Stepping sound loops when 2 or more players are standing on the same block.
If 2 or more players are standing on the same block the stepping sound will play on a loop.
If a player sneaks (hold shift) their stepping sound is muted but they will still be able to hear the other players stepping sound, as soon as they un-sneak their stepping sound will start up again.
The more people on the same block, the more stepping sounds you will hear.
This happens with all blocks including water.
How to replicate:
1. Stand on a block.
2. Have a friend stand on the same block as you.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.6.4 / Launcher version 1.2.5 ? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Confirmed in 14w32c, first time I noticed it ever. Phantom walking sounds on wooden floors throughout my house, even when I'm outside. Did not occur in save previously, seems to have started after the invisible chest issue was fixed. I should add that I'm in single player mode, only mobs in and around the house. Two cats that were sitting or standing still, and a spider outside.
Fixed in one of the recent snapshots.
I think it's back again.
