So... Been playing minecraft snapshot 21w07a, just exploring a grimstone cave when i found a mineshaft with lights.
Was searching for the source of the light there was nothing, no torches.
I left the world then rejoind the light was gone.
It's a weird glitch and it might affect in the experience, that's why i'm sharing it.

This is probably actually MC-216432. Mineshafts have their own specific client-server lighting desync.
Still affected in 21w14a, though any mineshaft (regular or badlands variant, regardless of y-level) appears to have this reduced torch count (maybe 1 torch per mineshaft). Perhaps the thought was that the lichen that now grows underground replaced them, and torches weren't needed on the badlands surface anyway.
Regardless, seems to be related to MC-216432, where the phantom lights on the client side seem to be where the torches used to spawn, and the sever no longer generates them in the mineshaft.

Note: This has been unreported for a long time and it's probably the real reason for MC-216561 as unless there happens to be a random block behind the torch it won't generate making torches rarer. Also could possibly be the reason for MC-216432
Bug Description: This is probably a recurrence of MC-124966, all torches in mineshafts are now facing the wrong way. This apart from being a bug in of itself probably makes torches rarer as those won't generate unless they happen to have a random supporting block generate. I also do not know the first version this started to occur in.
Expected Behaviour:
All torches in mineshafts generate attached to the wooden support pillars
Observed Behaviour:
All torches generate rotated 180* in the other direction
How to reproduce:
Locate any mineshaft structure (it doesn't matter whether it's above or below y0) and find any torches you will find that all of them are rotated
I Tried To Attach Screenshots But It Doesn't Work.
I was able to reproduce this in both 1.16.5 and 21w08b. It appears to be a client-server desync of the lighting. I suspect that the client thinks a torch generated in that position and the server knows that the torch did not generate there. This bug is relatively common.
