I always get that orientation.
I wonder if there is a problem with fixing specifically setting a chests orientation. I see lots of videos by redstoners and people who mess with the game where automatically setting a chests orientation needs to be done with workarounds and such. What could the problem be?
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

The following is based on a decompiled version of Minecraft 1.10 using MCP 9.30.
This affects in theory all structures calling the method net.minecraft.world.gen.structure.StructureComponent.generateChest(World, StructureBoundingBox, Random, int, int, int, ResourceLocation). This method does not use a rotation but instead only places the chest in a way that it is rotated away from a full block. Affected structures are:
For most cases this works correctly because there is a full block directly next to the chest, but for jungle temples this is partwise not the case. The same applies for strongholds generated in a superflat world.
This could be fixed by defining a facing value instead and using the method net.minecraft.world.gen.structure.StructureComponent.setBlockState(World, IBlockState, int, int, int, StructureBoundingBox) which turns the blocks properly.
I just found a jungle temple which had the chest face correctly in 1.13-pre4, but due to another bug that makes the game crash on generating a world, I cannot test with the seed provided.
Can anybody else confirm if it's corrected now?
