Placing torches on other torches
Placed torch on wall as is the usual operation, then was able to place floating torches by placing them on the sides and front of the wall torch. Floating torches broke if any block updated around it.
edit: duplicated in creative only when a block was next to space where floating torch appeared

When an opaque block is placed with a one block-gap, we can place torches on tranparent blocks and non complete blocks : glowstone, sea lantern, ice and slabs, rails, pistons, repeater, buttons, plates, trapdoors, fence gate, lever, leaves, chests, saplings, etc..
Placing a block next to the transparent and adding a torch update and drop the torches.

In the same way, we can place torches on the transparent blocks and "non complete" blocks, i.e. : ice, glowstone, sea lantern, all the rails, pistons, levers, repeaters, comparators, plates, tripwires, trapdoors, buttons, glass panes, iron barriers, cactus, saplings, ladder, cobweb, chests, beacon, redstone, etc.

None of the torches showed on the images I uploaded is touching the wall.
Also, when you place a bed under a "glitchy" torch, a half of it brakes.
