Error "Operation too slow" when the launcher downloads files
/!\: The version of the launcher is 2.1.5410, downloaded from the official's Minecraft website, which isn't available from the JIRA list of versions
On a fresh installation, when clicking "Play", the launcher starts downloading the client (Currently 1.14.4).
It fails with this error message:
Failed to download file. Name: 1.14.4.jar URL: https://launcher.mojang.com/v1/objects/8c325a0c5bd674dd747d6ebaa4c791fd363ad8a9/client.jar Error details: Operation too slow. Less than 30 bytes/sec transferred the last 60 seconds Filename on disk: 7238-d030-c3fc-6584 Path: /tmp/7238-d030-c3fc-6584 Exists: File
Downloading this file manually with curl worked, in less than 2 minutes (And now it blocks on fastutil-8.2.1.jar).
I have a 2663 kb/s download bandwidth (As announced by the modem) and the connection is likely unstable. It is very unlikely that it dropped under 30 B/s for 60 seconds long, though.
The filesystem where the launcher is downloading files (/tmp) is of tmpfs type, have a size of 4GB and a used space of 4%. Thus, it's unlikely I'm hitting a disk I/O throughput or space limit.
Environment
uname -sr:
Linux 4.19.57-gentoo

@Mustek2: Spam like this once more and I'll go find the hardware you are running on then unplug it.
To this JIRA administrators: Please be sure that the distributed versions are in the list, otherwise add a wildcard in the list. In any case, versions that end-users can't access to shouldn't be in the list, and receiving 4 email notifications because of this innocent choice is not an happy experience.

Hello! We're sorry you're experiencing this problem. In order to diagnose the problem, we need to look at your launcher log file. It's called launcher_log.txt, and can be found in your Minecraft folder. Please attach it to this bug report.
Hi @slicedlime, I attached the launcher.log file yesterday (18:40).

I'm bringing a follow-up on this (Although I stopped playing the game).
I just ran a download on a fresh installation ($HOME/.minecraft deleted) and on an updated launcher (2.1.13509) with a slightly modified environment: I didn't encountered this issue. It might have been fixed on a previous version.
@SwiftFox15 @Perfecttime2panic @lolyay270 : You may want to try again on an updated version of the launcher.
Environment now:
uname -sr:
java -version:
I have the same problem.. but on Mac Mojave. Please help. Everytime it gets stuck on a new file but it just won't go through.launcher_log.txt
Hello, the Minecraft Launcher has been getting minor tweaks all year to improve downloads. We did a bigger fix for it when we released Minecraft Dungeons Launcher (
MCL-14110) by increasing the time the launcher waits before giving up.This issue should now have been resolved, so I will go ahead and close it.
