When I was messing around with the TPS issue,I found a series duplication bug involving pistons and slime blocks.If a sticky piston extends by a 1-Redstone Tick pulse and pushes slime blocks sticked to adjacent blocks, the sticked blocks aren't converted to moving blocks. Thus, clones of the blocks are created at where the unconverted blocks were supposed to go, resulting in a duplication.
Although, once the sticky piston pulls the slime blocks back after receiving another 1-tick pulse, the cloned blocks are lost (returns to "Before" picture).Anyway, please fix this bug, Mojang. You probably don't want this to be exploited to the extreme. Right?

Let me explain this to you.
Elytra cannot break. But instead, if their durability falls to 0, they can't be used for gliding/flying (their use) anymore until they're repaired at an anvil. With this system, Mojang probably intended to let them be used indefinitely, as long as the player keeps repairing them.
However, as I show in the attached screenshot, they can become "too expensive" to repair after the Elytra were repaired 6 times. Therefore, a pair of Elytra doesn't have an infinite usage which goes against the possible reasoning behind making them not 'break'.
This should be fixed before 1.9 is officially released. Otherwise, the player would have to load new chunks (which makes world files bigger) to find an End Ship for a new pair of Elytra.

What do you do once your pair of Elytra become too expensive to repair?
You have to go find a new End Ship for a new pair.
Elytra are technically non-renewable, since there's only so many End Ships in a world which is fine for me. But, they're 'durability' is meant to be "renewable".
You can kill as many cows, horses, and/or rabbits as you need to for the leather to repair them, but you can't do that forever without making your world bigger and taking up more computer storage space. This wouldn't be as issue if you could just repair one pair of Elytra an infinite amount of times, without getting new Elytra. ;l
Yes. To make them more convenient for SMP servers, this shouldn't happen at all.
Jeb tweeted earlier this week that he made renaming items no longer increase their repair cost at anvils. This change effectively fixes this issue. As long as players rename their elytra, they won't have any problems.
Therefore, I call this bug to be "fixed" starting with 15w42a (which should be released tomorrow).
Ok. I'm sorry for my reaction. A lot of other players probably fell for it too.
So, 15w42a was released today, and it looks like that Jeb and Mojang have decided on a new system. The Mending enchantment was introduced. An item with this enchantment will have its durability restored, if needed, as the player collects experience. Exp. goes to the mendable item instead of the player.
Therefore, elytra can be infinitely repaired if it has Mending. However, enchanted books with Mending will only be found in the world, like elytra. Locations haven't been implemented nor confirmed at this time.

This bug has been a problem for me too, ever since elytra were first introduced.
Mojang has to fix this before releasing 1.9 complete.
Otherwise, they'll be many deaths by crashing (Overworld/Nether), burning (Nether), or falling (The End)! It's not fair to lose these elytra when it's not your fault!
I went to a normal End Portal from a stronghold in 16w02a and it wouldn't activate when I inserted all the Eye of Ender.
All I can say is: this must be fixed.
Confirmed for release 1.9.1.
Blast resistance doesn't determine if the Ender Dragon will destroy the block. It's based on whitelist, just like for what blocks Endermen can pick up.
The only exception to that rule is Ocean Monuments.

Perhaps this doesn't need to be fixed then. You could just replace the second to last Observer with an Activator Rail or a Fence Gate, like I did on the right side.

Redstone interacts with observers, as if they were an upside down slab or stair block, glowstone, or any other transparent block redstone can be placed on. Redstone cannot flow downward on these blocks, working as a diode.
The observer isn't just detecting the presence of a liquid. It's also detects the change in their level, which is a block state for water and lava.
And taking that away would go against MC-107664, where the Observer is intended to detect any block state changes.
Still present in 1.11 Official Release.
You could rotate the models, for the time being (resource pack).
