Allay is missing unique higher fidelity animations from Bedrock for its Idle, Movement, & Dancing
The Bug:
In Bedrock edition, Allays have special, higher fidelity animations for their Idle, Movement, and Dancing that Java simply does not have. In Java edition these animations are more simple and less detailed, which is an odd inconsistency to have as Java edition still has all the high quality animations for other new mobs such as Wardens, Sniffers, and Camels.
This report will showcase the difference in these animations by showing a render of the Bedrock's version first, on the left, then an in-game showcase of Java's on the right.
NOTE - The speed of these GIFs may be off from their intended motion.
Animation 1: Idle

This one is more subtle; in Bedrock on the left, the abdomen sways a bit and the wings flap in a more realistic, angled fashion.
Animation 2: Movement

The movement animation is more noticeable; the wings again flap in a more detailed way, and the whole body and head move and sway instead of remaining static like Java on the right.
NOTE - Bedrock's movement animation has it's own parity issue; it lacks the increased wing fluttering speed from Java when Allays move very quickly that came of the original fix of this report. (MCPE-174606) Both the Java and Bedrock are missing parts the other has, here!
Animation 3: Dance

The Allay's Bedrock dancing animation VS its Java dancing animation is perhaps the most noticeable discrepancy. The subtle little wind up, and posed, flared out wings during the spin in Bedrock's is a far cry from the very simplistic model rotation Java's animation has.
Notice about the history of this bug:
This bug was originally fixed in 22w42a. It fixed a lot of odd posing and clipping issues Java Allays experienced that Bedrock ones did not, and even added a movement speed factor for Java Allays that ended up surpassing Bedrock's (again, MCPE-174606). However, it had to be reopened because a notable animations were still not up to parity.

Created Issue:
Allay's poses and animations differ from Bedrock's, causing intense clipping, inconsistencies, and strange item positioning
The Bug:
Many of the poses Allays have during their animations are different from their poses in the Bedrock edition, in ways that causing very noticeable model clipping and strange item positions that are not present in the Bedrock edition.
{+}Biggest Issues:
{+}1. The arms are held at a higher position while flying without and item that cause them to clip straight through their wings and head.
2. The torso isn't tilted as far nor is the head positioned forward as much, which can also be a culprit of the clipping
3. The arms are held more downwards with an item, and the position of the item is also way more downwards and angled in an odd way compared to Bedrock edition.
4. The wing flapping animation doesn't speed up in Java edition while Allays are moving, unlike how they do speed up in Bedrock.
How to Reproduce:
- Summon an Allay in both versions of the game.
- Note how the animations in Bedrock have no clipping and the wings move faster while flying forward
- Note how in Java edition there are many cases of clipping, the pose is overall different, and the wings do not speed up during movement, and the items they carry are positioned oddly while moving
--------------------------
The images below display every issue and inconsistency with the Allay pose in Java compared to its cleaner Bedrock edition, as well as the video showcasing the clipping and strange item position.
There is also a video demonstrating how the Allays wings speed up in flight in Bedrock

1. Arm position clipping while flying: The arms are held at a higher position while flying without and item that cause them to clip straight through their wings and head.
2. Torso not tilting as far: The torso isn't tilted as far, nor is the head positioned forward as much, which may also be a culprit of the clipping
3. Items angled strangely: The arms are held more downwards with an item, and the position of the item is also way more downwards and angled in an odd way compared to Bedrock edition.
4. Wing flapping not speeding up: The wing flapping animation doesn't speed up in Java edition while Allays are moving, unlike how they do speed up in Bedrock.
5. Lower quality dancing and spinning: In 22w24 Allays are now able to dance. In Bedrock this animation is fleshed out, with special poses with the arms and wings where they're lifted upwards, consistent head movements, and a quick, fluid spin. In Java this animation is way lower in quality with the default arms, no special wing movements, and inconsistent, choppy, and slow spinning. It overall looks worse and less fluid. There are two videos below that compare these two versions of the dance.
How to Reproduce:
- Summon an Allay in both versions of the game.
- Note how the animations in Bedrock have no clipping and the wings move faster while flying forward, and the dancing is more smooth and fleshed out
- Note how in Java edition there are many cases of clipping, the pose is overall different, and the wings do not speed up during movement, the items they carry are positioned oddly while moving, and the dancing is choppier and has les unique poses

The images below display every issue and inconsistency with the Allay pose in Java compared to its cleaner Bedrock edition, as well as the video showcasing the clipping and strange item position.

There is also a video demonstrating how the Allays wings speed up in flight in BedrockThere are two videos below that also compare the Bedrock and Java dancing animations
What's left as of 1.20 Snapshots:
This bug was fixed and many of the inconsistencies were rectified and polished, but had to be reopened as some remained. This is what is left as far as I can tell as of 22w44a:
1. Dancing animation is still inconsistent and lower quality compared Bedrock's: This is the biggest and most obvious inconsistency. The dancing animation has remained unchanged since 1.19 when Bedrock's has a version where the spinning is part of an actual animation with special wing poses and a smooth quick spin, instead of Java's choppy spin.
The gif below depicts the animation it should be using...
while this video shows what it's like in Java:
AllayDance120.mp42. Item position is still lower compared to Bedrock's: Although it's been improved and Allay items are not held quite as low, it's still not as upwards as Bedrocks, as you can see in this image compared to the old ones in the attachments.
These are the only two remaining animation inconsistencies the stand out to me as of the latest snapshots, the rest seem to be fixed.

2. Torso not tilting as far: The torso isn't tilted as far, nor is the head positioned forward as much, which may also be a culprit of the clippingFixed3. Items angled strangely: The arms are held more downwards with an item, and the position of the item is also way more downwards and angled in an odd way compared to Bedrock edition.
4. Wing flapping not speeding up: The wing flapping animation doesn't speed up in Java edition while Allays are moving, unlike how they do speed up in Bedrock.Fixed5.

What's left as of 1.19.3 Snapshots (22w42a+):
AllayDance120.mp4Or, for a more direct comparison, here's videos f the Allays in the same spot in the same seed ingame in both Bedrock and Java respectively. It's even easier to compare and contrast here:
BedrockAllayDance22w24a.mp4
JavaAllayDance22w24a.mp4![]()

This report will showcase the difference in these animations by showing a render of the Bedrock's version first, then an ingame showcase of Java's.

That issue can be found HERE:Animation 3: Dance
The Allay's Bedrock dancing animation VS its Java dancing animation is perhaps the most noticeable discrepancy. The subtle little wind up and posed, flared out wings during the spin in Bedrock's is a far cry from the very simplistic model rotation Java's animation has.

How to replicate:
These Issues can simply be observed by spawning an Allay in both editions of the game and observing their animations.
Notice about the history of this bug:
This bug was originally fixed in 22w42a. It fixed a lot of odd posing and clipping issues Java Allays experienced that Bedrock ones did not, and even added a movement speed factor for Java Allays that ended up surpassing Bedrock's. However, it had to be reopened because a notable animations were still not up to parity.

NOTE - Bedrock's movement animation has it's own parity issue; it lacks the increased wing fluttering speed from Java when Allays move very quickly that came of the original fix of this report.Animation 3: Dance
The Allay's Bedrock dancing animation VS its Java dancing animation is perhaps the most noticeable discrepancy. The subtle little wind up and posed, flared out wings during the spin in Bedrock's is a far cry from the very simplistic model rotation Java's animation has.
This report will showcase the difference in these animations by showing a render of the Bedrock's version first, then an in-game showcase of Java's.

The Bug
In 22w45a, Vexes got a remodel to be pixel-consistent and match up with Allays. However, due to some fixes in MC-251518, Vex now have an animation error that Allays used to have as a leftover of their old model.
The flapping wings of a Vex clip straight through their head, while this is no longer the case for Allays, as can be seen in this video:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steps to reproduce:
1. Summon an Allay and Vex with no AI next to each other and look at their wings.
2. In previous snapshots, Allays wings would clip through their heads. Now they no longer do
3. Vex however, despite the model change, have wings clipping right through their heads.
Can confirm. I would like to add additional information as well, might be good to have on the main report:
Wing Speed:
Not only do Allays tilt their model when flying, as of 22w42a, they also have new wing speed animations as part of a parity bug fix with MC-251518.
This consists of them having 3 wing flapping speeds; Slow, when idle, Medium, when moving, and Fast, when "running." This can be seen in this video:
Likewise, Vex only have one consistent wing speed, regardless if idle, moving, or sprinting, as seen below.
Vex_Wing_Animation.mp4![]()
Idle Bobbing
Allays also have a flying animation when, while idle, their model bobs up and down. Vex do not have this. They can be seen side by side here:
AllayVexBobbing.mp4![]()
Arm Position
As a final note, Allays also move their arms when flying forward and not idling, which Vex do not.

With MC-251518 fixed, the allay's wings flap faster as the allay moves faster. As the allay's velocity increases, the wings start to converge on each other, eventually clipping through each other. The issue becomes even more apparent when the allay quickly flies back to the assigned player or note block.
The issue can be identified more easily by looking through an allay's point of view through spectator mode and using F3+ESC to pause the game and be able to see the allay's wings clearly.
The Bug:
In Java edition, Allays have a rapid fluttering animation when moving quickly, like to an item/player/noteblock, as can be seen here:

In Bedrock however, they lack this animation when moving very quickly:

And there's actually an interesting reason as to why it's like this...
Origin and history of this bug:
Originally in Java, allays had no special wing movement animation. It was one speed and that was it, unlike Bedrock, which has two movement speeds; idle (slow) and moving (medium). This was part of a bug (MC-251518) that was fixed in Java in 22w24a, however the bug had to be reopened as Allays from Java still lacked the higher fidelity animations for their Idle, Movement, and Dancing Allays have on Bedrock.
During this fix however, Java Allays not only got a slow and medium wing movement speed, but also got an additional rapid movement speed when the Allays move especially fast, like when flying to an item, player, or noteblock.
So it went from Java having one and Bedrock having two animations, to Java having three and Bedrock still having two.
The bee's idle animation is different across bedrock and java edition.
Steps to Reproduce:
Repeat both steps in java, and bedrock:
- Spawn a bee
- Hold a poppy
Observed Behavior:
On bedrock, the animation is more animated and fluid, where the bee bobs up and down, and side to side. In java, the bee only bobs up and down when idle.
Expected Result:
Both editions would share the same animation.

Added the new parity issue with the Allay dancing animation added in 22w24a- It felt more appropriate here than a new bug report so I added a few keywords
Still an issue in the latest snapshot, this can be observed easily with the dance animation
Updated with the remaining inconsistencies in 1.20. Most seem to be fixed, it's just the dancing being noticeably lower quality mainly and then the item positioning still being held a bit low
Question- should I change the title of this bug now that it's only the dancing animation and item positioning that need fixing? Or would it be more useful to keep it as-is?
Confirmed with 23w12a
Confirmed with 1.20 Pre-release 6
Confirmed with 1.20.2
