Harvesting Cocoa Beans by Piston bug
Trying to harvest cocoa beans by using pistons will push any block beside it. This is probably the result of cocoa beans being a block item instead of an entity like in Java. It will even push the cocoa beans to the next adjacent jungle wood block instead of dropping it. If no other jungle wood block is connected then the cocoa beans will drop as item.

Hi Arnold,
Do you mind posting instructions on how to reproduce your issue, a video or screenshot of the method you're trying to use would be extremely helpful.
There are a couple of methods people use to harvest cocoa using pistons and its hard to tell from your description the exact method you're using.
Ionic
From the report it sounds like he means pushing cocoa with a piston into another position where it will cling onto another jungle block instead of dropping as items.
Posted some pics. The first would be the one where the cocoa bean and adjacent jungle wood block is closer to the piston. Last pic would be where both the cocoa bean and jungle wood was pushed out after triggering the piston.
Okay i've seen the images. it's way worse than i thought.
Confirmed for 1.14.30 based on test: Cocoa piston.mp4

affects 1.17.30.22
Affects 1.20.40.20, Additionally, if a piston pushes a jungle log with a cocoa bean in line with the piston the cocoa bean does not break, see cocoa piston.png; if the piston is powered the cocoa bean stays attached. Also a single bean pushed by a piston does not break, see floating bean.png This behaviour has changed since 1.16.100 where the cocoa bean would both push any blocks beyond it and also break off.
