No Nametags while fishing, but still in drop table
When fishing with any fishing rod, periodically get a "null" catch - bubbles approach, bobber sinks, but when reeled in, no item or XP is generated.
When using a Mending I / Unbreaking-Luck of the Sea-Lure III rod, this "null catch" will register a durability hit, noticeable now that fishing is "fixed" in that the rod suddenly has a damage bar even though the mending enchantment should cause the bar to repair immediately after the catch.
Also, after multiple extended fishing trips since the inception of Bedrock, I have not caught a single nametag item, even on a "converted" windows 10 world in which I have over a stack of nametags...
Edit: Added video of a "null catch" that dings durability of a mending fishing rod but does not deliver an item/XP. Video starts with a regular catch, the affected catch, and proof of the mending on the fishing rod...

If it always happens, it's probably an issue with timing, but if it only happens infrequently it might be a duplicate of MCPE-27678.

I've spent several hours fishing and haven't caught one name tag. There must be a bug in the loot system. FYI: realms on windows 10 and Android versions.
Same issue on Xbox. I have only been able to obtain name tags through trading and chests.
Realms, Win10, same issue.
Yeah, my Windows 10 realm has the same problem. I have nearly 90 nametags from before, but ever since the "Glitchy Together" update, I haven't added a single nametag. And I do a lot of fishing: every time it rains I take a break from construction and fish the whole time it rains.
I have experienced this as well. I myself wondered if they added a miss; as if the fish spit the hook. I just didn't realize that I wasn't collecting name tags until you mentioned it.
Same issue here, spent lots of hours searching through chests and fishing, can´t find a single name tag
I have spent many hours fishing and have not caught one name tag. Same as OP, I will get a "null" catch every once in awhile. Looking forward to this getting corrected.
I've been playing minecraft for months now and still no name tag from fishing. Or anywhere at all.
I'm guessing the "null" catch is suppose to contain the name tag. Please fix this.
Still a bug as of the 1.2.6 update, fyi
While a mending rod can take a durability hit on any cast without xp, I also have not caught any nametags in multiple extended fishing sessions (where all other items have been caught), so I give credence to this null theory even though when I don't catch something I have assumed that my timing was just a little off.
Thank you for your patience and helpful comments whilst we await a fix for this issue. This is being actively worked on and we hope to see a fix in an upcoming update.
In the meantime, you might like to trade with Librarian villagers to procure name tags (not a perfect solution, but at least makes them obtainable!)

Thanks, Mega_Spud! I hope you guys are also working on the related issue of nametags not sticking on named mobs, but disappearing the first time you exit and restart the game.
Mega_Spud, thanks for the update and that works fine but when we nametag something then log out and come back in the name is removed. Will make another post about this.
I just filled up a double chest with enchanted books, bows, and fishing rods in my 1.2.9 Xbox world. I haven't pulled a name tag in hours of fishing on the last few updates.
Are nametags drops broken in general? I found an abandoned mine and didn't get any nametags in probably more than 20 chests. This was on 1.2.9 Android.
This bug effects fishing loot tables as well as chest loot tables. I have made a behavior pack that fixes the loot tables, but it is only a temp solution since behavior packs remove achievements. NametagLootFix.mcpack
Only way to get them legit in survival for now is to buy them from librarian villagers.
Jay is correct. You will not find Nametags in chests or by fishing, like we used to. Please fix
This should be fixed in the current Beta.
I have this same problem, and it sucks because I run a breeding farm on our realm and I can't name the horses or mules for distinction. Only just got our first librarian but thats an expensive solution; I still haven't got him to level 6.
PLEASE FIX
@William Alexander Hahn: Yeah, I have had the same problem with my horse breeding farms. I've taken to naming the saddles. It's a pain, but it's the only way to do it these days. At least the names don't disappear anymore if you should happen to purchase a nametag for something, but they are expensive.
