Please bear with me: I'm not very familiar with the Switch, which has complexities because of how it can sign on using either a Nintendo account or a Microsoft account and how purchased content from Minecraft Switch Edition had to be transferred. You might want to review MCPE-34633 for how these complications have affected other Switch users in similar circumstances.
When this issue occurs, are you signed in using a Nintendo or a Microsoft account? I believe you can only use Marketplace content when signed in to a Microsoft account. Also, did you purchase the Mario Mash-Up in Switch Edition and transfer it to Bedrock Edition?
Have you tried re-downloading the packs again? (You might need to clear them from the storage first Settings→Storage→Resource Packs)
Also, are you saving to the console or to an SD card?
MCPE-33704MCPE-34116Both reported the same issue.
Deleting the packs individually and redownloading them doesn't work. Neither does deleting the entire game + save and starting over.
Tried internal and MicroSD storage and it didn't make a difference.
Affects all licensed Mash-Up Packs. It doesn't matter if you load them via Global Resources, World Template, or changing the skin of an existing world. The graphics are corrupted.
If you have another player connect to a corrupted world (from Android, for example), the corrupted Mash-Up transfers over to that device as well.
I can confirm this as well, please fix this! Validating the pack doesn't give any errors so I have no idea why this happens...
I tried deleting everything from both versions of the game since I didn't really have any worthwhile worlds bc and now it doesn't even think I own my dlc. Am I going to have to download the old version again just to prove what I own?

I didn't know this was already made but I can confirm with images that this is happening. I have images of what's supposed to be the Halo Mashup Pack acting in a corruping way.
It's Wierd Because The Festive Mash-Up Works Fine,
Not sure if this helps research but I was playing around last night and found that if I made an Egyptian template world in Switch Edition and then converted it into the Bedrock version, it does work with no error messages or missing textures.
To add some detail:
When trying to use any Texture Pack from any Mashup Pack in any situation, the game loads up with Pink/Black Checkered Skys, some blocks show up as Pink/Black Cubes, and the game sometimes crashes. There is also an error that comes up saying that the Mashup worlds cannot be loaded.
Other things include distorted Menu and random coding showing in the loading screen.
Happening with the Pattern Texture Pack on Nintendo Switch as well.

Also an issue with the Skyrim and Norse Mythos packs
I hope it not happens in the Mario Mashup
The issue does not appear to affect any free Mashups/textures. So the Mario Mashup is unaffected.
These same issues also happen with the Halo Mash Up Pack.

I can confirm that the Adventure Time mashup is affected. Although when you load up a world it falls back on the default Minecraft texture pack.
I am also getting this issue on switch.
As already mentioned, seems like only a few mash-ups are still working. Most of the regular packs as well seem to be working except pattern pack
-fantasy, plastic, city, festive,natural all seem to work for me
( I am unsure of steampunk, candy, and fallout but Halloween -aside from its already existing sky issue, and Chinese seem to work ok for me)
in the making of bedrock for switch they must of forgot to put in the textures (oops!) so then mc just picks closest file to its name and we get some weird things. we just have to wait for mojang to put all the textures from the old game to the new one.
Something that might be worth trying is to sign in to the Nintendo Network to allow it to perform its sync function for Switch Edition DLC, then sign in again with your Microsoft Account. According to the FAQ, that should only be necessary for DLC purchased on Switch Edition, but it's easy to try and it might help.
I believe I’m signed into Nintendo but no joy.
I have that problem also but only when I want to join another Switch Multiplayer game. (Reported it here: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-34633)
Loading a world or creating a new one works just fine.
I tried to play around with the graphics settings, used the regulare ressourcepack and the Nature ressourcepack. Nothing helped. And when I want to go into the settings menu the game crashes completely.
Too bad. We heave to Switches and want to play together but it's just not possible.
I have the same problem as described in this issue, but only with the Skyrim Mash-up, the Egyptien Mytho works fine.
However, I bought the Skyrim Mash-up on Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition and Egyptien Mytho on the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft for Nintendo Switch. I followed all the instructions to get my accounts (Nintendo and Microsoft) linked (open Nintendo account on the first version then open it again with the Microsoft account on Bedrock Edition). My save game of Skyrim Mash-up from the Nintendo Switch Edition works fine to the Bedrock Edition as a map, but there is no Skyrim music or mash-up themed hud or menu.
Futhermore, everytime I try to start a new game, it says that the resource pack doesn’t load properly and it return to main menu. But a new Skyrim Mash-up save game is created.
The Egyptien Mytho that I bought on the Bedrock Edition for Switch (that I did not transfert from Nintendo Switch Edition [the console edition]) works very well.
Is someone has an idea or is Mojang releasing a patch/update?
I tried deleting the Egyptian mashup pak and re downloading it. But still no joy, same errors/crashes as before.
i also noticed that if I go to the store on an iOS device I don't own the Egyptian mashup pak yet I do own the pack on Switch.
The Adventure Time mashup is broken for me too. My experience trying to enable the pack matches the screenshots already attached to this ticket. Some additional information:
I did own this mashup for the Nintendo Switch edition. I'd try others, but this is the only DLC I purchased before moving to the new version.
The store in the new Bedrock version is listing this mashup as being owned by me, and as such is no longer re-purchasable.
I have deleted the Adventure Time mashup, exited the game, logged in with a microsoft account and my nintendo e-shop account, and re-download the pack a couple times.
I did log in to my nintendo account on the old Switch edition before trying to delete and re-download the pack, as suggested in the FAQ.
The pack validation check always tells me no errors were found.
Just for fun, I purchased and downloaded the Tiny Footprints texture pack. This works as expected.
got same problem with pattren , norse and skyrim they all dont work on the new version of minecraft also same problem with the Egyptian mythology mash up
keep getting the purple and black error place holder textures or my game crashes and also tried all the suggested methods like first opening mynecraft switch edition and let it sync and reinstalling everything but nothing works.
even tried to call Nintendo but they just send me to Mojang and the mojang FAQ sends me to xbox support and xbox support send me back to nintendo.
i hope this problem is finally getting fixed or at least addressed at some point since feels like were are being let of in the dark now even if it involved paid content.
I'm thinking about contacting Nintendo for a refund at this point on the dlc. I understand that fixes aren't immediate but it feels like the 20 I spent was a waste and Mojang doesn't seem to be addressing it.

it kinda feels that way indeed. another thing i just tried was sending a email directly to customer support https://help.mojang.com/customer/portal/emails/new
nintendo switch is sadly not a option so just placed under the "pocked/windows10 " tab

Deleted and redownloaded the Adventure Time mashup on version 1.5 and can confirm what everyone else is saying, that nothing regarding this was fixed.
I will be looking for a refund myself. This is asinine, almost all of my mashup packs will not work even after this update.
I have the same problem. I bought the Halo, Egyptian, Greek, Norse, Roman, Skyrim and Fallout Mash-up packs on the old Switch Edition. They carried over to the new Bedrock version and linked to my Microsoft account. All of these packs, when loaded from the game options, produce error textures (the pink/black checkers) and other incorrect textures on the menus. The map that comes with each pack doesn't load, and trying to create a new world with the mash-ups' texture pack crashes the game. Basically, the same results as shown in the original post. The only part of the mash-up packs that I can access are the skins. Only two mash-up packs work properly: the Christmas-themed Festive Mash-up Pack, and the Switch-exclusive Super Mario Mash-up Pack. I am on the latest update.
I'm hoping this issue gets attention. I expect the DLC I purchased to work through the entire lifetime of the game, not become obsolete in a new version of the game without warning.
Hope they soon come out with a patch or at least information of what they are trying to do to fix it cause its really annoying to be left in the dark on paid content
@Mega_Spud I will be speaking about this issue on my podcast tomorrow night. It is completely ridiculous that I spent money to acquire every DLC pack available in Switch Edition with the promise it would carry over to the Bedrock Switch version, and not have it work after the first major update. I would rather have you guys delay Aquatic part 2, and let me use what I have already paid good money for.

I can confirm mine officially that they don't work as well.
This very confusing and getting frustrating. I adore the textures I want to use so bad, but I cannot because this hasn't been fixed or even explained what the problem is.
I am from Canada so I can confirm that this problem exists in all regions of Minecraft Bedrock Switch.
My best guess is that this issue is caused by a failure in the authentication process for purchased items.
You'll notice that something such as worlds purchased through the Store are unusable if you do not have an internet connection.
Even when they are downloaded to your console they retain a locked icon to indicate that you must connect to the internet in order to access.
I assume it is the same for Xbox Live purchased textures and other content
(Might I add that is foolish considering that the Switch is portable and games that arbitrarily require an internet connection will suffer for that.)
Obviously this is done to prevent piracy, but I feel that this would affect common players more than pirates.
(Especially considering the trouble they would have to go through for a $4-ish resource.)
(Something tells me that they would rather play on Java where textures are free anyway.)
The way that paid world content is accessed implies that the same may be done for other types of content.
That would mean that everytime you load up the game it is connecting to the Xbox Live account to check if the packs are purchased there.
But for whatever reason packs purchased on Legacy Switch have been stated to not be usable on devices other than Switch for Bedrock.
So then that means that when the game goes to authenticate the purchase via the Xbox store, it will find that there was no purchase for the product because the purchase occurred on the Switch eShop. Which would mean that devs intended for content purchased on legacy Switch to be available on Switch Bedrock, but then didn't make an acception for the authentication process. My theory is supported in that users who have purchased content once available to Switch Legacy on Bedrock have had no issues. (Presumably because that is the native and intended behavior of the authentication process.) If the authentication process should fail for a texture, it makes sense that the texture pack would be blocked and begin pulling random textures from the loaded memory including the pink-block error texture we have seen very often, font files, controller tooltips, commandblocks, etc.
If what I suspect is true, then there are two options to fix this;
1) Sync Switch Legacy edition purchases with Xbox Live purchases so that early adopters are compensated, which would also improve Nintendo/Microsoft user relations.
2) Give the authentication process an exception for Switch Legacy DLC.
just wondering if there was any update from the mods here of whats going on as even with the latest bug patch there wasnt anything for the mash up packs so wondering what the current status is of the investigation as [Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay Wells) mentioned there still looking into it but was wondering if they already made any progress what so ever as i would like them to be transparent about it
I found a fix but it aint a nice 1
i had to delete the broken mash up packs from my switch
then start up my minecraft windows 10 PC edition and re buy the mash up packs ( as apparently e-shop purchases arnt remembered in the other bedrock devices their minecraft store ) then load them up in the windows 10 edition then close the game start the nintendo switch back up re download them again ( you may now notice the "p" symbol behind that texture pack is missing as that only is there if you purchased in the previous mentioned nintendo e-shop ) and if done correct its now working but it really feels as a dubble crossed sceme doing it this way as you pay twice for the same DLC but atleast it fixed sorta...
Daniel, that's a great find. That should help direct the team to the problem. It must not be registering our purchases through the eShop properly. I had noticed that my mash-up pack wasn't purchased on other systems, but thought that I had to buy it separately for each system. Now I know that it's something else.
When I connected to a player using the Windows 10 Edition on my Switch version, they had the Pattern Mashup pack on it. And amazingly it worked! However since I had to download it before going on the server, it doesn't save the pattern mashup on my Switch and I'm once again left with the broken Pattern mashup version.
The problem isn't the packs themselves.
It's packs purchased on the legacy Switch eShop, not being fully considered as purchased for Bedrock.
If the packs are purchased on Bedrock they will work properly.
However doing so is a redundant purchase that is not fixing the problem.
Temporarily resolving the ticket as Awaiting Response
This is reported as fixed in the 1.5.1 update on Switch - I just want to check in with those affected here before closing the ticket; is anyone still having this issue?

My pattern texture pack has still the same problem.
My Pattern texture pack does not work either, still has the purple and black error messages and sometimes crashes the game.
Have you tried redownloading the content from the store?
I can confirm it worked for Adventure Time and Egyptian and didn't break Fallout which is still working. I did download them all fresh.
I did redownload it when I got the 1.5.1 version but did it again.
I did it this way:
Settings > Storage > Resourse Packs > Pattern Texture Pack and Delete.
Then went to Title Screen > Store > Searched for Pattern > Downloaded the pack from the store.
No success, still having the same problem. The other packs I have don't have this problem.

One question, though: are the DLC purchased from legacy Switch edition, when upgraded to Bedrock on Switch, supposed to be available to us on other platforms, like Windows 10? Looked at the Minecraft store from my PC, and I don't have the packs on there.
It's different on our two Switches since 1.5.1.
1. I open a game on my Switch. My wife joins. Both have the regular and the Nature ressourepack in the global ressources. That way it works pretty good with 1.5.1. The pink/black textures are gone. But still the screen is not displayed correctly. The black background is too narrow, the items in the Crafting menu and inventory have a brighter background and so on.
2. I tried this: Both use only the regular ressourepack in the global ressources. But my Switch loads the world with Nature textures nonetheless. When my wife then joins my game the pink and black attack is back on her Switch... Which is weird. One should think that the regular textures work fine.
But we will try more tomorrow. If Case 1 works fine for us we will go that way. It's playable at least. But I hope another patch is in its way.

I tried redownloading the Pattern Texture pack, exactly the same way Joao Reis did and still doesn't work. I even did what was mentioned before and went back to the old version to refresh the texture pack but still nothing.
I noticed every other texture pack I had got an update in the store, but the Pattern Texture Pack did not get an update. Also interestingly, when I download a texture pack and it says importing, the bar moves slowly as it should, however when I download the Pattern texture pack, it imports super fast as if it's not importing at all.
Hope you figure this out as it's the only texture pack I use and I still can't use it.
Same thing is happening to me but with the steampunk texture pack instead of the pattern texture pack

I can confirm that the pattern pack was the only one not working for me either after the fix got released. The only way I fixed it was by buying the pack again on windows 10 version. (Which was previously mentioned and this method fixed it for me.) Best of luck and thank you to the mods who fixed this issue for the rest of the packs!
Sucks that re-buying the texture pack is the only way to fix it currently. I do appreciate the people looking into this issue and fixing the other texture packs, but I can't help but wonder why this hasn't been fixed for the rest. It's the exact same problem isn't it? so just put out an update on the store for the Pattern and Steam texture packs, and whatever other pack is being reported, and then we'll be good to go.
Sorry to assume, but the lack of transparency on how the others were fixed is why I have to.
If the problem is solvable by buying it again on Windows 10, why not using the same method as they did to minecraft itself?
What I mean is - who has those packs could see them in the store for free and get them again, just like the transition from Minecraft:Switch Edition to Bedrock. I don't know how hard it is to do that or how quick it can be done, but would be a good temporary fix.
I personally saved the Pattern texture pack since I bought it on the Nintendo Switch long ago just to be able to play a world with my partner for when the better together would come. Saddly to us, when it came we couldn't play with it. When 1.5.1 came I got my hopes up but ended up disapointed again.
I can't buy it again. Nor do I think it's deserved, neither fair to buy it again if the problem doesn't come from me.
I’m having an issue with the natural texture pack on switch. Loading it up in a regular world works fine. But when I connect to my friends realm which also uses the natural texture pack, mostly all the UI elements and the nether portal texture that’s used for the realms background are missing (pink and black checkerboard) I also get a crash when I try to access the settings tab while in the realm. I don’t know if that’s related but it’s keeping my from looking through the resources tab.
For those still having the issue, you might want to try deleting any cached packs, so they can be re-downloaded from the store.
If each player does this (including those joining) it should help with the issues of outdated packs being used. Please report back if this helps!
Mega_Spud, If by deleting the cached data you mean deleting the resource pack itself from the Settings – Storage – Resource Packs then you click the bin icon. If so then yes we've done this.
The Pattern Texture pack I am using currently is 1.0.10 and that is the only version I can ever seem to download, no matter how many times I delete it. if this is the wrong version, then something is preventing me from downloading the correct one, if there even is a new version.

I was able to download one of the packs at the time many people reported being able to download them again.
Me, thinking that the issue had been fixed, deleted the pack for storage space.
Later I tried to download the pack again and the download failed. Now the download consistently fails.
I suppose I shouldn't have deleted it after it had finally worked, but the download should have continued to work anyway.
Yeah it's not just mash-up packs, it's ALL of the texture packs. I saw a thing saying there was a fix but it's still just as borked as it was before. The textures aren't loading and I'm still getting the weird black & pink checkered stuff. Oh and it crashes my game when I actually try to use them while playing.

The problem with the Pattern Texture Pack wasn't fixed in this new hotfix 1.5.3 (it's also not pointed on the patch notes, obviously) I honestly expected the next would have fixed it, and since this is about textures and Mash-ups textures not working correctly I have to add that the Egyptian Mash Up has some problems with texture such as fully grown cocoa beans, striped wood have the texture the other way arround and some fish don't have tail fins. That's what I found so far.
Yeah I can also confirm that the 1.5.3 update did not fix the Pattern Texture Pack for me either. Not that it said it would I suppose, but it's dissapointing to still not be able to use something I paid for.
I'll have to assume this problem is not a major priority because only few people have this pack? kind of a smack in the face to those people but what can ya do. Well, besides buy it again which, let's be honest, that's what they want you to do to get around this. More money for them and less people complaining.
For those still having problems with the pattern texture pack - if you are able to send in a copy of the world with the pack applied it might help us to see what the problem is specifically. I appreciate it's a bit of a long shot to request this, but if anyone is able to it might help. (Please don't purchase a new realm specifically for this test though, only do this if you are willing and able to do so)EDIT: This shouldn't be necessary now
I don't have Realms unfortunately, but the problem seems to stem very specifically towards us buying it on the original Switch version and then porting that texture pack over to the new Switch version. So I'd reckon the best approach on your end would be to have someone in your team buy the Pattern Texture Pack on the original Switch version, and then try and port it over to the new current Switch version right after. That would surely give you the purple/black missing textures bug we've all been seeing.
Just from looking at it, it seems that the problem is it's porting nothing over and thinking that it's the Pattern Texture pack when in reality it's just the file with no textures and that's why it looks the way it does.
I actually got the Pattern Texture Pack through the new version and it's not working. The only pack I have that seems to work at all is the new Cute texture pack, but only on the menu screen. I still can't actually play the game whenever I try to use a texture pack. My game continues to crash to the Switch homescreen every time I try.
There also seems to be no option to export worlds from the Switch into a file on the computer (much less mobile where I am typing from) so those instructions are unhelpful. Realms also still seem to be unavailable. (Not that my subscription thing is currently active)
Oh really? interesting, so it's a wider issue than I thought. All the developers need to do then is buy the Pattern Texture Pack on any Switch version and they'll be able to see it for themselves and assess what the problem is. Don't even need to go the Realms route.
Just to let the developers know, the new 1.6.0 update still does not fix the issue I am having regarding the Pattern Texture Pack not working. I am not seeing the purple and black missing textures stuff anymore, but only because now it just crashes the entire game whenever I attempt to apply the pack to either the world I'm using, or the main menu.
So, progress I guess?
Removed all my texture packs to try and see which ones actually worked out of what I have. Mario, Holiday, Natural, Fantasy, and City all worked fine loading and playing the game. Candy pack would load, but when underwater the screen went black besides the HUD. The pattern pack crashed to home every time I tried opening the game with it enabled, which stinks because it's my favorite pack. These were all loaded through the settings, after deleting resource packs from settings. I figure it might have something to do with the aquatic update messing with some of the packs.
Pattern Texture Pack still doesn't work, I'm hoping if I keep commenting on this post, it'll get bumped back to the top so they can fix it. Really surprised no one has found a solution for it still.
Yup, still nothing. No fix for pattern, no fix for the textures for the other packs. This honestly makes me scared and "unmotivated" to buy more content. No refunds for something broken also doesn't make me trust much if my money is going to be well spent. Hopefully fixed very soon and with something learned for the future.
I just don't think they know what the problem is and instead of keeping us updated, they seemingly swept it under the rug and considered it a non-issue. They haven't updated this post in a while to show that it's not working in 1.6.0 either so that tells me that they aren't even looking at this issue anymore. Seems I'll have to keep coming back here everyday to let them know.
Just another comment to let you know that hey, the textures packs mentioned still don't work. Definitely would like to use them now if that's cool with you.
This has been broken for about 3 months now. I'm trying to be hopeful, but the patches to the game keep coming and this still hasn't been fixed. Please fix this!

I do understand that, I get it. Know that at the very least, I appreciate that you are working on a fix. The problem however is that it's been 3 months guys, 3 whole months, and you keep saying you're working on it but you're not telling us how. What fixes have you tried? what haven't you tried? I need to know these things so I can stop repeating myself and you can get the new information you need to get this thing sorted. It's not that much to ask, is it?
Now with all that said, if you go into this issue in greater detail somewhere else, by all means, point me in that direction, but until then, I will keep bumping up this issue every now and then so you're even more aware. You can hide or delete my comments when you need to, that's fine, let's just focus on getting this done, preferably for 1.6.2.

This is still late issue as of 1.6.1. I've reinstalled the patterns pack (the one I've had the most issues with) multiple times, and it says there were no errors found when checking on it. If I try to load the game with it applied, it says that "The software has closed because an error has occurred". I would give an error code if I could see one, but there's nothing that I've found. If there's something I'm doing wrong and that's why it's not working, please let me know. Otherwise, I hope this issue is fixed soon. Here's a a screenshot of the resource pack page for reference.
You did it guys! I knew you could. Ok, so on update 1.7.0 the Pattern texture now seems to work in the menu and in game, no longer does it crash when applying the texture pack which is fantastic.
There's some things to iron out though, I noticed it's really slow when applying the texture pack to the menu and loading into your world with the texture pack applied. It also freezes for a bit when you bring up the menu as soon as you get into a world. All things to fix for later I'm sure but I'll let you know if it gets worse.
Also I found another issue while testing, though this issue seems to be with Minecraft in general, not related to packs, but if you set chunks to max (14) on the Nintendo Switch version, and then turn fancy graphics on, it crashes the entire game. But anyway thanks so much for getting this sorted, well, getting it working which is good enough for now. Hope I wasn't too annoying. Until next time!
