Cartographer Villager Freezing (caused by OptiFine)
OptiFine is a mod, and Mojang cannot fix your mods. Please remember to only report bugs that occur in vanilla Minecraft.

When I trade with a cartographer Villager and he levels up to level three, he will freeze and cause the game to also freeze. The only way to fix it is to go into task manager and end Minecraft altogether. Then when I go back into the world it sets me back a bit because I couldn't save.

Don't think seed is relevant here. Unlike vanilla, OptiFine appears to be lagging out alot when trying to generate Ocean/Woodland explorer maps for Cartographer trading levels 2-3.

Jimmy Chandra, this issue was actually fixed in 20w45a. What you're experiencing here is a case of MC-228721. This is caused by the use of optifine, so simply disable this modification in order to resolve the problem.

OptiFine mod problem. Caused by reaching levels 2-3 of Cartographer trading that has Ocean/Woodland Explorer maps. The freeze does not happen in vanilla, even when continually spawning and leveling Cartographers up to generate those map trades; just only minor server lag.

I'm pretty sure if you wait for about half an hour the game will save so if you have made a lot of progress you don't want to lose you might want to wait
