MC-115323Parrots spawn rarely in Jungle
Created new world in 17w13b, survival, normal difficulty, seed "17w13a" which spawns in a large jungle. Spent at least 8 hours wandering the jungle holding cookies and never encountered a single parrot. I also tried making a clearing so there'd be more solid blocks eligible for mob spawning and waited a suitable distance away for several day/night cycles.
Maybe the infinite-parrot bug got fixed a bit TOO well?

I think the light level check for jungle biomes on passive mobs is reversed. Daytime: only thing that spawns is ocelots and slimes. Night time: hostile mobs and the rest of the passive mobs, including parrots.
Maybe they generate upon chunk generation, but not naturally thereafter? Was this a brand new world and in fresh chunks?
I've created a custom superflat world of jungle biome, in 1.12-pre2 or Minecraft 1.12 Pre-Release 2, the only things that spawn naturally are ocelots. Am I doing something wrong?

This is probably the same issue as MC-115323
Cannot reproduce the despawning part in 17w14a either, they spawn from spawn eggs naturally even in Peaceful mode.
Also affects 17w14a.

With 17w17b seems that parrots spawn only in creative (not using eggs but exploring jungle).
2 parrots in creative after 2hours but no parrots in survival)
Using 17w17b, I have been searching for parrots in 2 different jungle biomes for over an hour with both creative and survival, No naturally spawning parrots in this time.
Parrots still seldom spawn in 17w18a. Roaming for 45 minutes so far and not a single parrot to be seen, only 2 ocelots and the ordinary passive mobs.
Can confirm fixed in 17w18b - created a new world with seed "17w13a", found parrots in less than 5 minutes of searching.
Still not working for me.
