MCPE-33946Shulker box is not dispensed upright on hoppers
When shulker boxes are placed by dispensers above a hopper, the shulker box is not placed upright.
Configuration is shown in the video. The shulker box sticks to the piston head when it is placed by a dispenser.
I'm not sure if this is considered a bug or it is intended by the devs. But this does not happen in Java edition. The shulker box would stay upright on the hopper when placed by a dispenser.

Bottom of shulker box does not connect with hoppers.
When shulker boxes are placed by dispensers above a hopper, the shulker box is not placed upright.

When a dispenser deposits a shulker box where no block exists beneath it, the shulker box aligns in the same direction as the dispenser. However, if there's a block underneath the shulker box's placement, it will face upwards. The concern is that this can be any non-air block. The anticipated behavior would dictate that only blocks capable of supporting other blocks atop them should prompt dispensers to consistently orient shulker boxes upwards. Presently, even blocks such as grass, snow, torches, light blocks, water, lava, and others prompt dispensers to position the shulker box facing upwards. As noted in MCPE-33946, this behavior appears to differ on the Bedrock Edition, where hoppers aren't recognized as valid supporting blocks for shulker boxes. Relates to MC-107661, MC-107841 and MC-116879.
it looks like it doesn't want to place it in a transparent block. but then again pistons are also transparent. this is probably a bug
Yeah, I thought that too. It's also different fom java. In java it would still dispense upright on nearly every block with a full surface.

What are the implications of this not being placed upright? Is it just a cosmetic issue?
Not really a cosmetic issue there are some uses if it is fixed. If they place upright it can be used for roullete style storage. Not really sure how to explain. There are tutorials on java that use this behavior though. You could search for shulker box storage in youtube [Octobox] and most if them need shulker boxes to place upright.
This prevents those type of storage to be used in MC bedrock.
Thanks for the extra information. This bug has been reported to our internal bug tracker for further testing and a fix. It is scheduled to be fixed in one of the future updates (no specific date can be provided).

This issue happens in 1.15.0.53 also.
Issue still present in 1.16.0.51. This bug affects plenty of builds, and contraptions thus limiting creativity.

I am in agreement with Mega_Spud that this is simply a cosmetic issue, not a functionality issue. Shulker unloaders still work and the redstone circuitry acts as Bedrock redstone should. Java and Bedrock are totally different codebases and you can not expect Java redstone to function on Bedrock.
