Downgrading is not, was never and will never be officially supported. If you are using Snapshots, use them in a different folder like you are told to when activating Snapshots. Otherwise, issues like this will occur.

Confirmed, but unsure if this supposed to happen, considering you can't change the setting to that value from inside the game.
If you are putting in random numbers, you are going to get random results, don't do it
Actually, even people who do it all ingame get the same problem.
Ex. I kept trying to get in a 1.7.10 server after messing around in 14w31a.
