Duplicate of MC-1663, please use the search function to see if your bug has already been submitted. Currently over 57% of tickets are being closed as duplicate.
This is the absolute opposite what's being reported in MC-1663 (No death screen while chatting).
Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while ingame and attach the crash report here.
Weird.
I cant reproduce at the moment, so I will need to continue testing.
For that behavior (MC-1663), it should be kept.
It's very usefull.
I'll need to look at my setup to figure out the problem.
Dupe of MC-1663
Dupe of MC-1663.
This would not happen anymore if MC-1663 gets fixed.
When you die in creative mode while you have your inventory open, your skin will appear in front of the inventory background but behing the foot armor slot.
Relates to:
Based on MC-64261 I assume that there is some code which should prevent players, who died from seeing what's going on after their death.
When you die, you keep the chunks loaded.
How to reproduce:
- /setworldspawn
- /tp ~10000 ~ ~ (in a area which isn't loaded by default)
- Place a simple redstone clock with a command block containing a command, for example: /say Loaded
- /kill
You will see that the command block continues printing "Loaded" until you press "Respawn".
In general there is no reason why a dead player should be able to see what is going on after their death, so you could even consider this as an exploit. A solution would be to stop sending a dead player any player, entity or chunk updates until he respawns.
If someone wants a dead player to be able to spectate, they should use the spectator mode I guess.
When the chat window is opend it dosent matter if you have any text in the chat window or not, and then you die, the chunks will stutter, vibrate, and fly across the screen rapidly(MC-62958) for 20-30 seconds before minecraft crashes. This can only be created if the chat window was open. Based on sevral tests and calculatens i made, this can be fixed by fixing MC-96861 my other issue, because the death screen doesnt appeasr right away, and so prevents the stuttering chunks. That also means resolving MC-1663 as a WAI. And when testing on machines that dont have AMD the game crashes immediately after death with the chat window open.
Reproduce:
1. make a world.
2.fall into void
3. open chat before death
4.If you have AMD drivers, wait thill the chunk glitch stops, if you dont skip this step.
5. Look at the crash report, notice how the type of error is java.lang.IllegalStateException .
This happens during all death events when the chat is open, and you can close the chat to get to the death screen...
Confirmed, but where is the bug ?
I think this works as intended, at least I hope so, because it's really annoying to lose your message after dying
ok, now let's say this isn't the case. Imagine someone set your spawnpoint on 0 -400 0 just to troll. You won't be able to teleport back up or set a new spawnpoint in time. so please just resolve this as 'works as intended'
Confirmed for
Confirmed in 1.8.3. Leaving the chat open is intended, so you don't lose your message or so you have a chance to type a command. The inventory part however, is almost certainly a bug. I see no reason for it to exist, as you would drop your items anyways. Perhaps these should be split into separate reports?
Confirmed in 1.8.4. When keepInventory is enabled you still have access to your items after dying, if you die with your inventory open. This allows you to craft and drop items while dead, which allows you to trigger wooden (or weighted) pressure plates.
Seems fixed for 15w31a, however as many people said the fact that the chat stayed open for "emergency" commands was very useful.
Please resolve this as 'Works As Intended,' because you lose your message that you were typing in the chat.
Edit: This bug is also questionable, because one of the moderators are asking what the bug really is, and besides, there was no response to that question, so this would be resolved as an 'Awaiting Response.'
Here is nothing to resolve as WaI, this issue was fixed. Simple thing.
This issues' Confirmation Status should be Community Consensus, because seeing the comments and reading and testing the issue, it is debatable about this issue.
The Confirmation Status is already Confirmed, this is one step higher as "Community Consensus".
But again, this issue is fixed, there is no need to update anything.
I actually figured out that this makes absolutely no sense for a GUI window to exit when the Player dies, because it's an intended feature in the Minecraft Pocket edition, and Minecraft Console edition.
Edit: I did some math and found an equal number of people voting for and against this issue.
The opposite issues being reported are MC-26334 and
MC-96861, and MC-26334 has been reopened, my friend reportedMC-96861, which turned out to be a duplicate eventually.
