Spectate as an item frame, lead knot or painting
When in spectator mode, you can click on entities and look at what they are seeing, so I thought, what if you click on a painting or item frame because they are entities too. So I did, and you are able to "view" what the item frame or painting is seeing. I also tried it with some other things such as fireballs, arrows, and flying wither heads, but it only seems to effect item frames and paintings.
P.S. I did not find any other reported glitch explaining this, so if I am mistaken and there is already one, sorry...

Works as Intended, relates to MC-47254. You're able to spectate Minecarts as they are entities.

What exactly is the bug ?
That you are able to spectate as Item frame or Painting or
that you are not able to spectate as Fireball ?
That you are able to spectator as an item frame and painting. I don't think
this is intended, but if it is, my mistake. If it is then you are looking 1
block higher than the actual painting, so either way there is a bug.
Confirmed in 14w06b. Actually you can spectate boats, minecarts, falling blocks, ender crystals and even primed TNT. I don't know if you can spectate lightning bolt, but probably you can't.
Confirmed in 07a for leash knots, paintings, item frames, primed TNT, falling blocks, ender crystal.
Let's put it this way:
Why should you not be able to spectate as them?
Do they have eyes?
...yeah, they don't, but this could be very useful for mapmakers or video makers: It's a static, non-moving screen that cannot be changed unless you leave it. I see no disadvantage at any time for anyone.

Somehow I got motionless fireballs in my world (another bug, another report:search "fireball physics") and I was able to spectate as those fireballs.
When looking at a painting in gamemode 3, you do not see a crosshair, but you can still spectate from the painting.
