Villagers working cause game to slow down significantly
Summary:
Villagers working cause the game to slow down significantly. The more working villagers there are, the slower the game gets.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create a new world.
- Place down 20 beds and workstation blocks.
- Spawn 20 villagers.
- Wait for the villagers to go to work.
- Everything should now be slowed down. Try to hit one of the villagers, restore hunger, throw an item, or set yourself on fire.
Original Description:
The village I'm at plays in slow motion. Only I can move normally. Damage semms to also be slowed down since the iron golems take longer to die. Every entity that enters those chunks slow down as well. Every entity leaving moves normally.

@Wolff not sure what you mean by mobs not working properly, but there are some reports on lag issues in the 1.15 betas that might fit what you are dealing with, e.g, MCPE-64344.
With regard to turtles,I can confirm that turtles are not going home to lay eggs. All of the eggs I saw in my test described in my previous comment were laid along the edges of the enclosures I made, but I spawned and bred all across each chunk. I have also run another test with a single 64x64 walled platform centered at x=0 z=0. Spawned and bred at the center, and after about 20-30 minutes an egg was laid at x=-1 z=-31, up against the northern wall.

Are there any villagers in the area when you experience lag? Does the problem happen all the time or just during the "day". This may be a duplicate or at least related to MCPE-64344
Can you provide more detail on the situations where this occurs? For example, we are already tracking lag problems with with loading chunks (MCPE-85614), and with villagers working (MCPE-64344).
Thank you for your report!

So I've emptied every chest and hopper and have no more water elevators. I think this is villager /sound related now. I've got an iron farm near the mob grinder and so does the other guy here. I've also got a villager trading hall with 128 villagers. I'll start to crash there when heading to it. I can hear the fletching table jobs from very far away. I thought it was odd but went about my business. When they are doing their jobs it might be what's crashing the game.
Reply from [Mod] GoldenHelmet: yes, it could be the 128 villagers due to MCPE-64344 and/or 128 “working” sounds playing at the same time.
Is it only when the villagers are working (MCPE-64344), or all times?
Very similar issue to MCPE-64344, MCPE-114206, and MCPE-120605; possibly the same cause.
In order to keep this report focused, please check whether one of the issues below better matches what you are experiencing before you comment.
MCPE-64344: villagers working lags the game
MCPE-68796: hoppers trying to push shulker boxes into shulker boxes, or items into full chests, lags the game
MCPE-120971: new chunks take a long time to load when flying
MCPE-125388: boats disappear or teleport when you exit them
MCPE-137537: looking at large amounts of chests causes FPS drop
MCPE-142010: falling blocks stutter or rubberband
MCPE-141920: minecarts stutter or rubberband while moving
MCPE-142692: game freezes repeatedly on XBox when playing on specific accounts
MCPE-146478: seemingly random lag in the nether cause by baby striders riding adult striders
MCPE-147882: mobs' pathfinding being obstructed while targeting (including ghasts trapped in minecarts) lags the game
MCPE-148531: inventories not opening after trying to open a minecart with hopper or chest
MCPE-149193: larger worlds on PlayStation corrupted/not loading textures after 1.18.0 update
MCPE-149866: going to the overworld on PlayStation crashes the game after 1.18.0 update
Please also note that this report is for delayed events and interactions that started in 1.18 and predominantly occurs in multiplayer sessions in chunks that were generated before the 1.18.0 update
I've just updated to 1.18 on my PS4 and there is so much lag in the mechanics of the game, opening chests, doors, gates, interacting with villagers, killing mobs, using fireworks to fly. So much just isn't working. I use the word lag as sometimes, after about a minute, a few sound effects play and then the system seems to have caught up again, only to lag one more but most of the time, things are just seeming to not work.
Is there anything I can do to get rid of these issues?
The problem probably caused by server time that sometimes got slowed down in village area
Seems like those chunks have something causing lag underground (very unlikely) but you should check
The lag only seem to occur while the villagers are in their working hours.
Even holding 12 can affect ServerTime. I don't understand how villagers standing next to their workplaces can cause such performance problems.
Have also noticed this on Bedrock Dedicated Server.
A villager trading hall one of the players made consumes 10-15% of the core the main game thread is running on. As soon as the area is left or the player logs out the usage drops.
I have approximately 12 villagers in a town on my Minecraft Bedrock Realm. The game plays fine at night when the villagers go into their homes to sleep. When day comes I receive an enormous lag spike followed by choppy villager, animals, and building for the remainder of the day. I have two other friends that play on my server and they experience horrible lag too during the day with the villagers. This has been occurring since the update. The game is almost unplayable. My character can move fine and I have no problems traveling, just the animals and villagers are choppy. The building is also laggy and does not register.
I downloaded the world and played it in single-player and there was no lag. I played through several night and day time cycles. The lag only occurs on Realms during the day when the villagers come out to piddle. I have no commands running, no ticks, or constant red-stone devices. I am thinking this is a Realms problem that has been occurring since the update.
This could be due to the new work requirement for iron golems spawning. The game has to track what % of villagers work each day. Perhaps instead of updating each villager record once per day, it is constantly updating the village record, perhaps on every game tick.
I have a village with several villagers spread out through multiple chunks. This causes no lag. However, I tried to build a wheat farm with 15 villagers concentrated in one central chunk, and I can't go anywhere near it or the game freezes for literally 30 seconds (everything stops moving, including villagers, minecarts, golems, and any other entities) before becoming very choppy when it starts moving again.
Happening on PS4 1.17.10 single player survival world.
Anytime I'm near villagers the game becomes very stuttery/choppy things begin to freeze everything slows down.
still in 1.18.30
