Bees occasionally get stuck on fences, fence gates, and walls
The bug
If fences are between you and bees, if you hold either a lead (pulling them toward you) or flower to make them follow you, bees get stuck at the top of fence because they cannot pathfind to fly over it to get to you.
This leads to them just being barricaded by the taller hitbox instead of pathing over the fence.
This also occurs if they fly over a fence on their own, and does not require a player.
To reproduce
- Build a fence that divides an enclosed area
- Spawn some bees on one side of the fence
- Go to the other side of the fence
- Hold a flower to get the bees to follow you

No, this is not a duplicate of MC-159447. That bug is to do with bees not understanding the vertically extended hitbox of fences and walls. This bug is with them completely losing their pathfinding sometimes when they touch the corner of two blocks.
Another note to point out that this isn't a duplicate of MC-159447. Bees that hit a fence post while following a player holding a flower, triggers that bug to occur, however, showing a flower to one of the "dead" bees I'm reporting, causes them to path towards the flower (me as the player) with no issue, but when the flower is hidden again, the bee remains nonfunctional.
Thenk you for your report!

Original description
I saw some reports of this issue for earlier versions, and in this report ( MC-159447) the issue was supposedly fixed. I didn't know what to do to report a bug and when trying to sign in my minecraft.net account info did not work so I made a new account to post this bug report. After seeing many snapshots talking about all these fixes I did not see any talk about fixing bees being stuck to fences. Hope I'm not the only one dealing with this. I have a couple screenshots and I put in blocks from 1.16 in it to show that was the version I was playing (1.16 pre5 specifically).
Hope this issue can be resolved before 1.16 officially releases.
Thank you for your report!

Still in 19w35a
the bees after being blocked near the fences do not try to change direction or to fly higher to go beyond the obstacle, even if pushed in other directions they tend to return towards the fence, not even returning to their hive after a while. It occurs best with Minecraft 19w34a 2019-08-23 15-46-59_Trim.mp4
diagonally connected fences
I can confirm this is still a problem in 19w37a
Still apparent in 19w40a

Still occurring in 19w42a - The fence is straight in this case and if the bees pushed long enough, the bees will dislodge and return to normal behavior before encountering the fence again.

I'm still seeing this in 1.15.2. If I replace the fences with 2-block high walls of dirt, the problem goes away, but the bees keep trying to pathfind through the fences to get back to their nest/hive.
Aaron Wood, could you create a new ticket about that then (if we don't have one already)?
still having issues here
MC-210136system wont allow me to open a ticket because it reads as a dupe and resolved with this ticket
still happens in 1.16.5, please unresolve
This still occurs frequently on 1.18.1. Punching the bee is a good way to get it unstuck, but then I have to run away from it for awhile until it de-aggros.
affects 1.17
still occurs in 1.18.2
I don't understand why this is marked as resolved, it is absolutely still happening in 1.18.2
