MC-31377Oceans aren't frozen near cold biomes
Oceans have no ice even if they are situated near very cold biomes like "ice plains" or "cold taiga". F3 shows that these oceans are not "frozen ocean" biomes, they are default oceans. Close to unfrozed ocean I found a biome called "cold beach", it is covered with ice and it's normal. And I discovered that between the unfrozed ocean and cold biome's shore is a default river biome. Really? Why does river separate oceans from shores? I think unfrozen rivers are potential reasons of these biome-generation glitches...

I see, there are different opinions about the biome sizes, but yes, "Unbalanced biome generation" isn't something you can fix properly only by changing the biome sizes. As you already said, it's an issue of the temperature algorithm. Talking about temperature: I think MC-31377 could be somehow related to this ... normal oceans generating next to cold biomes where I would expect frozen oceans (which have their own biome ID > 10).
I've haven't come across this before with cold biomes... It may be in this case, it was an extremely rare case that the normal river generated where it did since it's only in a specific location. Not saying it isn't odd. The generator should generated frozen items instead of normal items when in cold biomes (or bordering them)
Interestingly, there's a Frozen Ocean biome (ID 10), but I never saw this biome generating anywhere. There are always normal oceans around cold biomes, never showing an ice cover. Can anyone find a Frozen Ocean biome anywhere or do they absolutely never generate?
Frozen Oceans really seem to be missing. If there isn't a similar ticket yet, I would change this one to "Frozen Oceans do not generate". Most of the description already sums up the problem. The river biomes along the shores could be replaced with the missing frozen ocean biomes to fix the issue.

Bug still not fixed in pre-release 1.7 !!
Because it would screw up world generation. Now it's basically too late to fix it. Might be intended was well (Yes, that means the "Advanture Time" achievement is not available, but it (the achievement) is especially buggy).
Anytime before release isn't too late to fix it. The pre-release is supposed to be a last chance to catch any major outstanding bugs before the release, and a bug in the biome code would be pretty important to fix for the big biome overhaul release.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 14w10c / Launcher version 1.3.10 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
