Quasi connectivity is an intended feature, what you described is not really quasi connectivity, it's budded pistons, which are a bug, which got changed as the observer got added.

In fact probably coincidentally, your second screenshot shows an actual bug that pistons behaving as opaque while they should be transparent, but it has also been reported as MCPE-14910.

There is a variation in Minecraft pocket edition where pistons cannot be powered through Quasi Connectivity. See MCPE-14664

Please do not assume that because something isn't the same as other versions that it's a bug. You will see from MCPE-14664 that the pistons in MCPE are indeed different.
If you have a suggestion please head to the Minecraft PE Forums.
[~zebulanstanphill@gmail.com] is right. This is indeed an intended behavior and is a duplicate of MCPE-14664.

(Pocket Edition doesn't feature quasi-connectivity, each piston must be powered directly.)

From your screenshots, it looks as though you are expecting the pistons to be powered in the same way as the Java Edition, which currently has a bug called quasi-connectivity, which is not present in Minecraft (Bedrock Codebase).

This is working as intended. Java and bedrock have different redstone mechanics.

Please do not assume that the differences in behaviors between Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft are bugs.
For example the lack of quasi connectivity in bedrock is working as intended MCPE-14664

The build in the video makes use of a Java Edition behavior known as “quasi-connectivity,” which allows a powered block such as the redstone lamp to activate certain components like pistons as if they were 2 blocks tall like a door. That behavior does not exist in Bedrock Edition. See MCPE-14664.

This is not a bug, see MCPE-14664.
Works as intended, quasi-connectivity is a bug (unfortunately D: )
Tavish McEwen
MC-108(Quasi connectivity) is resolved as intended for PC, but it was a bug, now that pe has the observer, that behaviour is removed. That's sad
. But how does adding the observer justify removing quasi connectivity ? And why is this "invalid" if it works as intended ?
and will PE and PC ever have the same piston mechanics ?
Works as Intended wasn't the resolution, the Invalid resolution was chosen by a [Mod].
Because the observer is littirally a bud, the budded pistons was a bug and the behaviour has been replaced by the observer, need any more justification?
Quasi-connectivity has nothing to do with BUDs, BUDs are just made eaisier with quasi-connectivity. Quasi-connectivity is also used to power pistons in a MUCH simpler and smaller way, for example in a duel dpe you would only need 3 connections to power 6 pistons, but without quasi-connectivity each piston has to be powered separately. Also is the popular piston monostable, witch must be made wider in order to function without qc. Flying machines make for a whole category in themselves.
@FVbico : Tavish is right. Quasi connectivity and BUDs are two different bugs/features. You can make BUDs without QC (e.g stuck piston BUD), and you can use QC without making a BUD (e.g piston monostable). The observer justifies fixing BUDs, but not QC.
Without QC you can't make a jeb door.
This issue Works as Intended. If you have a feature request, head over to the Minecraft: Pocket Edition Forums.
Quasi-connectivity is a feature exclusive to the PC edition.
No quasi connectivity works on all versions of minecraft EXCEPT pocket. I've tested this on PSVita, PS3, Xbox360, XboxONE, and PC by building the jeb door on all those platforms and it works flawlessly. Its a shame pocket has to miss out on this.
Who said it was intended ?

I'll be fine with this as soon as you give a link to a place where the developers say that.
The devs did. I can't link you to it because it is not a public area where the dev said it. Guys, please realize that us mods DO NOT want to get rid of tickets as fast as possible, neither do we try to. When we resolve a ticket, we are physically telling the devs that the ticket doesn't need attention anymore, and we take that seriously. Yes, we make mistakes sometimes, but please trust our inputs. We aren't inexperienced, we ALL have been playing MCPE long before we became a mod, and we are, generally, correct in what we say.
Quasi connectivity is a bug but the devs kept it in the game because java players used it for most contraptions. However that does not mean that it is an intended feature.
I know this has been closed for a long time, but it would be nice if we at least got 1ticking as a result of this, as most monostable circuits either do not work or are too big to implement easily. Pistons ‘forgetting’ blocks is arguably the best feature in pc and I feel bedrock is let down by this. Also not being able to easily build job doors is a massive hit, surely the pistons could be powered through each other with observers (as if one piston was a normal block instead) but this doesn’t happen either. This massively limits the only easy version of Redstone I have
