Maps in item frames have lines through them
What I expected to happen was...:
Placing maps within item frames on a wall should result in a seamless map "jigsaw"
What actually happened was...:
When initially placing the maps they appear to be one continuous map without any breaks or lines between them, however when logging out and back into the world the maps have a think white line between them until removed and re-placed
Steps to Reproduce:
Note: Will only work on Realms and BDS
- Place down 2x2 item frames on any surface
- Place 4 maps (can be the same map - preferrably filled in to show the issue clealy)
- Note no interruptions at the map borders
- Log out and back in to the world
- Note the new lines around each map on each border.
Note:
Does not appear to occur (at least not with the same repro steps) on a Singleplayer world. Can however reliably reproduce (with every log out) on a Realm or BDS install. May also be related to the maps having a pink and black checkerboard briefly when logging in.
Apologies for the alerts watchers, struggled to update this one on my phone ![]()
I was making a map wall and when I rejoined my realm there were lines through the maps I broke them and replaced them but it happened everytime I rejoined. It got annoying the larger my map got. This is on bedrock xbox one 1.11.2 I think, Village and pillage

Can confirm for 1.12.1! This bug has been around for absolute ages, at least since like 1.3 era. very annoying as it ruins the beautiful map walls!
I'd like to bring over my ps4 world when bedrock comes out, but I will be very sad if my awesome maproom, that took weeks to fully complete, has ugly lines all over it. Please fix. We care!
I am playing on xbox one and I don't have this issue it Shows correctly, but when I play with a friend, he has this issue.
Affects 1.13 as well
Having this problem in 1.14.1. Just started tonight. Was never a problem before. SUPER aggravating. I put a lot of work into my map room and now it has Tron lines all over it!
Wish they would fix this eyesore of a bug. Nothing says beautiful maps like bold grid lines cutting through each biome.
Issue still present in 1.16.0.51. This bug is extremely annoying and ruins all map based builds.
Affects 1.16.0.53 on Windows 10 and Android devices.
Brief clip showing it for the 1.16.0.53 Beta on Windows 10 as well as a workaround (simply remove it and re-add it to the wall).

Are there any specific steps to reproduce the issue?
I’m on my phone so forgive the poor formatting
It’s as simple as placing 4 maps in item frames in a 2x2 grid. On initial placement they blend seamlessly like Java. However once you log out and back into the world they get thin lines between each map.
Removing the maps and re-placing them fixes it until the next relog.
Note: it’s not reliant on the 2x2 grid, it’s any pattern that has 2 maps beside each other.
Edit: I've just done some more testing on this and it seems to only affect Realms and BDS. Singleplayer I'm struggling to reproduce it under the same scenario. (Apologies for the double notification)
It's not completely reliable to reproduce on Realm either. I have a "map floor" in my Realm world and sometimes it has the lines and sometimes not, even though I don't do anything (like remove/replace maps) to fix it.
The right-most column and bottom row of pixels on the map seem to be the ones affected, appearing as if they weren't explored. Could be an off-by-one error?
this can occur on users worlds as well I am on a map of my friends right now and this is what I see. the error is due to a off by one pixel of the maps rendering. this happens consistently for me. all resource packs are off. I've tried messing with every video setting. nothing changes. this occurs on personal worlds as well.
