Summary:
Piglin Brutes on Bedrock Edition do less damage than Java Edition. For instance, they do 9.5 heart damage on hard difficulty without armor on Java Edition while they do 7 heart damage on Bedrock Edition. Difficulty and armor type affects their damage but Java Edition damage is always higher when using the same armor on the same difficulty.
How to reproduce:
- On creative spawn a Piglin Brute using a spawn egg.
- Switch to Survival and observe its damage on each difficulty with and without armor.
- Compare the results to Java Edition.
Observed Results:
Piglin Brutes do less damage on Bedrock than Java while wearing the same armor (and without armor) on the same difficulty.
Expected Results:
Piglin Brutes damage should be the same on Java and Bedrock.

I am playing on hard difficulty and they do 7 heart damage while on Java they do 9.5 heart damage.

What difficulty are you playing?

The bug tracker can track parity issues that fall under 3 main rules (more info here) and this issue meet all the rules.
I think java will probably be the bug. Piglin brutes are way too strong on java and even have 50 HP. The strength for java will probably be wrong and bedrock correct.

axes do a lot less damage than swords on bedrock. So, it can also be an intended feature
Can confirm in 1.18.31.

Affects 1.19.20 and 1.19.30.21 Preview.
Since bedrock axes do less damage this is likely intended, a similar thing will probably happen with vindicators
