Snow layers are not as thick as they appear; I believe (I can't find a source for the claim ATM) that something that looks like a full block is actually only 7/8 of a block. Furthermore, I'm not sure how this would behave with 9/8 visual snow.
And just rereading the Wiki page reveals that the snow layers aren't implemented as blocks per say, but rather are children of the block they are resting on top of. This means that one wouldn't be able to attach anything on top of the snow layers, as they aren't really blocks.
In the course of handling
MC-12458, we discovered that the player skin is not determined by the currently logged-in account, but rather is tied to the system account being used. The user in question has two Minecraft accounts; a main one, and one for map testing. However, the map testing account apparently is using the skin from the main account; this even happens when creating a new map.
Steps to reproduce (requires 2 skinned Minecraft accounts) (Surmised from the situation):
1. Install Minecraft with account 1
2. Play Minecraft with account 1
3. Log in with account 2 on the same system user account
4. The skin might still be the same as for account 1
What book? Might just be an incompatable enchantment and therefore WAI.
(Possibly related to
MC-12596)In a particular area of my minecart railroad, I keep getting a large amount of lag. 'root.tick.connection.checkLight' keeps eating up all the CPU time, resulting in video for half a second, followed by two seconds of video being frozen.
The area has not always behaved like this.
The associated save has you travelling south by minecart, nearing a right turn to the west (which heads to my base). The lag seems to occur mainly on the north-south segment, though orientation probably has nothing to do with the issue.
A good amount of the rail is underwater, though the lag also occurs above sea level.
I believe the minecart is unrelated to the issue - IIRC I once got out and still had the lag.

If only for you, and you are getting problems now, it is probably a latency issue.
MC-998?
I have been working on producing fireworks that announce the start of nighttime. I had started producing fireworks with duration 3, white big balls. I had produced two batches; one of 19 and one of 8 (blame inconsistant gunpowder supplies). I had previously launched one from the batch of 19, as sort of a test fire, before going out for more gunpowder. After coming back, I produced the batch of 8, and tried to merge them with the existing stack of 18; the two stacks swapped instead, as they do when trying to swap different items. Eventually, after fiddling around with splitting the old stack, I was able to merge them all to a stack of 26.
I had found possible duplicates in a search prior to creating the issue; however, they were all closed as incomplete. Note however that I had only been looking at the summary field, on a search of 'MC firework stack'.
Possibly related (inversely) to
MC-5214. That issue was resolved as fixed; the "fix" might be causing this bug. However, it being fixed was merely an assumption. If I get the issue to occur again, I'll hold the stacks and upload my level.dat file. I still have to craft 6 more to get my desired count of 32 fireworks; I'll craft them in groups of 2.

1.5.2 PRE still affected
I just got a (probably related) bug, 1.5.1 "pre-release" (latest version as of this moment, title screen reads 1.5.1), Windows 7.
I was smelting logs into charcoal, and I removed the charcoal from the output slot at the same moment that a log (2nd from last) finished smelting. The counter for said slot read '2' still, but it was a visual bug; when it finished smelting, the "two" logs disappeared.
And how would you suggest fluids to work? The only possible way is through block-based occupancy, for a number of reasons.
But if you think you can do a better job with the liquid mechanics, go ahead and make a mod. Smooth lighting originated as a mod, and it is part of the game now. Mojang could use someone like you if you can get a realistic fluid system set up.
Also, a mod will probably reiterate this, but do not mark future versions as affected. "You don't have access to this yet."
Worlds have always been located, in Windows 7:
%APPDATA%\.minecraft\saves
Each world is a folder in that directory. If it doesn't show up in 1.5, there is probably a problem with the world. Please try loading it with the latest version, and tell us if you still can not open the world.
Next step, if you can't open it up in the latest version, would be to make a .zip file of the world and upload it.
Try updating the driver for the video card
— Please list graphics card when confirming/denying the glitch —
I don't get it on my Radeon HD 7520G, Win7, driver version 8.942.1.1000
Good point.
What were you doing to cause the crash?
— I heard 54% of reports are being closed due to duplication - search like I am doing —
If you were picking up an item, duplication of
MC-12416Description pretty much matches
MC-12408, but I'm not sure if this is a dupeThere are numerous instances of crashes when joining a server (note that single-player counts as a server), not gonna get tracker numbers
EDIT: And I didn't see that one on the tracker, 'MC nullpointerexception'. Good job.
Snow layers are not blocks, they are children of the block they are sitting on top of.
I'd consider this invalid, as there is no reason why the fence would attach. Possibly this is a feature request? There is a forum for that, but I don't have the link on me.
The player in single-player is named Player, and uses the player.dat files, not files specific to the account.
I'd mark as invalid.
EDIT: Actually, I think I'm partially incorrect...my current save only has my own .dat files...
EDIT 2: The single-player character is saved in the level.dat file, according to the first paragraph of http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Player.dat_format .
The skin would be a seperate issue, and I think it is determined by which account installed the game.
The inventory, etc. is intended to work this way, with the information about the player stored in the level.dat
I'm making
MC-12462to take care of the skin issueIs it possible for a non-mod, but the bug reporter, to mark relationships?
This was discovered in testing
MC-12458You did it without problems in 1.3, which is before 1.3.1 (being noninclusive)?
1.3.1 is the version where SP became implemented as a MP server.
Yes, I know, I opened a new bug for the skin issue.
The inventory and location for single-player mode is stored in the level.dat file, which does not discern between accounts. Therefore, even if you were to zip it up and send it to me, I would have the same location and inventory as you. (Probably not the same skin, though, if my theory is correct)
Thanks!
I think that the skin being used might be that of the person who installed the game, but I have only a single account, so I can't test it.
@Markku
Only related if the problem persists after preforming a block update on the snowstack and trying again. I'd stray away from a relationship.
@KeeZeeK
If you are saying that it 'should' act that way (as in it would be a good idea for it to), it is a feature request. If you are saying that it 'should' act that way (as in it is the intended behaviour), you are incorrect. The snow layers are part of the block underneath them, and do not form a new block. This is intended, as 8 visual layers are 7 layers of actual behaviour, while a snow block would act as 8 layers of actual behaviour.
EDIT: Go stand on top of the 'block' and dig downwards with a shovel. Does the block get destroyed as a single object, or as 8 layers of snow?
Seems to me like a WAI.
Sticky pistons only are sticky when retracting itself. You would need something much more complicated:
is the way you would pull it.
Please upload a screenshot depicting the issue.
Might be related to MC-1794, which is resolved as of 13w11a
There is a chance that this might be in place to mimic air resistance, but that should vary with the square of velocity.
I have a feeling that this might be related to how one can climb vines.
Are these jungle vines or swamp vines?
To me, it sounds (pun not intended) like lag. Are the graphics choppy?
I can confirm that these are all internal cheat-only tiles and entities. Not even availible in creative.
Invalid or WAI, or something, it isn't relevant.
Maybe /help is implemented not as a single command with a numerical parameter, but as multiple commands, with the number as part of the command.
It seems (to me) like it would be a bit more efficient to program it this way.
I don't have this problem.
Was this in multiplayer? It sounds like a problem that can be caused by lag; specifically, the client and server disagreeing about the position of the egg.
Does it drop crash logs?
I have a feeling that MC isn't entirely clear on what to do. I always get the error report, but the Wiki claims that the error reporting was removed...either the code has problems, or the Wiki.
I think that there might be some relation to
MC-11033. There is at least a chance of it.Duplicate of
MC-5178It was fixed...what is your graphics card?
Sounds like the issue which, for example, prevents you from typing §. How are you typing it?
1. Many people are reporting that they cannot connect to 0.0.0.0 . This is due to a bug which I am too lazy to link.
2. Technically, 'server.eblanda.com' would be the hostname, not IP address. The IP address would be 98.221.69.52 . I don't know if this would affect connecting.
3. This bug hasn't been reported before, so there is a good chance that there is something with either your configuration or how you are trying to connect. A good thing to check is if you are running the same version of Minecraft as the server.
I always get that orientation.
For the records, block 36 is a tile entity representing a block moved by a piston. Players glitching while in it might be the piston-and-TNT-or-glowstone-xray-vision bug, or something else.
Can you take screenshots? Specifically, after planting, and what it looks like when the seed is destroyed.
Press F3, and tell us what the biome is listed as.
There is a chance that other mobs generated before the slimes - if there are too many other mobs, no new mobs will spawn.
I cannot c/d slimes spawning in swamps in 1.5.1, but I know that their underground-in-specific-chunks code is working correctly, which is more likely to break than their swamp code.
EDIT: Wait, 'earlier in 1.5.1' -> 1.5.1 is the current version. Are you saying that you have encountered slimes in the swamp in 1.5.1? If so, this is not a bug as your past experience in the same version number show that slimes do spawn. Did you mean 'earlier than 1.5.1', which means 1.5 and earlier versions?
I personally think this should be left in as a feature, if it is a bug. Kind of like your pets getting angry at you for attacking their kin from a distance.
Wait, EXP Bottles (i.e. Bottles of Enchanting) or EXP orbs?
If the former, I think a mod might be responsible. If the latter, I have no idea.
What OS?
A mod will probably have some use for a crash log. F3+C for 10 seconds, upload the crash log. This will also identify your Java version.
By any chance were you near a pyramid?
Confirmed 1.5.1
If they spawned in version 1.5.1, but now they don't in version 1.5.1, then it is not a bug. They wouldn't spawn at all in version 1.5.1 in the past if there was a bug.
I'd mark as invalid, but I can't.
Why should bosses be able to ride minecarts? They are bosses, they shouldn't have to do what the player wants them to do. I say that is reason enough for them not being allowed in minecarts.
At exactly what elevation?
Please crash the game with F3+C for 10 seconds, and upload the crash log.
Modded game.
Locked chests are not...err...valid objects anymore. They were introduced for an April Fools prank, and have since been deferred. In any case, they should get removed automatically by the game.
For the record, this behaviour started in beta.
I, with the exact same setups, have just confirmed that chickens do NOT take damage this way. At some point, I'll get a pig and sheep tested.
What happens if you attack a tamed wolf when there are wild ones nearby? Do the wilds attack you?
>_> there is a lot of information in the crash log which tells us important details about your system, which you have not provided, while you should have. For example:
I don't know if there were any major changes in the map generation from 1.3.1 . Did it only just happen (as in it was correct in 1.5, but broke in 1.5.1), or what was the oldest version it worked correctly in?
Just confirmed that both sheep and pigs take damage. Also discovered a possible additional glitch, gonna search for dupes before reporting.
What is the version number of the graphics card driver?
Please press [ WinKey ] + [ Pause/Break ] to open the system properties window. Click on the Hardware tab, and click to open the Device Manager. Under Display adapters, your graphics card should be listed. Double-click it, open the Driver tab, and tell me the provider, date, and version.
Windows Update does not necessarily provide you with the latest driver version. Most of the time, you will have to download it yourself from the manufacturer's web site. Your particular card and operating system turns up at http://preview.tinyurl.com/ch7chou .
Have you tried on a clean install of Minecraft? No mods or texture packs?
How accuratly does
MC-11735describe your issue (excluding the specifics of the graphics card)? Not sure if it will do anything, but have you tried updating the LWJGL?
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/LWJGL
So they are digraphs, and Minecraft is hanging after the first glyph?
Have you tried updating the LWJGL?
Someone needs to test this issue with normal digraphs under Linux.
Can you try, using the US Standard layout, typing [ ⌥ ] + [ e ] followed by [ e ]? Does MC hang after the first part? Or does it successfully type é?
If it hangs, the issue is to do with digraphs on Macs. If it doesn't, it might be specific to the Korean keyboard. If Linux hangs (which I think is unlikely), it has to do with digraph handling in MC. Again, I think this is unlikely.
Might as well have them F3-C crash and attach that log as well.
Part of the issue is that the chunk is getting unloaded.
Is this in SP or MP? If SP, please do not use Optifine, as it will result in the ticket being closed due to mods.
Sounds like a dupe of MC-711 (which is listed as fixed)
Many of the tags added do not relate to the issue.
Time between loading the game should NOT have any effect; it is not considered.
I cannot reproduce in 1.5.1 - I have a lighthouse with a blinking lamp (in fact, 8 lamps). No lag between if it is on or off (I have a switch to turn off the lamps)
Please use the VANILLA launcher, not Technic - I have a feeling that it might have some relation to the problem.
Vanilla as in you start minecraft.exe through Windows Explorer.
Also, why is the account name 'School'?
Wasn't sure if it was a school computer or not. If it was, then I would blame your school for the problem. Also say that you probably shouldn't install MC on a school system. What with the login and such.
I have no idea where to continue for finding problems; as such, I have upvoted the ticket, even though it does not affect me directly. It is probably a bug with the game, as is expected. Only thing I can suggest is to try to get a fix found indirectly; install mods to find one that seems to fix the problem, and when you find one that does, contact the mod's author and ask them why it works in the mod but not in vanilla. Also point them to the ticket so they can tell us what the problem is.
Of course, that is assuming that someone out there found and fixed the problem.
Does the server have mods?
Remember that if the chunk is unloaded, Redstone can start acting up. I sense a relation.
Write how? Alt+Numpad, an IME, or copy-paste?
IIRC only C/P works
I've heard that the user/library dir is hidden by default. I have no idea how to fix that, though.
IIRC this is works as intendedalso, the summary contradicts the description.
Please change the summary line to reflect what is happening.
Please also crash the game by pressing F3+C for 10 seconds, and upload the log.
When you say the start of the next line, how far do you mean? Please explain or provide screenshots.
I didn't know that § was working in chat, is this through a mod (unsupported) or command block?
Just realised my Java is outdated, updating it, will check again.
What language are you playing the game in? I can't make sense out of the entity list.
Alternativly, is your nick Gemlde?
That is correct IIRC. The only way this could be altered is by splitting the entities (making them seperate)
On another note, this might be WAI. Do WSes take damage from the lava itself? Recall that burning is only a side effect, and the lava itself also can cause damage.
Is the server vanilla?
I would say to F3+C crash it, but I don't know if it is possible (or how to do it) on a server.
Please see if this can be replicated through the use of command blocks.
How exactly does § do a reset? I don't think it is supposed to work like that (§ needs a parameter). Does this still happen if you use §f instead of a plain §?
Okay, please mark as invalid, resolved, or whatever. Updating the Java seems to have fixed it. Walked and rode the length without significant time in root.tick .
I know, that's what I thought at first, but look closely at the screenshots.
The Endermen is angry when the crosshair is on its legs.
The Endermen is not angry when the crosshair is on its head.
Okay, my batch of 6 merged correctly, but wouldn't merge with my stack of 26.
EDIT: Just loaded up the inventory with INVedit for MC 1.4...
To me, it claims that the two should stack properly (both ID 401, damage 0, stacks of 6 and 26). Gonna look at the tag tree myself, I think.
EDIT²: Look identical to me, less slot ID and stack count.
Added what I recall of the steps.
It looks to me like fireworks crafted in the current session will not stack merge with fireworks from a prior session until save and reload. There might be some additional data [verification needed] attached to fireworks when crafted, which is not saved. This also explains why the stacks merge after reloading, as well as why they are identical in the savegame.
What sound system are you using? ALSA, OSS, PulseAudio?
Is sound actually enabled? Check the options.
Dupe of
MC-315Err...Flattened as in you did it, or it is superflat? Different dupe if you did it.
Maybe
MC-2548Don't mark future versions as affected, you don't have access to this yet.
A mod will probably restate this.
Do you mean the current snapshot? 13w16a ?
In 1.5.1 and the snapshot, can you please crash the game with F3+C for 10 seconds, and upload the logs?
Are you running on your administrator account? I recommend the following, for in the snapshot, so you wouldn't need to reboot the system:
1. Run from a normal user account (if needed, you can run as admin, but you need a seperate admin account)
2. When the system locks up, press Super+L (Super is usually labeled with the Windows flag) to go to the login screen.
3. Log in to the administrator account
4. In the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete), on the Processes tab, use End Process on all the processes labeled 'javaw.exe' that are running as either the user account, or the admin account using Run As.
Error logs are not saved to the desktop, they are saved to the Minecraft folder, located at %APPDATA%\.minecraft .
What is the worldgen seed? That would reproduce it.
I'm getting problems from puu.sh right now. Can you please attach the logs instead?
It would be ^C. I don't think ^X does anything (check `stty -a`). Alternativly, there is ^\, but don't use that.
Linux does cache disk writes, but IIRC that memory is used by the OS. However, sync(1) will flush the buffers to file. I think there might be an option for mount to bypass the caching, but I don't think that is the problem.
Can you tell us what each of the parameters on the cmd line does? The next time that you see the huge memory usage, please run `ps faux > ~/memory.txt`, and upload the memory.txt file from your home directory. So I can confirm if it is indeed MC or not.
The pistons would not have received a block update in the pictured setup.
I believe this to still be a dupe of
MC-108because of technical reasons regarding the behavior of pistons. While the setup might not be identical, and might be dissimilar, the root cause of the issue is the same between this ticket and
MC-108. Both have to deal with the behavior of pistons accepting power from blocks which should not update the piston. Your issue is similar to many of the 162 duplicates thatMC-108has. Of about 7500 total duplicates. And about 13800 total tickets on the tracker.2.16% of the duplicates on the tracker are of
MC-108, and 54.35% of the tickets on the tracker are duplicates and have been closed as such.In summary, this is a partially well-known and well-experienced issue, but there are currently no plans of fixing it until there is a dedicated BUD block; to fix this bug would deprive the community of a means to BUD.
Please create a second bug report for your other issue. The general rule is one issue per report.
I'm not familiar with named mobs. Do their names always float above themselves? If so, does this issue also hold true for pigs?
I would suggest "Named horses nametag too close to eyes while mounted" as a more accurate summary (as in title) for the bug.
Sounds to me like another dupe of
MC-108. 2% of dupes are of that one ticket, 54% of tickets are resolved as dupes. Please explain what you mean by "stops".
How fast is the clock? Is there a sizzling sound when it stops? If so, you are just running the clock too fast, and the safety mechinism of the Redstone torches kicked in. A 2-tick clock is, in my experience, too fast, but a 3-tick clock is fine. (Note these are Redstone ticks for the propogation time of the signal; the actual period in the design I am assuming is twice that).
EDIT: Also please provide screenshots of your setup.
I assume you do not have a subscription. This bug will be invalid in that case.
The following is UNCONFIRMED, and merely speculation on my part:
If you somehow get into the config without any active Realm (Realms require a subscription), then when you request for the world to be reset, the client doesn't know what to tell the Mojang servers (the Realms are NOT locally located), and crashes.
The option is probably not there because you do not have an active subscription.
Can you press Shift+F3 and show us the pie?
Can you describe step-by-step how to reproduce the issue?
@Torabi:
Given that he has a wireless signal right now, I'd assume he is signed in.
What mods do you have installed?
Have you actually confirmed that the issue exists with all the versions you wrote down?
???
How do you click on two things at the same time?
If it crashed, please upload the crash logs, otherwise the ticket is incomplete.
It would also help to, if Java being outdated isn't the cause, crash the game by pressing F3+C for 10 seconds, and attaching the crash log, so we have a better idea about your hardware.
Chances are that any of the following are true:
How far away is everyone from the components that are turning on?
Are you actually using a tripwire hook? Both ends of the string need to lead to one, and the string needs to be straight, and not too long.
The first page of the error report claims that it did save the logs, though.
Please press ⇧⌘G, and paste in:
/Users/lucibedwell-lee/Library/Application Support/minecraft/crash-reports
and attach the file "crash-2013-04-28_17.18.51-client.txt" to the ticket.

@Anon Ymus
The .tiff files claim the client is unmodded. Have you confirmed the server is modded? I'm treating the current issues with testing as a keyboard-chair interface malfunction. Either that or Apple messed something up, though one of my friends (who uses a Mac) confirms that my instructions (with minimal alterations) work.
@Luci
How exactly are you starting Minecraft?
From a terminal, please execute the following command:
and upload the file 'minecraft-crashes.txt', located in your home directory, to this ticket.
Old scale is intended behaviour if you didn't activate the map
Confirmed 1.5.2-PRE.
Apparently Apple's find(1) command requires a path to work...which is stupid, since the GNU/Linux version I am familiar with doesn't.
Though I am about to give up on the issue. Nothing wrong on your system if the server is indeed modded; in which case, you would try a different server. In fact, try that; see if you can connect to a different multiplayer server.
Can you attach a copy of the save?
Has anyone tried updating LWJGL?
I don't confirm on 1.5.2.
Also I didn't read the walls of text.
Please press F3+C for 10 seconds, and upload the generated crash log.
(I've been messing around with Tekkit, sorry for the delay)
(No, not modded MC for this issue)
I do not entirely understand what you are saying. The rockets all are practically identical; and become perfectly identical when the game is saved.
I can also confirm that I get a similar bug in Tekkit Lite, running MC 1.4.7, so the bug has been around since then at least; however it is with the mod-added redstone batteries rather than the fireworks. However, I believe that the core reason is identical. I will try testing the issue in a vanilla 1.4.7 at some point; if the issue still holds, we will know that the cause is not related to the Redstone Update.
