Confirmed. Reappearance of MC-138609 it seems.
All spawn eggs work like this when spawning a baby of that entity.
Neko, you're actually wrong. This is not how any other spawn egg behaves. Only the cat spawn egg does this.
Yes, for other mobs it matches the parent. For cats it's always tuxedo.
