I also have this issue, with the Star Wars pack. It works normally when 'normal' worlds are played. It seems to be an issue when using the packs purchased. This is not the same issue as MCPE-160716.
Recently purchased the Star Wars pack for my 2 sons. We created a world using the pack, and it works fine in single player. However, as soon as a second player is added, the game crashes with error ce-38700-8.
Both the game and PlayStation have been checked, both say there are no updates available.
This happens every time, within seconds of adding the second player. We have tried;
Deleting the save and creating a new world (several times)
Trying several different accounts; PSN account that has been linked to Microsoft, PSN account that hasn't been linked to Microsoft, and local non PSN accounts. Each do exactly the same.
Unlike issue MCPE-160716, we are able to play multiplayer split screen in 'normal' Minecraft worlds without any problems - this bug only exists when we attempt to do multiplayer in Star Wars worlds. Please do not mark this as a duplicate.

this is not resolved!!!
it isn't the same issue as MCPE-160716 as stated, which is annoying as there have been other similar reports (only happens with Star Wars addon) that have been marked as duplicates therefore the issue isn't being properly looked into.
Another example of support not reading the comments fully about this problem is MCPE-161779.
Hopefully, they pick it up on MCPE-162360 and look it up properly

MCPE-160716 describes crashes whilst on split screen, but that's most likely a separate issue, as the most likely cause here is the size of the world.
Do you get any error codes? If so, which ones?
By "my whole ps5 console crashes" do you mean that it shuts off entirely?
Can you share a screenshot of the error?
I am experiencing the same problem and have deleted and reinstalled the game multiple times (including scanning for corrupted files through the Switch's data management option). However, the problem persists. I'm currently reinstalling the game after having deleted all save data as well to see if this resolves it and will update my comment once the reinstallation is complete.
Also, the error screen does not display an error code when the game crashes (I've uploaded a screenshot above for reference).
EDIT: I was able to resolve the issue by not only deleting the game, but deleting all the save files associated with the game and then doing a reinstall. However, BEWARE: if you don't have a microsoft account linked to your Minecraft game, then you'll lose all your purchases from the minecraft store (like I just did). But so far, local split screen now works with no error codes or crashes (though I'm annoyed that minecraft doesn't link to my existing nintendo account, causing me to lose all my in-game purchases just because I didn't have a microsoft account logged in; seriously, why? That's extremely anti-consumer).
It still crashes.
2 screen multiplayer is not possible.
Is this not fixed?
If so, the game is over.
At my switch it is also crashing with the same error… the only thing I can do is uninstall … until a fix is out.
Seems to be fixed with 1.19.30 at Nintendo Switch
Bought starwars mashup today for birtday son on nintendo switch. Crash after splitscreen....thought this was old but still happening? when will there be a fix? litterly crying kids......
I am experiencing a similar issue on the xbox series x. It doesn't crash immediately, but the more players that join, the more unstable it gets. The screen flickers, and eventually all of the controllers disconnect and cannot reconnect until the console is restarted. The console at one point crashed entirely and shut down. I factory reset the console a while ago, but the issue reappeared after a few months.
this is a frustrating and serious issue, as I paid $$$ to have each of my kids have a realms account and Nintendo switch online accounts. Then when we finally went to activate the couch coop on our family realms game the second player screen only flickered and never loaded
