Leaving bed doesn't work sometimes
When I went to bed I could not get out of bet and the game went frozen. https://youtu.be/6WlUbSX1-ig
What I expected to happen was...:
To wake up.
What actually happened was...:
Stayed in sleeping screen and was frozen.
Steps to Reproduce:
I don't know how to reproduce the bug but it happened after leaving the nether. the elytra also stopped working but I dont know if it is related to the bed not working.
MC-99894: If I am in bed and someone logs off the server I get stuck in the bed. You have to kill the client and reconnect.
MC-99856: If you have trapdoors next to the bed, that may be the problem. I had them, couldn't get out, but when I was able to get back in I destroyed the trapdoors and that seemed to have fixed it.

Unable to reproduce. Was it on a server?
If this happens again please someone attach a crash report by forcing one by holding F3 + C for 10 seconds.
Relates to
MC-90082,MC-90035,MC-89994.Alright, found a way of reproducing. It's when elytra wings don't work(

I've seen this on a vanilla server in 1.9 multiple times, with no obstructing blocks near the bed and no elytra equipped. My player "wakes up", is placed next to the bed, but stays in the "sleeping" screen with the greyed-out window, and clicking "get out of bed" doesn't work. I have to close the client and reconnect.
I have had this happen multiple times on my server. Here are easy steps to replicate. Get in bed with another player on the server. While you are waiting for them to sleep have them disconnect instead. Boom, stuck in bed.
Java 7 on Ubuntu server running minecraft 1.9.
This happens in singleplayer 1.9.2 in my case, usually after about an hour of playtime. I will go to bed, it turns to day and boots me out, but then I go back into the sleeping screen on top of the blocks I was booted out upon when it is obviously day. When I try to get out of bed it tries, but it puts me right back in. You have to close minecraft and restart to fix the bug. The reason it is a bit of a problem is because on occasion it rolls back your world. I have had this happen a few times and I would guess about five times within the last 2-3 days.
I noticed this started happening to me around when 1.9 came out. I have a Realm, no mods. Maybe 1/4 of the time I sleep, when I wake up I stay frozen in the greyed out sleep screen and can't leave bed even though it's daytime, and end up having to restart my computer because I can't even exit the game.
Press Alt+F4 to close the game.
This bug has only ever happened to me once, and that was playing a custom map. I had been playing for over an hour, and hadn't slept in a bed before then. I also hadn't used any elytra, nor were there any trapdoors around. When I sleep there again, the bug does not occur. The one time it did happen was in 1.9.1, though it shouldn't have been fixed by 1.9.2. A screenshot of the bed area is attached.
EDIT: Removed the horribly large picture, find it in the "Attachments" section instead
We are currently testing our next adventure map and the testers are reporting that when they sleep in beds they are unable to exit the bed unless they shut down Minecraft. This is in version 1.9.4
Any chance of a fix for this please?
This happens in version 1.10.2
I put 2 carpets on bed like the attachment
When I removed it and put it again, this bug didn't happen
I don't know if this bug happened because of this carpet.
I had this happen too. Force quitting my client was the only way to get out of the bed. I did find that breaking the bed and putting it in a new location with nothing touching the sides helped to keep it from happening again (though time will tell if that remains consistent),
This may be related to, not a duplicate of,
MC-92916. I have had it happen to me 3 times in 1.10.2; once in a single player world and twice on Realms. Since the singleplayer caught me by surprise, I didn't think of a crash report and force quit the game. I have no idea if that was a rare time of my tp'ing back to my base and re-setting spawn or if I had sprinted back from a build/mining site a good distance away. The next two times were on Realms and both of those I know what I was doing prior. I had been tp'd from host's base to mine 1300km away; the second I traveled from a build site 3000km via a fairly fast horse at top speed. It also happened to the host of the Realms world and he tends to tp places quite a lot. Since I am not the owner of the world I didn't get a crash report on those. I will attach if it ever happens on my singleplayer again if that would help. It basically indicates to me it may be related to an unloaded chunk issue that sporadically pops up. In the single player the bed had a standard chest on one side with everything else open and in Realms, it was completely open with head of bed against a wall.I have had this issue since 1.9, into 1.10.2. It only happens intermittently. Have to close client to fix. Running Windows 8.1, with the latest Java. In single player world.
This also happens on Win 10 w/ Java 8 Up.111 – three times within last 24 hrs.
When playing in Survival mode, you can't even quit to menu, and F3 commands don't work because the chat bar stays open and catches all keystrokes.
While wearing Elytra while this bug happens, it turns Elytra on.
It happening to me too .. in 1.10.2
Denis Uhlik, 1.10.2 is outdated and already marked as affected
In 1.11.2, if I go to bed in creative mode, I can't get out of bed. ESC fails, and clicking on "Leave Bed" fails. Neither can I log out (because ESC fails). The only escape is to leave full-screen mode and destroy the window (killing the JVM).
Workaround: Always remember to switch to survival mode before clicking on a bed.
It's not always in Creative mode. I can sleep properly in Creative 99% of the time. Maybe try to create a new world in Creative and sleep there? It should work.
I was having the same problem in 1.11.2 for awhile, but I think I fixed it when I placed a shulker box next to the bed on the left at the top part of the bed. I have blocks on the right side and front of the bed acting as walls for my house, a one block space between the foot of the bed and a furnace, and open blocks to the left at the bed at the bottom. I have a two block space above the bed for my ceiling.
Maybe it has something to do with putting a block next to the top part of the bed on each side? Not tested, just a possibility. Hope this helps.
Issue still exists in 17w06
Affects 17w13b
MC-115383I think this bug is related to players turning invisible in their worlds because they teleport around. It makes sense that the elytra doesn't work as well because the player is invisible. If you're also able to fall from a great height and not take damage, then this would also indicate that you (the player) are invisible.
I just had this problem occur on a 1.12 world in survival mode. The bed was underground (at y=10 if that helps) and was in a 3x3x3 cube dug out. There were two blocks covering the bed one block above the bed. I've included an example of what I am talking about.
Having the same issue, started with 1.12 and still having it in 1.12.1. Single player and multi player, regular survival, no mods. Never had this issue before 1.12. Moving the bed seemed to stop it from happening for a while.
I'm having the same problem, and yes, it just started with the 1.12 patch. It's happened twice in one day when leaving the nether (at two different portals) but it has also happened at other times, nowhere near a portal. I was playing on Realms, normal survival, vanilla. The only way I've been able to get out is to ctl-alt-del and shut down the game in task manager.
This is due to the player entity being removed from the entity tracker when they chunk they left unloaded.
When the player should wake up, they are looked up in the entity tracker and sent the "wake up" message. Since the player entity was removed from the tracker, they never get the message, resulting in being stuck in the bed.
Preventing the player from being removed from the tracker unless they are marked as dead avoids the issue.
So you mean this is a duplicate of
MC-92916? Did you check the code to make sure?Yes it is.
I have done some further investigation and believe I have identified the root cause of the issue itself. I have put the details in
MC-92916.Just experienced this...

By the way, I should probably mention I am on Mac OSX High Sierra, 2015 Macbook air. latest version of Minecraft with Optifine
Reproducing with Optifine doesn't count. Also, this report got closed as a duplicate, so please take new information to the other report.
