blocks were completely broken. Anyway, the issue is that the SuccessCount tags on conditional command blocks are simply not being updated. This causes the following issues: If you have a chain of conditional command blocks following a repeating command block (always active) done in this manner:
Repeating command block/testfor @a[r=3]Conditional chain command block/say helloConditional chain command block/say helloWhat happens is that the chat will spam with "hello" from both first and second conditional chain command blocks when a player is withing 3 blocks of the repeating command block. When the player exceeds the 3 block range, the second conditional chain command block will continue to execute the command. This hence defeats the purpose of having a chain of conditional command blocks.

Confirmed for 15w37a as well.
Can you please clarify what you mean by that?
What I'm saying is, in a situation where a non-operator player is given a book that makes use of selectors, they don't work. I don't believe this is an invalid report, would you kindly review it again?
No, the player does NOT execute the command. The command is executed by the command block. It is also not possible to use /trigger to work around this limitation. I want to display the player's NAME in the book.
In the case of a command
/give @r written_book 1 0 {pages:["[\"\",{\"selector\":\"@p\"}]"],title:Book,author:Me}, if the player randomly selected by @r is an OPERATOR, then it will display his name correctly on the first page. If the player randomly selected by @r is NOT an operator, then the first page will be blank.
No commands are run by any non-operator, this behaviour is just inconsistent and does not work. How does this work as intended?
Yes, I guess it does. Maybe you can merge the two threads? There are many ways this issue can be described and although both bug reports are reporting the same bug, the behaviour observed is different.
Yes.
Confirmed for 1.10.
Why is this bug still here? I'm pretty sure the bug is actually very easy to fix, just that the developers are unaware of it.
That would seem to be the case.
Confirmed for 17w06a.
Confirmed.
Confirmed for 17w18b
Seems to be the case indeed... Unless maybe we're doing it wrongly.
Confirmed, I hope this isn't intended though.
Is it possible to reopen this? Unpredicted behaviour as you mentioned is acceptable, but not being able to stack items this way is rather irritating and cannot be done by commands anymore. This breaks so many adventure/pvp/whatever maps out there. Can this be brought to attention?
MC-105965this was also marked as "works as intended", and this is rather conflicting.I would just like to ask if it was marked as working as intended by a developer or a moderator as I feel that the developers would not unnecessarily mapmaking functionality without providing a good reason
Is there really no case for reopening this one? I'm sure that once more mapmakers start to update their maps for 1.12 they'll realize that there's a compromise of previously capabilities.
Confirmed for 1.12-pre6.
Confirmed (as of 1.12-pre7). Doesn't make sense that it count towards that statistic.
I face a similar circumstance. There has yet been a satisfying, rational reason that they have provided that this change was made. Furthermore, the fact that this change hasn't even been mentioned in any changelog is suspicious and characteristic of an accidental change. I understand that the report has been marked as works as intended, but there surely is the chance that it has been marked so by a mod, and seeing it as marked, Grum skimmed over it even though it was assigned to him?
Confirmed for 1.12.
The mentioned issue does not mention that getting killed by other players causes the crash as well.
Nope, Adventure Mode.
Can confirm for all 1.13 snapshots.
Confirmed for 49a, 49b, 50a
Confirmed for all 1.13 snapshots
I've experienced it on every snapshot, yes.
I'm having a lot of difficulty pinning down the reason for the crash - I was hoping the crash report would bring something to light. When I look in certain directions or stand in certain spots (I can't really ascertain which directions and which spots) I crash when clicking the respawn button.
I can't reproduce this buy in a new world...
Any idea what may cause this?
I do have commands that do /setblock for the chests at those positions.
I'm not sure what you mean, but currently I'm facing some issues where the entity:{} part of condition{} doesn't work for some reason.
I'll go ahead and say I confirm this bug report, even though it is unclear. Essentially, entity "nbt" cannot be used for conditions currently.
Bug present in 18w14b.
Affects 18w15a.
It seems like it has something to do with RedrawNear taking up a lot of the rendering power for whatever reason.
While I cannot consistently reproduce, it has happened to me before, every so often. I cannot locate the reason for this bug to occur. It might not have to do with facing North but I am not entirely sure. On a side note, I have observed this bug occurring since 1.9 snapshots.
This may be a different issue from the one that it "duplicates" as this is a very reproducable bug - update a world from 16a to 20a and it is obvious that it occurs. On the other hand, the bug that it supposedly duplicates is rather inconsistent and not readily reproducable, suggesting that it may stem from a different issue in code.
Confirmed for 1.13-pre1.
I'm getting about 10-15 TPS on a world that has nothing going on. I'm pretty sure this is a bug, an a huge bug as well.
TPS at 15 on a superflat world... :/
I would confirm this issue. From my testing, it appears as though baby pigmen (and zombies/drowned) now think that they can fit in 1/2 block tall spaces if it is a bottom slab and will attempt to pathfind to the player through 1/2 block tall spaces. I suppose that would make this issue a bug?
I can confirm this issue. Also, @Matthew I don't think it's related to
MC-92466.Yes, it is still an issue in Minecraft 1.31.1.
Confirmed for 18w44a.
Not sure if it's just me, but this problem is WAY worse in 19w05a.
Bug still present in Release 1.15.1
