The game will crash if you attempt to use a shader effect on older Mac hardware that uses Intel integrated graphics and drivers that only report OpenGL 1.2 support, yet have enough extensions that the shaders should still be able to work. Crash report follows:

They do read bug reports, because the various developers occasionally comment, assign themselves to bugs, fix the bugs, and mark them fixed. However, there are over 2000 open reports, and over 40000 total reports on the tracker. Most of which are garbage, either because they're duplicates, incomprehensible, or not actually bugs. It's a lot of work to sift through it all looking for valid issues to address. And despite how many employees Mojang now has, very few of them are actively developing Minecraft. Something like 5, now that Mog (Ryan Holtz) and [Mojang] Searge (Michael Stoyke) have joined the team.
The vote count also figures into putting priority on fixing bugs. This one is also obviously not an issue for many people, as there are only two votes (one of them's mine!), and zero duplicate reports. The thing is, no matter how quick and easy it would be to fix something, there's still hundreds, if not thousands, of other things all demanding the same time and attention. Fixing this would mean something else gets put off, even if it's only by 5 minutes. With so many people filing reports, some of them are bound to be put off, no matter how fast they work.
Also consider that fixes based on decompiled code are useless to the Mojang developers, because it's nothing like the actual source code. I'm kind of surprised this bug survived the big code review, however.
I mentioned MC-12413 because the issue you're describing sounds like Mog (Ryan Holtz)'s fix for MC-12413. Read his comment there.
Mog (Ryan Holtz): Works after manually adding to language file.
Issue is invalid
And Mog (Ryan Holtz), as wonderful as he is, primarily focuses on technical aspects like the rendering code, not gameplay. @Dinnerbone, @jeb_, @_grum, or even @SeargeDP all would have been better people to point such a question at.
You'll have to consider that people play Minecraft in a wide variety of ways, and that the way you play is not universal, not how the developers themselves play, not how many other people play, and thus not that big a deal to most of them. They may not really understand why this is a problem for you. It's probably not very high-priority, because it doesn't interfere with how they expect the game to be played. But tickets being marked duplicates of a private ticket strongly suggests that they're treating it as a possible exploit, even if it's not a high priority. The mods here have repeatedly stated that private tickets are only to be used for serious exploits or where personal information is at risk, and have changed the security settings on many tickets from private to public as a result.
This isn't a lighting glitch, this is mipmapping or anisotropic filtering at shallow angles.

Resource packs for 1.7 currently work in the snapshots. However, I was told by Mog (Ryan Holtz) that they have plans for further changes to resource packs between now and the release of 1.8 that will break compatibility and necessitate updating them. This isn't change just for the sake of change, there will be added value, similar to the transition from texture packs to resource packs. I realize that it's not present in the snapshots yet, and thus you're not in a position where you can see the benefit.
I may not know as much about the model format as you do – I didn't bother researching it, because I knew it was going to change – but that doesn't mean I don't understand the issue. The texture wasn't rotated to "save less than a lunch-break's worth of time". It was done because it made more sense to the person making the model, and maintaining compatibility with 1.7 was not important because the pack format is going to change anyway. Yes, the could have done it differently. But it wouldn't have been worth it in the long run. When you're building something that you have to maintain and update for a long time, it's important that it makes sense to you. The harder it is to keep it in your head and understand it, the more likely you'll make mistakes when you edit it in the future. It's better to break compatibility now, when they're making large changes to the format that break compatibility anyway, rather than later, possibly by accident.
Altering the model just to avoid rotating the texture is just going to cause more conflicts, because everyone else is just going to rotate the texture. What you're suggesting isn't the "clean" way – it's encumbered with the history of the format. It's a decision that won't make any sense out of the context of that history. Why have the texture facing a different direction than the model, and have to rotate it in the model? The only reason to do so would be for backwards compatibility, which won't make any sense a version or two down the road. You're trying to save resource pack creators from a one time change, at the cost of making development slightly more difficult for Mojang in the future. You seem to be assuming that they'll never touch the models or textures again, which, considering the past, doesn't seem like a safe bet.
I'm not here to defend Mojang. I'm here to be an advocate for sense. Some of my comments across the tracker have been critical of their decisions, but I've remained polite in expressing them, and respected their right to make decisions about their product. I'm here to help make Minecraft better, by helping organize and maintain tickets, and communicating between the developers and the users. They're fully aware that this ticket exists – several of us moderators have brought it to their attention, and asked for them to comment. They gave us their reasons, but did not wish to waste the time arguing about it. I've attempted to pass that information on for your benefit, but as predicted, you do want to argue about it. They've made the decision they thought would be best in the long run, and felt that having to rotate a single texture was a reasonable cost. Bigger changes are still coming, but their benefits should be far more obvious.
It is true that one of the goals of the plugin API is to provide a stable interface, so that in many cases, plugins will work across different versions without requiring them to be updated. Given how resource packs and plugins will probably work together in the future, I can see how resource packs might be expected to have the same goal. However, I don't believe that's ever been stated by Mojang, and Mog (Ryan Holtz) just confirmed that it's not currently the case.
Considering that resource packs are one of the things that are stored in the profile-specific game directory (if you specify one), it should be apparent that they are not intended to be compatible across different versions. The resource pack format is still in flux, and they plan to add more features to it. Attempting to maintain compatibility with older versions could make improving resource packs – and developing the plugin API – significantly more difficult. Resource pack creators should provide version-specific downloads if they wish to support multiple versions of the game.
Mog (Ryan Holtz) Can we actually get some insight about why this won't be fixed?
This is actually a duplicate of MC-30877, which Mog (Ryan Holtz) fixed in 14w21a. So it turns out crops not responding to light updates was a bug, and not an intentional change.
After merging the different development branches each of the team members were working on for the past three months, they decided that they needed to make some changes to the models, and Mog (Ryan Holtz) decided to address this at the same time. They didn't deliberately set out to break compatibility with older packs, but couldn't justify the extra complexity at the time when they knew they weren't done with the model format, and would have to do additional work on the models again later.
Works as intended, then. Use a damage value of 0 for an unbreakable sword.
Mog (Ryan Holtz) designed the rabbits on his own, and didn't plan to add them to Minecraft officially, but others on the team approved of them.
They haven't been spending a lot of time on "content" (bunnies were something Mog (Ryan Holtz) made in his spare time), or concentrating on specific bugs, because they're currently busy ripping out and rewriting core parts of the game code, and may inadvertently fix numerous bugs in the process without specifically attempting to. There's not much point in spending time and effort "fixing" bad code that you're going to replace anyway.
The work they're doing on how blocks are defined, stored, and loaded may fix this issue, as well as numerous other bugs. Or it may require them to rework entity physics, or how they're loaded, which would also solve other bugs as well. Regardless, they're trying to spend their time efficiently, so that more bugs get fixed in the same amount of time. That does mean that some of the more complicated bugs will take longer to fix, and this bug has already survived several focused attempts to eradicate it.
Even if this doesn't get fixed as a side effect of other work they're doing, that work will still make it easier for them to fix this when they next make a specific attempt to do so.
Forward resolving to MC-64222, which Mog (Ryan Holtz) has marked as Works As Intended.
I'm guessing it has something to do with MC-28469, though I'm still not certain what the reporter there is trying to say. But fluids do require some special rendering, and with all the recent changes to the rendering engine, that's probably why this doesn't work anymore. I'm guessing "Won't Fix" would be a more appropriate resolution here, but I'll have to ask Mog (Ryan Holtz) what he meant when he marked this WAI. They didn't really intended for players to use fallingsand entities for anything like this, so making this special case work probably isn't worth it to them if it would hurt the performance of the rendering engine.
Mog (Ryan Holtz) believes he's got this one fixed, and you should probably see massive improvements in the next snapshot.
Reassigning as a duplicate of MC-57247, which Mog (Ryan Holtz) just fixed. Look for improvements in the next snapshot.
Mog (Ryan Holtz) has made some pretty significant improvements to item rendering in the next snapshot.
Read what Mog (Ryan Holtz) writes in MC-70336 and MC-68232
Mog (Ryan Holtz), you didn't read it carefully enough. The reporter has improved the text now, I can confirm this bug. Nevermind, Mojangsta's know how stuff is supposed to work.
MC-64222 was resolved as "Working as Intended" by Mog (Ryan Holtz)
Forward resolving to MC-64222, which Mog (Ryan Holtz) has marked as Works As Intended.
There is nothing to explain on the Wiki. Mog (Ryan Holtz) resolved this as Working as Intended.
Introduction
Most of this behavior can be reproduced near the world border: /tp 29999950 29999950
Some of the strange rendering can also be seen closer to the center of the world but not in such an extreme way.
Reason for this bug
The 32-bit float simply run out of resolution/accuracy with the large coordinates. The solution is a bit of "ugly", but it got the work done, as I'm looking at perfectly fine wires at coordinates near X&Y of 17,000,000.
There are more unnecessary (and sort of harmful) (float)-casts in that same method, but they are for Y-coordinates, and since Y-coordinates are, for the time being, very limited, they do not show similar problems. (That whole class seems to be littered with those float-casts, many of which seem to be unnecessary and possibly causing similar issues for other blocks/visuals.)

Other bugs caused by this
Fix for fire's smoke
This time no source code as the changes cover almost the whole method. But its the very same fix, in BlockFire.randomDisplayTick(), change floats to doubles and remove casts to float when the variables are handling coordinates. This also includes sound generation coordinates.
comment by Markku onMC-3718
Affected entities, blocks or particles
The following is based on a decompiled version of Minecraft 1.10 using MCP 9.30.
Falling blocks
The offset is probably caused by the method net.minecraft.client.renderer.entity.RenderFallingBlock.doRender(EntityFallingBlock, double, double, double, float, float). The texture being too large, shifted and rotated is caused by something else.
Particles
Apparently only affects particles created under certain circumstances
- Landing particles, see
MC-76810created by Mog (Ryan Holtz) - Particles created by the /particle command
- TNT explosion particles
- Green bone meal particles
- barrier particles
- MCP 9.35 rc1 name
Method: net.minecraft.client.multiplayer.WorldClient.showBarrierParticles(int, int, int, int, Random, boolean, MutableBlockPos)
- MCP 9.35 rc1 name
Rain and snow
Rain and snow renders as large white lines when you are at a very high y-coordinate. This does however only happen for large y, but not for x or z coordinates.

Propose closing as invalid. The pie chart is a CPU load chart, it has nothing to do with memory usage.
In the context of CPU load, it makes perfect sense and is not a bug; the engine must busy-wait until the GPU is ready for the next frame.
This bug should be fixed as of 1.7.2, please re-check.
MC-31785has been fixed for nearly a month now. Seems like it's about time to re-test this bug to see if it's still valid. Is this with mipmapping or anisotropic filtering turned on? That's an important distinction to make in texture bugs like this one.
This is not a bug, it is functioning as intended. Previously, Minecraft was inconsistent in whether or not a tree's growth would be obstructed by a log in its way, as well as inconsistent in what type of log would obstruct what type of sapling (if any).
As of 13w36a and later, the tree feature generation code has been refactored to make use of one common base function to check if a given block is "free" or not, with the generation of the tree failing if a block is not reported as free. Based on the current code, the following types of blocks will be replaced and not prevent the generation of a tree, and any block not in the list will prevent it:
Again, as Carl seems to have updated his bug an hour after my most recent comment while completely ignoring what I said: The pie chart seen in the screenshot is NOT measuring memory usage. It measures CPU usage.
What good would a memory usage graph that only shows you percentages rather than actual quantifiable amounts be, anyway? In the 8 years that I've been a programmer in the video game industry, I have never seen a game that uses "percent" as a memory usage metric, and Minecraft is no different in that respect.
Please do not submit the same bug multiple times.
This is a feature request, not a bug. The issue with not being able to see the surface of water from below has been resolved. Beyond that, as well-written as the bug is, it has little to no relevance to how the Minecraft engine actually works.
Resolved by allowing players to see the surface of water from below. Beyond that, no further changes are planned.
Fixed by making the leftmost column of the arrow graphic only appear when the furnace is lit, and making only the bottom row of pixels of the flame always appear when smelting rather than the bottom two rows.
As much as I can appreciate a clear and well-written bug, as such things appear to be in very short supply these days, backface culling will not be turned off for stained glass and water.
In the case of the water's surface it was an actual usability issue as it was difficult to gauge your depth without a visible pattern to reference against visually. In the case of stained glass, it is a simple matter of consistency: Regular glass and stained glass does not have backface culling disabled. I do not buy the "depth perception" issue as one can clearly see the point at which the stained glass meets the ground, and the fact that the stained glass texture and the block texture on which it rests will be the same size is a perfectly acceptable visual cue.
To head off any potential re-filings, it could also be argued that the consistency issue can be resolved by disabling backface culling on regular glass as well, but that would be too "busy" visually, and would also not be consistent with the Minecraft look-and-feel in general. Yes, it would be a simple change, but a change being easy to make is not a priori justification itself for the change. Indeed, the change being easy to make is more a point in favor of it being done via a mod or eventually through the plugin API rather than in favor of it being done in vanilla.
Actually had to do with an incorrect alpha cutoff value when rendering entities. Entities are not and should not be marked translucent, because they aren't translucent.
Works as intended. There is no normal way of obtaining a wood block with this data value, so it cannot be expected to behave normally on placement.
"With inventory" is not sufficient information to determine if this is a bug. How full is the inventory? How many times did the command block's command succeed?
Bug is not valid. Only getting 102fps without shaders indicates fairly anemic hardware already, and the shader in the screenshot is particularly performance-heavy.

What?
Added code to disable both mipmapping and aniso when rendering the item in-hand. Appears to resolve the artifacting.
Should be properly fixed in the latest snapshot and the next full version, please reopen if not.
Can you give more information about this bug? I can't understand what the bug is supposed to be.
Faulty logic is being used to justify this being a bug. Regular glass works fine because it is alpha tested, not alpha blended. These are two different things. Alpha testing is supported on entities, alpha blending is not.
Works as intended.
Marking as fixed on the assumption that this is the same issue that I fixed earlier this week. Very hard to confirm if this issue is the one that I fixed without any screenshots, however, as it is possible to take a screenshot with the inventory up using the PrtScr key and pasting into a paint program, or if one's keyboard lacks a PrtScr key, using one of the multitudinous screenshot programs that exist like Greenshot.
Turns out a different bug was fixed in 1.7.2 that was causing similar visual issue. The issue pictured in this particular filing is actually an entirely different bug having to do with transparency issues that occur at the origin or on multiples of 1024 on X/Z, which I've since fixed for the next version.
The moderators would have reopened it anyway, you don't need to be demanding about it. It was fixed, but due to unfamiliarity with Git, I managed to commit the fix but not actually push it to the master branch, so I would appreciate it if the moderators would re-resolve the issue.
User claims the bug is fixed
Please provide more information. This message is displayed for roughly the first 30 seconds or so after starting Minecraft, as the Twitch integration needs time to contact the ingest servers and such, but it should go away once it's fully ready.
There is no available estimate yet as to if or when Linux will be supported by Twitch.
Can you provide a description of the bug, please? The screenshots alone are not very illuminating.
The issue was fixed for all of the items I tried. I don't know, maybe you could do me a favor and tell us which items you're trying it with and which texture pack you're using? Unfortunately, I'm not Dionne Warwick.
WAI
Ah yes, Mojang has "abandoned you" because we haven't dropped everything to work on this one specific bug out of thousands...
Don't worry, I'm not upset, it's just that while this issue with mineshaft.dat may be causing these other issues, I still need to track down exactly why the file is becoming bloated in the first place. Unless there are comments that I'm not seeing, that question is still very much up in the air and will be a bit of a bear to track down.
As OpenGL is a complete heap, it turns out that Framebuffer Objects (FBOs), which are what Twitch uses to stream, can be supported three different ways: Either using OpenGL 3.0 (which doesn't apply here as none of the users reporting the issue have an OpenGL version over 2.1), or via two possible different extension methods (ARB or EXT).
Minecraft was previously only checking for FBO support via the possible EXT extension, but as it turns out, there are drivers out there that will report supporting ARB but not necessarily EXT. It's anyone's guess as to why that is. At any rate, I've added additional reporting to this particular error message to indicate whether the driver reports supporting the ARB and EXT versions of FBOs, and re-written the message itself to be more accurate. If your cards don't support OpenGL 3.0 and don't support either the relevant ARB or EXT, though, then you're out of luck.
Yes, there are still definite issues with water's visibility when inside a water block. That said, my objection to backface culling being turned on for stained glass is irrelevant to this bug.
Fixed properly for 1.7.3
Already fixed. Do us all a favor and actually check with the latest version first before filing bugs.
And if it is, please, PLEASE hold F3+C for 10 seconds while in-game in order to cause a crash, then post the log here. This issue is unequivocally a bug with your video driver, not a bug with Minecraft, and as such we would be very interested in knowing your GPU vendor, version and type.
Can you try describing your issue in English, please?
Yes, it is a duplicate of
MC-31896.That's great. Good for you. It's a duplicate of
MC-31896. How many times are we going to have to repeat this? Why are you responding to a resolved bug that was resolved a month ago?
Makes perfect sense when considering the fact that you're referring to the item name using its internal string, not a localized string.
They are the internal names. I have the actual, un-obfuscated source code sitting right here in front of me. You don't. Works As Intended.
What is a "horse invisibility potion", and how can it be horse armor or "saddle horse"?
Marked invalid due to lack of information.
Thanks, Kyle! Your optimizations look good and we've rolled them into the code.
Technically, as it's not a "bug", we have to mark the bug as Invalid in order to close it out, so don't worry! If you end up with any other optimizations, especially involving ways to appease the branch predictor, feel free to e-mail them to me directly at mog-external@mojang.com so you don't have to go through Mojira again.
Thanks again!
Yes, that's correct.
According to insomniac lemon, having vectorized art in a 512x512 logo was too dissimilar to the Minecraft style. I suggest you take it up with him, not that we plan to change the logo again.
Oh well!
Pane. The word is "pane". Given the fact that glass panes can't suffocate you, does it really matter that you can place them if someone is standing on the same block location as where you want to put the pane?
Cannot reproduce. Please provide more details (video settings, etc.)
System specifications and actual hard numbers would be a lot more helpful.
Did they ever?
What if you don't have Brightness set on "Bright"?
Then it's not a bug, it's a feature request. Please do not use Jira for feature requests.
That's not correct, Andrew. The Sky Light value is not supposed to change. That was kind of the whole point of the lighting re-write that occurred a couple of years ago, the Sky Light value determines how much of the sky light portion of the lightmap is used when drawing the block, and the Block Light value determines the same for the block light portion of the lightmap. The day/night cycle is rendered simply by changing the lightmap, not by actively updating the sky light value anymore. While I appreciate the input on the bug, it would be better for everyone if you gave accurate, relevant information to the discussion at hand.
Anthony, your information is incorrect. A memory leak by its very definition is a program retaining allocated memory that is no longer referenced, such that the memory is never deallocated across the runtime of the program. That is most assuredly not what is happening here. I suggest reading Poweruser's description of the issue, as he is 100% correct.
It is by definition not a memory leak, as all of the memory in question is in active use by the NBT system. Mineshaft.dat effectively contains a massive NBT structure containing data on every structure piece of every mineshaft in the entire world, which is highly inefficient in terms of memory usage, but is not a memory leak by any definition currently in use in the programming field.
Poweruser, thank you for the analysis. While we currently have no ETA regarding a resolution for this bug, your information is very helpful in explaining the root cause of this issue.
There's been a fairly massive amount of refactoring going on between 1.7.2 and the current snapshots. Some of these refactors may affect the overall frame rate, not the least of which is the conversion of block coordinates from a simple X, Y, Z tuple to a proper encapsulating class. One may as well compare the frame rate in a version of Infdev to 1.7.2 and claim that the decrease in frame rate is a bug - progress has its costs. If you're still managing to hit well over 60fps, this is not a valid reason to re-open the bug.
To be sure, we are continually working on improving the engine, and with these improvements could potentially come some optimizations, it's just that in the near term we are concentrating on global engine cleanups that could make it easier to make optimizations in the future.
According to the log that you posted, you have shader effects active:
[16:38:24] [Client thread/INFO]: Selecting effect minecraft:shaders/post/color_convolve.json
Does this issue occur when you don't have shader effects active?
"Fixed" by making the game return bright magenta as the grass color if it tries to access outside the bounds of the texture's pixel array. There's really nothing we can do to make it return correct values if the user has had a lapse in judgment and resized the texture, so bright magenta should serve as a good "Hey, buddy, don't do this" flag.
Clever userses, they tricks us!
Not intended, fixed for upcoming snapshot.
Good catch. Fixed for the next snapshot.
This is a dupe of a Hopper bug that I specifically created for this issue, but I'm not sure what the issue ID was. At any rate, it's fixed now.
Nice catch, I added a ColorModulate uniform to flip.fsh but forgot to set a default value for it in flip.json.
Fixed, I made the game turn off the shader when in third-person mode and spectating a mob. I also made F4 into a toggle rather than an instant-off.
Thanks, Daniel! The fix looks good and I've applied it to our codebase, it'll be in the next snapshot.
Incidentally, this is the second job I've had now where a bug has been caused by AMD playing fast-and-loose with graphics APIs, though it was DirectX at my previous job and OpenGL here. Good to know they handle either stack equally badly.
Is this not just the standard spawn protection, then?
@Tucker Jensen
And the issue was automatically reported via Hopper since it involved a game crash, but let's not turn our bug reporting system into a game of quien es mas macho, okay?
Fixed by falling back to ARB_texture_env_combine instead of OpenGL 1.3 if necessary.
"A decent graphics card" is not descriptive. Specifying if it's AMD, NVidia or Intel, and providing a model number, is.
Let me draw your attention to the following fields at the top of the bug:
Resolution: Fixed
Fix Version/s: Future Version - 1.8?
@Daniel Mills:
Your explanation is born of ignorance and has very little basis in fact. Somehow I don't think you know anything about how rendering in OpenGL actually works, or rendering in general. There is no concept of "layers" in OpenGL, I would love to know where you got this entirely wrong notion.
That's not how most actual game engines work. Blitting a screen-sized buffer onto the screen is pretty costly in terms of overdraw, especially with blending turned on, and there are a lot of people who are already complaining about performance issues.
As an aside, around 5% of our userbase still only supports fixed-function GL, and the majority of that 5% also don't support the ARB necessary for framebuffer objects. From a pragmatic standpoint, I'm not willing to shut out 500,000 of our paid users to fix a visual bug.
This proposal also won't fix the issue. All particles are currently rendered behind any translucent geometry due to draw order, but your proposal makes all particles render in front of any translucent geometry. It solves the immediate problem of particles rendering behind water, but introduces other problems. I've tried it before. If I implemented this fix, all of your torches' particles would render in front of any stained glass that you may have. Since you mention water, consider the case of torches in a room built on the bottom of the ocean: The particles would render in front of the water when looking at the room through the surface.
There is no good solution that involves batching all particles either before or after translucent geometry, layers or no. I've been down this path already, and have seen that no matter when the particles are rendered - before or after translucent geometry - it won't be 100% correct in all cases. The correct fix, which I plan to eventually get around to, is going to be to group off particle effects in the same fashion as chunk geometry, render the particle effects at the same time as the chunk geometry, then sort the particle geometry at the same time as the translucent geometry is sorted. As you're probably aware, this is a rather painful change, and I have other rendering-related tasks on my plate right now that are more pressing than a visual bug.
I appreciate the fact that you're trying to help, just trust me when I say that there is no easy solution to this particular problem.
Looks like someone's gonna be horrified, then.
Also the line should read "TheMogMiner plz
", Dinnerbone doesn't do shaders.
There's no issue to resolve. The first video was fake according to all of the comments (which is correct), and the second one is done via command blocks. Did you know that the word "gullible" isn't in the dictionary?

I know.
Well, that would be why I marked the bug as fixed in 14w06b.
Crash report != server log
This is a duplicate filing of the issue reported in
MC-47520. This user must use the search function in the future. This doesn't seem like a bug. As far as I know, the updated language file has not been pushed to the translation site for localization yet, and will not be until the feature set for 1.8 is more solidified.
As a test to see if this is the case, try manually adding "tile.stone.stone.name=Pedra" to your .lang file and see if it fixes the issue.
Chill, Adam.
First of all, these are snapshots, not polished releases, or even prereleases. If people, for whatever reason, choose to upgrade a publicly-facing server to what is admittedly a potentially unstable version of Minecraft, the only warranty is that if it breaks they get to keep the pieces.
Second of all, believe it or not, Minecraft's underlying engine is currently going through massive refactoring under the hood. Minecraft's code has historically been tightly coupled between systems which makes the entire engine very spaghetti-like, and certain refactors may thus cause bugs because we can't always predict every single side effect of decoupling these systems and making them more robust. In this case, it was a simple typo from writing "pos" instead of "chestPos" on one single line when condensing four blocks of more or less identical code into one - an easy oversight to make, one which doesn't remotely deserve the level of invective which you are showing.
Thirdly, we don't have a QA group. That's more or less what this site and the weekly snapshots are for in the first place. Testers do not dictate the time frame over which bugs are fixed, the developers do, and sometimes the developers have very good reasons for giving a given bug short shrift in favor of other bugs or other code refactoring. To that end, I am so very sorry that it took a whole three and a half weeks for me to have the spare time to look into and fix this issue, and that I spent my time fixing the numerous crashes and visual bugs that my refactoring of the block model system caused instead.

Alright, so what's the seed?
What does the crash report say? "it crashes if your [sic] in 14w08a" isn't very descriptive.
The JVM appears to be running out of memory. Try increasing the amount of memory available to Java by clicking the "Edit Profile" button in the launcher, ticking the "JVM Arguments" checkbox at the bottom of the window that pops up, and entering "-Xmx1G" without the quotes.
Also, in the future, please note that "It has been crashed , but y & how? what can i do to fix it?" is not an acceptable summary for a bug report. I have edited the summary to contain an actual description of the issue.
Are you going to post a crash report?
This is a duplicate of
MC-45869. In the future, please make sure to use the search feature of our bug tracker before reporting issues in order to make sure that your issue has not already been reported.Additionally, "Minecraft eating entity" is not sufficiently descriptive (or descriptive at all) of the issue that you are reporting. When filing bugs, please ensure that your summary describes the reported issue correctly. I have updated the summary of this bug to be more accurate for you.
There's a button up at the top of the screen that says "More" and has a little arrow pointing down next to it. If you click on it, the first option is "Attach Files". When Minecraft crashes, it puts a log of the crash report into .minecraft/crash-reports. Look for the most recent one that has been generated and attach it to the bug report.
Without a crash report we might never know why. If you attach one, we'll be glad to look into it.
Also, "Why is my Minecraft is not launching" is not a valid title for a bug report. I have re-worded the bug's title to be more accurate for you, or at least as accurate as I can be with a bug description of "My minecraft is not working".
By default, Minecraft's files are stored in c:\Users[Your Windows Username Goes Here]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\.
Try this instead:
1. Start the Minecraft launcher
2. Click the "Edit Profile" button in the lower-right of the window.
3. Click the "Open Game Dir" button in the lower center of the window.
Looks like your Java Virtual Machine is running out of memory when assembling the textures to be used. I see that you're using a 512x texture pack, which is pretty gargantuan and causes a large amount of memory pressure when putting together the texture atlas.
Try going back into the Edit Profile window and ticking the "JVM Arguments" checkbox at the bottom of the window, then putting "-Xmx1G", without the quotes, in the text box that becomes enabled. If that doesn't fix the issue, try upping it to "-Xmx2G", again without the quotes.
Fair warning, when using a 512x texture pack, you may end up simply not having enough video card memory to assemble the texture atlas in the first place. If you end up continuing to crash but getting an error in the crash report other than "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space", try a 256x pack instead.
Delete the 512x texture pack and it won't keep trying to use it. I have to ask, how much RAM do you have in your machine? I find it unlikely that you would have a GTX 650 in a machine with so little RAM that you can't even throw a gig at the JVM. Can you take a screenshot of what the "Profile Editor" window looks like when you've added the option to increase the JVM heap size to 1 gig?
Bug is invalid, it has nothing to do with Minecraft and everything to do with a bug in AMD's beta 14.1 Catalyst drivers. Incidentally, mentioning that you're running beta drivers would have been useful to mention in the bug report since it does not happen with the stock, non-BETA - emphasis on BETA - drivers.
In addition, we have been in contact with AMD and they have stated to us that they already have the issue fixed on their end and the next version of their drivers will not cause this issue (though they have not made clear whether they'll be putting out another beta containing the fix).
Incidentally, if this DOES in fact happen without using the beta drivers, it still has nothing to do with us and everything to do with a bug in AMD's drivers. We aren't doing anything to make these textures not appear, and the fact that they work fine on NVidia and Intel hardware is a pretty big red flag that this is due solely to AMD's sometimes-buggy fixed-function OpenGL support. If you want to see the bug fixed, I suggest contacting AMD.
We didn't, the bug was correctly marked as "Incomplete" as its resolution status, because you provided basically no relevant information.
It's almost as if a massive number of blocks were converted from being hard-coded to using models, Preben.
There's no little flare around the torches.
Yeah, all these texture issues that take like 30 seconds to fix, it's terrible!
Was very much not new for 14w10a, but it's now fixed, and as a bonus the anvils in your inventory now display the correct damage texture corresponding to the anvil type!
Can you please let us know, also, your Smooth Lighting setting and whether you're on Fancy or Fast graphics?
Okay, cool, thank you for the additional info. Looks like it's a problem with the ambient occlusion getting a little too aggressive, I'll see what I can do to stomp out this particular bug.
Cannot reproduce. Are you sure you're not running 14w10a as opposed to 14w10*b*?
Whoopsie, had data values 0-7 registered for Nether Wart when it only uses data values 0-3, so it was still trying to use minecraft:nether_wart#growth_stage3 and such...
More limited-scope dupe of
MC-50296Whoop, forgot to push the fix to the master repo when I was at work. Fixed now.
Dupe of
MC-50219A data value of 1 is not valid for redstone blocks. Please ensure in the future that you are using valid data values for blocks before submitting missing-texture bug reports.
Ron Swanson's Voice indeed.
Works as intended. You can't have a powered comparator in your inventory, so there's no point in differentiating between the two in the inventory name.
Already fixed via a hotfixed asset. Quit Minecraft and restart the launcher.

Missed "twoSided": true in the JSON files for rail_flat.json and rail_curved.json, will be fixed in the next snapshot.
This is due to you running the original JAR after we've pushed a hotfix for the "floating rails" issue. Just quit out of Minecraft and restart the launcher, and the issue will go away.
As I have said multiple times now, you can't expect the model system or the inventory system to work correctly if you're supplying data values that aren't actually valid or used in Minecraft. A data value of 1 is not even remotely valid for an iron block.
I sincerely doubt that. Data values 0, 1 and 2 should work fine for blocks. Anything above that is not valid and will correctly display as an invalid model. Prove me wrong.
If the correct data value is set, then the issue will not happen, so you're basically stating that if the incorrect data value is set, the issue will happen. Not a bug.
Need more information. CPU? GPU?
Haha, that's pretty funny, Andrew. I like your jokes.
Tripwire hook issue is a dupe of
MC-50948, end portal issue works as intended because you're not supposed to have it in your inventory. Can't tell what this is supposed to be a screenshot of, but I'm assuming it's a dupe of
MC-50951.This is like the tenth dupe of
MC-50948. I know it can be exciting to find a bug in Minecraft, but please make use of the "Search" feature before submitting bugs in order to ensure that you are not submitting a bug on an issue that has already been reported or already fixed.Your screenshot looks perfectly normal. "kinda looks weird" and "doesnt seem right?!" is pretty vague, can you try being more specific?
Works as intended. Not specifying a data value will cause the block to default to a data value of 0, and only data values 2 through 5 are valid for ladders.
Dupe #15 or so of
MC-50948Works as intended. Plants are randomly shifted off-center for visual variation. The hitbox remains in the center of the block on which it is placed.
This isn't a lighting glitch, this is mipmapping or anisotropic filtering at shallow angles.
Definitely not intentional.
The "specs above" don't include your CPU, but I assure you, I can come up with settings that make even my machine at work slow to a crawl. Depending on the presets you're using, the game has to light a TON more blocks, has to propagate light in ways that just don't occur with normal terrain, and render more chunks in general. A complex world being more taxing on your CPU is absolutely not a bug.
It's because you were using a Lava Lake Count under 10. In future versions, the minimum value will be limited to 10.
It's not a matter of going past the world border, it's going past 30 million.
Did you previously create a save with the same name, which used normal generation, then replace it with a customized world? If so, that's a known issue.
Well don't do that, then.
The page makes no such claims about customizing "ALL" ore types.
Works as intended. If you look in the Statistics screen, the game divides the number by 20 to get the number of seconds played and then by 60 to get the number of minutes played. As a result, the game needs to keep track of more than just an integer number of minutes.
Completely valid. Opaque particles are supposed to sort properly relative to the player. Fixed now.
Works as intended. The AABB needs to be physically smaller than the block on the top side, otherwise walking on cactus wouldn't cause damage due to the player's bounding box not intersecting the cactus's bounding box.
Works as intended. None of these are valid, supported uses of the blocks in question. Faceless pumpkins, upward-facing hoppers, and tinted dead bushes were all bugs that just happened to work due to quirks in the code, but never officially supported. Minecraft Wiki certainly says that data value 3 for tall grass will produce a tinted dead bush, but Minecraft Wiki is not an official authority on anything and not Mojang-endorsed. The three types of blocks supported by tall grass is very explicit in the code:
public static final int TYPE_DEADBUSH = 0;
public static final int TYPE_TALLGRASS = 1;
public static final int TYPE_FERN = 2;
Note that there is not "public static final int TYPE_TINTED_BUSH", because the tinted bush was nothing more than an incorrect data value that just happened to work at the time, which some "clever" person posted on the Minecraft Wiki.
Looks like the code explicitly clears the friendly mob spawn list in ice biomes.
Rendering more chunks is more taxing on the CPU and GPU? You don't say!
There's some ongoing optimization work that should hopefully hit sometime in the next few weeks. This bug should probably stay open until the optimizations go into a snapshot, at which point lag can be re-evaluated to see if it's still there.
Fixed, though rather than limiting the slider values themselves (which would be difficult), it will internally swap min/max if the min setting is greater than max.
Was an unintended side effect of removing the light-level check from the "Bush" block type, from which crop blocks inherit. Fixed by adding the original light-level check as an override in the crop block type.
That's correct. The resource pack cannot be "fixed" to do both because there's nothing to fix. Resource packs have historically never been compatible between versions that reskin assets. Sorry you're late to the party, but this ship has already sailed.
Works as intended. It only looks like it's pulling the item from the web because items visually float above their actual position. The hopper only actually picks up the item when the item is exactly 1 block or less above it.
"Fixing" the "issue" at this point would serve no purpose other than to anger people by breaking their contraptions that rely on this behavior. On a personal level, it would break the ender farm on the server on which I play, as it relies on hoppers being able to pick up ender pearls through soul sand. It would also break the auto chicken cooker that I'm using as it relies on hoppers being able to pick up items through half-slabs.
Are you sure the water isn't just there but invisible?
Fail
Uh, no, Gary?

I made a very public post on Reddit explaining that the block model format was going to be changing. Go get ahold of the authors of the models and tell them to update, this isn't a bug.
Works as intended, the option was removed due to the amount of bugs it caused.
Thanks, Blah! I didn't want to have to go trawling for the bug ID of the original filing.
Please do not file multiple bugs about the same issue. Please also actually fill out the rest of the bug when you file a bug, because every time we see the boilerplate text completely un-filled-out, we die a little inside.
In the future, please search for your issue in the bug database before filing a bug on it so as to avoid filing duplicate bugs.
This issue does not happen with the standard vanilla client. You are using a resource pack that has not been updated.

We can't fix the issue unless a seed is posted for the world pictured in the screenshots. Also, @Luke Brazier, did you create a world, delete it, then create a new world with the same name during the same run?
Are you running with Advanced OpenGL set to "Yes" or "No", Andrey?
Given that you have a 2.8GHz Pentium 4, which is pretty decrepitly old these days, I'm almost afraid to ask - but what graphics card do you have?
Sounds like it works as intended, in that case. Is there any reason why the damage value needs to be non-zero if it's unbreakable?
So what exactly is the bug, then? Clearly CustomNameVisible is working if it shows when you look directly at the mob. Looking at the code, that's how it's worked since at least August of last year.
Works as intended, then. Use a damage value of 0 for an unbreakable sword.
Still can't reproduce. Please provide clearer reproduction steps as well as a minimal inventory layout needed to cause the bug.
There can only be one texture for the breaking particles, and now that texture is exposed via data files so that it can be changed via resource packs, so this is now a non-issue.
So AA has never actually been supported internally to Minecraft, the only way of getting it is by forcing the application to have AA through your driver control panel. Nothing is "broken" because you were effectively forcing a setting that was never internally supported in the first place. As support for AA would require writing new code, this is a feature request, not a bug, and so is closed.
Isn't this a duplicate of the bug where items teleport after appearing due to the client and server disagreeing over position? It's a functional duplicate if not an exact symptomatic duplicate.
Is this still an issue in 14w26b? I've recently committed a fix that removes random updates from redstone devices.
