I wouldn't call this a bug...
You're placing the two doors next to each other and that's what causes this... This is "double doors" that you see in a multitude of structure designs. You'd rather have a door hinge in thin air than swap it's texture and swing from the other side of the double wide frame? This makes perfect sense to me the way this is working, and no where near a bug if you ask me. Just because you are placing these doors on their own without a "frame" of blocks around them is no excuse...
I disagree.. NOT A BUG!PLEASE, don't change this!

This was a door hung to be 'shut' when open, as I thought that might keep zombies out. Note that the hinges are on the left of the picture, but in the second image the door has opened as if the hinges were on the right.
See also MC-2053, which may be describing the same problem, but I find the phrasing too hard to follow to be sure.

Upon further testing, this also happens with trapdoors and doors. This may be a duplicate. (MC-2053)
Well, the cake bug is caused by an improper model, but MC-2053 is still not fixed.
Duplicate of MC-2053. The locations of the hinges have changed somewhat, and it looks like an attempt was made to fix this, but it's still not completely fixed. The spot in the center of the lower half of the door has always been there, and is most likely intended.
This is only noticeable when using a model that does not specify uv coordinates. That is, one that uses the game's default parametric projections (NOT uv-lock). This is also NOT a model error.
Summary:
Projections on the north, east, and down faces are taken from the south, west, and up faces; they are not taken independently. In 1.9 snapshots the errors form on the east and west faces instead.
Details:
The spruce door in the screenshot uses the custom model (argon_door_generic) attached to this report. The front of the door is the west face and the side of the door is the north face. The north face (side) does not specify uv coords, so the texture should be taken from a projection, logically [13,0,16,16]. Instead, the face uses the coords [0,0,3,16].
As you can also see in the fences, the faces are using the same uv for opposite faces which are in different positions.
Lastly, the altered cube.json splits the cube model into eight small cubes, showing the exact error in the projection. The uv for the north, east, and down faces is the same as the uv for the south, west, and up faces.
The bug affects the north, east, and down faces (east and west faces in 1.9). This is the same bug as MC-45375 , MC-2053 , and MC-190 . This also relates to MC-37106 , the result of (improperly) fixing the bug.
1.7 issues are no longer accepted, since many issues (including this one) have been fixed in 1.8. (Probably MC-2053)

I confirm for 12w49a
I believe this is a bug for pc, Xbox, and pe
Hey tails, see that mini map in the top right corner?
"This ticket is invalid as it relates to a modded or 3rd party client/server.
Any non-standard client/server build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the plugin creator.
This site is for addressing issues related to the base unmodded MineCraft."
This is a direct quote from Tails. So tails is this modified client part of "the base unmodded MineCraft", if not
This is an invalid Ticket, featuring a valid bug. So will you contradict yourself?
Kumasasa has confirmed it in unmodded Minecraft. Please stop telling the mods what to do.
I am not telling anyone what to do. May I ask how the map in the top right is accessible in Unmodded minecraft? If you can point out part that seems bossy, I will reread and consider your perspective and see what I can do to correctly convey what I mean/meant.
The original issue was clearly reported with a modded version of Minecraft, but the fact that Kumasasa has confirmed it in vanilla means it's a Minecraft issue. From what I understood, you were asking for this ticket to be resolved, which is up to the mods to decide. I don't mean to start a long discussion about this.
I checked in vanilla but took the screenshot in modded Minecraft.
Oh I see what you misunderstood, I meant that if the quote from Tails is true than, this being considered a legitimate ticket would contradict Tails and staff here. If you can take Orion Humfrey's word, then I have some beach front property in Arizona to sell you, Anon Ymus. All I wish is that the people in charge would at least a semblance of order, it should not be that hard. Could you Point out where Kumasasa confirms this?
Sure, at the top it says "Confirmation Status: Confirmed" and Kumasasa posted a screenshot about it, so that's who confirmed it.
Oh okay, I see now this makes sense (presuming kumasasa's word is good). The modded screen caps throw off the average user. Thank you Anon Ymus for clearing this up.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
this is still present in current version.
probably related to the bed texture bug
some textures are inverted
Confirmed for 13w48b.
EDIT: Also confirmed for 13w49a and 1.7.3 Pre-Release.
EDIT 2: Confirmed for 1.7.4 (Release and Pre-Release)
It would help if the doors actually had proper texture for the "outsides", rather than just using a section from the "sides"... Even without this bug, that part doesn't look right.
This issue has became more apparent in 1.7.2 and bed texture is still broken.
Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w04b? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
Yes, confirmed. Also with trapdoors and cake.
Still present in 14w10c
Confirmed for 14w29b by
MC-62477Yeah, this problem is still ongoing. The apparent texture of the door appears to be dependent on the cardinal direction, and not the direction relative to how the door is placed. The result is that the location of the doorknob and hinges appears to change when the door is opened and close, and the door often does not appear to open on its hinges. Still a problem in all 1.7.x versions.
Andrew that's not the same bug.
