The bug
It is possible to create twisting and weeping vines which are floating / have no support block.
Reproduction steps (lava)
If you quickly put vines in lava, then they will begin to float above it.
Might require rebinding the use block action to a keyboard key and then holding down that key.
Reproductions steps (pistons)
Pushing with two pistons at the same time:
- the supporting block of the vine
- and the second vine block
will result in floating twisting or weeping vines.

I am unable to reproduce this, please provide a screenshot of your game with the F3 debug screen enabled.
I'm still unable to reproduce this, can you reproduce it again, and are you sure that this isn't just the vines staying for a brief moment before getting destroyed? Your game also seems to lag a bit.
I'm able to reproduce it, you just have to click really fast. 2020-08-12 17-48-12.mp4
Can make this by setting the Right Button control to any letter and start putting vines by pressing the current set letter
