It's not possible to play in multiplayer on classic.minecraft.net, despite such a function existing. When someone uses the link to join someone else's world, the page is simply blank and does not load.

It's 2021 already and this is not fixed. Maybe they forgot this was an issue.

Minecraft Classic itself is no longer supported, but the browser version (classic.minecraft.net) might still be. I'm not sure. But someone else already reported this before: WEB-1285

ok but you will work on it to solve the problem because i want to play classic minecraft with my friends.
Multiplayer is disabled temporarily due to performance issues, like 0 fps. Mojang is working on those.
Its been about a year and a half, and it's still not updated. What gives?

Well this is quite sad.
Temporary performance issues and resolution WONTFIX 4y old, quite long temporary.
If performance was the issue you could lower the number of multiplayer players maybe.
I understand that your logic might be, well you should buy the full game, but this very easy mode (far from real game) could have been an entry point for new players just to see how it works and feels.
This smells like greedy logic and it is upon us users to consider buying the real game in such case. :/
