Walking backwards animation - The player's body does not entirely face to the front, when backwards
Description update from MCPE-80373:
When you walk backwards the animation is like going sideways. This was also a bug in java edition and console edition and it got fixed for both of them, however it hasn’t been fixed on bedrock edition.
How to reproduce:
- Switch to 3rd person view
- Walk backwards
What I expected to happen: The animation is like going forward.
What actually happened: The animation looked like going sideways.
Original Description:
This is the opposite of MC-114900. The walking animation still uses the animation that is similar to the animation where players walk sideways. This can be seen if you switch to Third Person Front/Back.

This is caused by MCPE-49899, the character is always seen from the front and when walking backwards, you tilt to one side, caused by MCPE-49899, therefore this is a duplicate of it.

Can confirm, the player also rotates when moving backwards which is unintentional. See MCPE-49899
Now would be a good time to fix both of these issues
Confirmed for 1.16.0
Confirmed still in 1.16.2
This is an intended feature; the java edition backwards walking animation looks really bizarre imo, but im biased.
user-6d71e Source?
The animation looks weird on bedrock, but not on java
it looks fairly weird on java edition. This bug has been here ever since the game came out.
I found out that this is usually fixed for consoles, as of bedrock its still not fixed
the behavior animations were different from java and bedrock
Can confirm for 17.0 and 1.17.1
It looks good what do you mean, on Java it's just inverted forward walking animation since 1.9 and looks extremely weird to me, I'd rather to have Bedrock Edition backward walking animation on Java
I don't find anything wrong with Bedrock's backward walking animation at all, Java's looks way too stiff. Don't think this needs to be a parity
exhila You're right, Java walking animation looks extremely weird and annoying, it just looks super unnatural and broken, and feels like you're just moving forward with backwards skin, and hard to differ walking forwards or backwards, if on Bedrock it's caused by a bug, then before "fixing" it this animation should be reimplemented in intentional way as a feature, so bug is fixed, but animation will look the same way it looks visually, but I think that it was a bug on Java, but is intentional on Bedrock in the way it is, hopefully this animation will stay because it's iconic and looks realistic and makes more sense, and overall looks good
As of 1.21.70.22 this also affects the forwards walking/running animation
