When ice is placed near a light source, the water it melts into will not spread.

When ice is placed on fire it will melt into water and stay above fire causing smoke particles. Looks pretty cool but some times crashes MCPE

Can confirm for 0.10.4 on iPhone 6 plus (iOS 8.1.3). Explanation: no update will be triggered on water spawned from melting ice blocks. I have tested with ice placed above torch, jack o' lantern, glowstone, and fire blocks in creative mode, using ice placed by the player.
This is a seperate issue from
MCPE-5824, for which this is considered a duplicate.Source? The PC edition also has bugs, many of which appear in Pocket Edition.
