Note: If you press the ESC key during this loading, the loading screen will return back to normal.

I'm very sure that it's supposed to be working like that.
It's still very very strange... I do not think it's intentional.
The fading effect also takes too long for my taste. This isn't a big deal when starting the game, but when working with resource packs I often reload and the fading just annoys me.
Still happens in 20w16a
very noticeable in 20w21a.
Can confirm in 21w05b.
Can confirm for 21w10a
