While using 'Jump Boost' and 'Speed' potions effects the player looses a significant amount of forward momentum. This is less noticeable with level I and II speed, but it is present. It is a becomes more noticeable with a higher level speed effect.
Video link demonstrating issue.
Note the player has Speed III and Jump Boost. Their speed instantly reduces when they jump and the angle of their jump is steep. It is almost as though forward movement speed is set to walking when a player jumps with jump boost.
This feels somewhat unnatural, the angle should be shallower

#NOTE - THIS EFFECTS SURVIVAL AND CREATIVE#
Protection and attacking based enchanted books, when combined cause the enchantment in the second slot to be erased.
Replication:
1. Combine Sharpness III book with Bane of Arthropods III
2. The resulting enchanted book will have the enchantment from the first slot, Sharpness III, effectively erasing the Bane of Arthropods enchant.I expected this combination to not work.
Enchantments affected:
Attacking based enchants - Sharpness, Smite, Bane of Arthropods
Protection based enchants - Protection, Fire, Blast, and Projectile Protection
Mining based enchants - Silk Touch, FortuneThis bug will work with the above enchants having different levels also.
See screenshots for examples.
#NOTE - THIS ONLY EFFECTS SURVIVAL#
The anvil will not allow you to combine two enchanted books of the same enchantment in survival.
In the previous snapshot, it was possible to combine enchanted books this way and get a higher level enchantment. (i.e. two sharpness IV books created 1 Sharpness V).
See picture for more details.

EDIT-
This issue relates to MC-4578. Whether it is intended to be able to combine enchanted books or not, the issue described in
MC-4578should not be happening in survival mode.

You need to press the Function keys while holding an Fn type key. It is usually a different colour and next to the Ctrl or Alt keys.
You should be able to change what functions are used by default in your keyboard settings (if you use a laptop you may need to change it in your bios settings).
Thanks
Does the author of this bug mean that stone stairs should be named cobblestone stairs, in line with other derivatives of cobblestone?
I agree with Ali. It would seem reasonable to expect that if right clicking Villagers (a mob that can't be 'bred' by the player) with a spawn egg produces a baby villager, right clicking a Zombie (Villager or Human) would do the same, and create a baby of that species.
This still applies in 1.4.5.
Also, it does not apply to books that have already been written in. Only new, un-edited books.
Gabe it has nothing to do with lag. Try it yourself and see. Get down to ground level and see they are floating two pixels above the ground.
What do you mean? How can it be infected by another villager? It makes no difference what Zombie infects it. The head size of an infected baby villager is the same.
Bug seems to occur in a variety of situations, above or below a block, regardless of the block used.
The only exception is when three bars/panes extend over a three solid blocks. The middle block/bar/pane will not experience Z-fighting then.
It's two block pixels Talven, which is 1/8th of a block.
Also unable to reproduce in survival.
If you did this in survival, are you certain you downloaded the snapshot correctly?
You can combine tools in the same manner = 2 Efficiency IV pickaxes can produce an Efficiency V on the anvil.
I should note this bug only happens in Survival, if you combine the books in Creative it does produce improved enchantments.
Shouldn't it not combine instead?
Yes, the voice of Ron Swanson is right.
I think there is some confusion here. In creative mode, you CAN combine enchanted books, to have multiple enchantments on one book. Therefore, what I describe in this bug report, would not be an issue, as that is the way the tool system behaves. (Conflicting enchants erase each other.)
However, the bug I am reporting is for survival mode. In survival mode you CAN'T combine enchanted books to produce books with multiple effects.
Therefore, the above combinations should not produce anything when placed on the anvil, as it is part of a feature not implemented for survival.
Unless we are meant to be able to combine books in survival for multi-enchant books?
Would it be possible to have a mod reopen this issue?
I don't think Dinnerbone fully understood the issue when he closed it.
Melons can be mined faster with a sword, but it takes two points of durability from the sword. (It also takes two durability points to use a sword on a pumpkin).
The sword also mines a pumpkin just as fast as a sword mines a melon, but the axe is faster.
It makes no sense that the sword should be the tool of choice for mining a melon.
Still present in 13w07a.
This bug is unusual, items will be erased until one of an item remains for each inventory slot. The hopper will also not erase items that do not stack.
I would say this is intended. The last snow layer in the stack has no always has no collision.
Try placing 4 and compare it to a slab.
A knife could also be use to cut a pumpkin stalk. Should we change the pumpkins tool too?
I might agree with you if the sword did not take two durability points and mines as fast as an axe on a pumpkin. But it does not.
Furthermore, in a recent update the fortune enchantment was fixed to work with melons. (It might be an older update). Can you get fortune on a sword in survival? No. (And looting does not work on melons.)
Based on this reasoning, and the reasoning in my previous post, I still think this bug post was closed in error and that the current system is not working a intended. A weak analogy won't sway me.
Please can it be reopened, or at least looked at by Dinnerbone, Jeb, Grum or Evil_Seph.
Or change one line of code to make axes work fast for melons.
You get more benefits with fewer changes. Including instamining melons. (Swords don't have access to efficiency).
This issue is very similar to the wooden slab/pickaxe issue we had a few versions ago. Or the one where redstone always took ages to mine no matter what pick you had. I would class those as bugs.
