Mangrove roots are transparent in Fast graphics
The bug
Unlike leaves, mangrove roots can still be seen through in the Fast graphics setting. I'm not entirely sure if this is a bug, but mangrove roots feel like a block that should be opaque in this setting since leaves are.
How to reproduce
- Place mangrove roots
- Place leaves nearby for comparison
- Set the graphics setting to Fast
Expected results
The leaves and roots would both be opaque.
Actual results
The roots remain transparent.

Closely relates to MC-249271 and may also relate to MC-29432.
The bug
Unlike leaves, spawners remain completely see-through even in Fast graphics. The rarity of spawners likely stops this from being a major issue, but it's still somewhat inconsistent.
How to reproduce
- Place leaves
- Place a spawner
- Use Fast graphics
Expected results
Both the leaves and spawner would be opaque.
Actual results
The leaves are opaque, but the spawner is not.
Frame rate lag also seems to be more drastic compared to jungles/bamboo jungles due to the amount of roots (which are even laggier than leaves). And doesn't help that because of MC-249271 setting graphics to fast doesn't do much for weaker machines.

Can confirm, on weak machines this can make a heavy impact on performance.
Isn’t this more a feature request than a bug?
