Add-ons enable other add-ons
Several of my add-ons have now been reported to have caused issues on realms, in that they enable other features that aren't coded into the addons.
Summary
Three of my addons, all with different UUIDs are enabling functions from someone elses addon when they're installed on some realms.
I've not been able to replicate this on my own realm, but comments are linked below from users encountering the issue.
Example:
My One Player Sleep pack, which only affects the player entity, has been reported to enable the custom crafting recipes of spawn eggs, mob spawner cages and end portal blocks when installed on a realm.
One Player Sleep Pack Contents:
๐Instructions.txt (Readme)
๐manifest.json
๐pack_icon.png
๐animation_controllers
โก๐fsm_ops.json (Makes night pass when player is sleeping)
๐entities
โก๐player.json (Links to animation controller)
๐functions
โก๐fsm_loop_ops.mcfunction (Advances Time)
โก๐fsm_start_ops.mcfunction (Triggers System)
โก๐fsm_stop_ops.mcfunction (Stops System)
As you can see, there are NO custom recipes in this pack.
UUID for reference: 120cd1ef-749f-430a-a0cb-5cb12388bf1c
The pack does not include any custom recipes but is still enabling them on the realm some how.
It's been reported that changing the UUID helps, however the pack has a completely unique UUID that I generated when creating this pack.
Comments on my YouTube videos started about a week or so ago (Early July 2020) about this but then in the last few days, I've been getting similar comments about two completely different packs that have two completely unique UUIDs.
My Mob Heads 2.5 pack and the Custom Armor Stands pack by DanRobzProbz are also now enabling these exact same custom crafting features on some realms.
The crazy thing here is each pack has a different UUID, yet they're enabling the same custom recipes.
Armor Stands UUID: 37b7ad97-6a83-4cc9-b5cb-e71673ab3087
Mob Heads 2.5 UUID: 050d4123-fe3f-4483-b30c-5fb43a4e4d68

If I add this pack to my realm it adds spawn eggs, elytra, nether stars, diamonds etc to the crafting menu but if I remove the pack none of that is there. None of my world settings changed. Odd.
4. Rayge Life • 3 days ago
FoxyNoTail not trying to be a bother dude. But I e tested it a few times and it is definitely coming from the pack. Is there a chance that the download link pack has been tampered with in some fashion? Perhaps the pack you made/have and are checking was altered somehow.

There's something up with the pack, when I add it to my realm there are suddenly craftable spawn eggs, so I tried it on a testing world and no such problem.

I have this issue as well. We LOVED the way it works for our ops for our smp. However they find the Craftable eggs etc unacceptable
most play on MCPE with a few on windows 10. Please help! You're the best!

Same exact issue. I play Windows 10 on a realm with mobile and console players. I activate the pack and spawn eggs, saplings, Shulker Shells, even elytras are craftable. Hopefully this helps fix the issue.

Ummm why can I craft spawn eggs, I didn’t really want that ![]()
Another realm owner sent me this video that shows the issue with a different pack:

Hey I am having a problem. I don’t have any other add ons on my world but whenever I have this on it adds craftable spawn eggs and a bunch of other broken stuff that I don’t want.
https://youtu.be/Pcop5YSl1Yc
And then comments about the other two addons started to come in aswell...
A comment from one of the realm owners is as follows:
We discovered a problem with the Armor Stand add-on. that I feel you need to be aware of It is shared with a resource pack that allows spawn eggs to be crafted and dragon heads be used to craft monster cages. For the most part this is not an issue, but if any other realm on the same physical server installs the other resource pack, then the server will conflict with the UUID. Our realm was instantly enabled with the new resource pack because another realm installed it. I was able to fix it, by downloading our realm, installing the armor stand pack, after changing it's UUID, and everything worked again. Here is to hoping nobody took advantage of the crafting abilities before we caught it.
And one of my Discord Moderators sent me this message today about a third pack:
Spawn eggs, tridents and even elytra available for crafting. We were able to isolate the issue to MobHeads 2.0.5 I replaced the UUIDs and it seems to be working fine.

As of REALMS-4976.
The addon is missing, into some addon. And it was missing from the files of the realm. The addon enabled a addon too, I don’t own the addon(or downloaded it). But I couldn’t remove it anyways.
Thank you for your time, [Mod] OcelotOnesie

Yes, try after changing it's UUID, it'll work fine ๐๐ผ
How did you change the UUID?
Changing the UUID is a temporary fix. The packs can "break" again after changing the UUIDs on the same realm. We need a long term solution or an actual bug fix for this
So to clarify, are you saying that if I were to generate a new uuid for one of the packs before I add it to my realm, it could still enable these other unwanted add-ons even though I have not shared my modified pack or the uuid itself with anyone?
I have experienced this bug also.
Bug disapears when removing add-on, then appears again when re-added.
It is a 100% issue with realms. I even deleted the entire contents of the add-on apart from the manifest.json file. Still occurs.
After some digging around Google I believe I have found the add-on that is enabling itself on peoples realms.
The 1.14 version (maybe older) of this add-on:
https://mcpedl.com/more-crafting-addon/
All the recipies (apart from new mobs in 1.16) are in the crafting menu on my game.
It would be helpful to get an answer to my question in the comment above from someone who has tried it.
I attatched the addon @Chris Hancocks mentioned if it helps in anyway.
@Umija5895M
Not sure what your getting at exactly.
The issue is happening with multiple different add-ons which all have a completely different UUID.
If the issue occurs, changing the UUID of said add-on clears the bug temporarily. But the issue comes back.
Unfortunately the issue is completely random and not effecting everyone. I have seen quite a few people who have had the add-on they want installed for a week or so before the bug happening. So trying to test what you suggest is not possible.
The note that the issue comes back for the case of a never-shared UUID is what I was getting at, which you have answered. Thank you for the information.
Yes I put the one player sleep and the more mob heads packs on my Minecraft realm and there were two unknown packs that had been added to my packs list and had replaced the ones I had put on.
I tried to solve, it by added Minecraft’s Beta Texture Pack (1.10 textures), and it seem to get fixed.Edit: The addon was in the addon was actually hidden. I couldn’t find it, so it seems like a virus.
We have the same issue on our realm. We originally only had on add-on, the One Player Sleep, that Foxy mentions in his original bug report and that worked fine. When we added a second resource pack, with a completely different UUID, the problem started. Removing all resource packs puts things back to normal but then, any resource pack we add turns on the crafting recipes regardless of what the actual add-on pack is programmed to do.
This problem is also happening on my realm. I had Single Player Sleep, Armor Stands, and Mob Heads packs enabled. Now, mob heads have disappeared from my game and were replaced with unlabeled black "spawn eggs". The custom recipes others have mentioned are also appearing for us as well.
I have Foxy's Single Player Sleep, and Mob Heads packs enabled. I also have DanRobProz's Armor Stands and Slack Lizards' Particle pack. Suddenly, we have so many custom recipes available in survival now - i.e. mob spawner; mob eggs; elytra; etc. I am fortunate to have really good players in my realm, who will not take advantage of this, however this bug needs to be fixed please. The report is 100% accurate.
I have Foxy's Mob Heads 2.0.5, Foxy's One Player Sleep, and the TB addon for armor stands on our realm and we experience the same "bug." We absolutely love the ability to craft Elytra and don't want to lose it. If the source of this "bug" is found, please release it as a separate add-on. Until then, we're not going to update our packs and risk losing these cool features. Love you, Foxy.
Mein Krafft: Why don't you just download and use the add on that is being activated by this bug? The bug does not add functionality, the bug is activating add ons that people have not installed.
Im using the music plus pack and when people install it from the realm instead of hearing the custom music they hear this song called daydreamers.
Have installed Foxy's OPS on my realm and having the same issues as noted above... can craft the following; saplings from sticks and leaves, spawn eggs for all mobs, elytra.
Hi folks! Wanted to let you all know that we are actively working on a fix for this issue.
Whooo!!!! Thank you so much!!
Ok this has happened with all the packs on my realm it is a pain and it seems like something someone is doing it added a weird texture that made it so all the things looked like a dog
Is there any update on this?
An ETA for a fix.
https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/REALMS-4976?focusedCommentId=795466&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-795466 says it is being actively worked on but there is no other indication that is happening.
I am currently paying for a service which is partially broken.
Michael Marshall: The bug tracker has no access to work in progress on a bug. We're not Mojang employees, just community volunteers. Questions about bug fix progress should be directed to a Community Manager on the Discord. (I know this is called the "bug tracker", but that term isn't accurate for the Bedrock team, who use their own tracking system internally.)
"Actively worked on" probably means it's on somebody's list of tasks, and may even mean they were researching it at that moment, but it doesn't really tell you anything about how much longer it will be because that's just not possible. As an analogy, imagine your family is impatiently waiting in the car and wants to know how much longer it will take you to find your lost keys. There's no way to answer except to say you're searching as fast as you can. It doesn't answer the question, it's just the only reliable bit of truth you can give.
It's not exactly the same thing in game development, but it's a good analogy. Most of the time spent in fixing a bug is spent on searching for it and understanding why it works the way it does instead of the way it was intended to. The post-search part of the process (patching the code, testing and releasing it) is somewhat predictable (assuming the fix passes testing), but for a bug like this that has a random component in its behavior, the predictable part is almost always a small fraction of the search time.
Thanks Auldrick. I understand how bugs and development work - I am a software developer.
As a professional developer I also understand customer service.
The bit I struggle with is "this is not the "bug tracker". This seems to be where I am taken if I follow the links from the game and Mojang's web site.
I appreciate all the work the community does - I guess I just expect more from Mojang and from a service I pay for. Not your (or the communities) fault.
Unfortunately I am stuck with Realms as some of the members play from XBox and Switch. If I could move to an alternative server provider I would.
Thanks again and I will just keep watching this space.
I'm not authorized to answer on Mojang's behalf, but personally I find the customer service issues less disappointing when I consider that there are 250 million players (and that figure is like 2 years old) who aren't paying for new versions and are getting feature updates once or twice a year. Considering the size CS team you'd need to hire and train to offer a typical level of support, I feel like they'd either have to charge for support or charge 5 times as much for the game. Standard CS models wouldn't really work here.
Thank you for your patience while we try and get this issue fully resolved. A server-side fix has been deployed which we hoped had fixed the bug here - for those still affected, could you provide any further repro steps or additional information to help us reproduce the bug?
Additionally, could you confirm whether you have tried uploading a fresh world to your Realm, to see if that helps with any conflicting packs that might be causing issues. (It might be a good idea to make sure you keep a back up of any worlds you have first.)
I just logged into my realm from a second computer and the spawn egg recipes and other recipes (such as Elytra) are still in the recipe book. I didn't have time to do more work on the realm but I will try some other troubleshooting and get the information tonight.
For me I cannot craft the elytra anymore. ๐
I did end up having a "long" login which to me always means that the realm was shut down and reloaded with the proper add-ons this time.
For some reason my Chuck loader still looks like Mumbo Jumbo though. I assumed that came over from another realm. ๐คท♂๏ธ
I went back in and looked at the behavior packs installed on my realm. There were 2 "unknown" packs that were there. I removed those and now the spawn eggs and elytra can no longer be crafted.
The server-side fix mentioned by Mega_Spud above would have stopped further confusion of resource packs happening, but it would not fix the damaged packs attached to your world on the Realms server. Please reread Mega_Spud's comment and try what he was suggesting.
I have been having this issue in my realm. no spawn eggs but some other weird stuff with visuals. but my friends realm before the last reset added the one player sleep pack and... things did not go well. This bug is a huge problem and once it is fixed it will make people less afraid of addons. thank you for helping with this issue
Had the armor stand, mini blocks, and mob heads installed and it worked on my realm without any issues. I downloaded and installed Furnicraft, and suddenly, everything vanished (mob heads, mini blocks, and no furniture). At this point, I uninstalled Furnicraft, but the mini blocks and mob heads still weren't there. I uninstalled the armor stand, mini blocks, and mob heads, and reinstalled them all, and they still don't show up. I downloaded a copy of my realm and opened it in a regular single player, and the mini blocks and mob heads are there. Uploaded that world to Realms, and the addons vanish again.
Is this an ongoing issue in the latest version?
