This issue was created seperately from MC-271767 to allow for it to be resolved/triaged seperately, but is basically the same core issue with all wolf models.

- Download and apply the following resource pack:

Observed Behavior:

The two chests of a donkey and/or mule cannot be independently retextured from one another, making them always look the same. This is limiting to the player's resource pack creativity and freedom to edit the texture.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Download and apply the following resource pack:
DonkeyMule.zip - Spawn/Summon a tamed donkey, or mule:
/summon donkey ~ ~ ~ {Tame:1b} /summon mule~ ~ ~ {Tame:1b}
Observed Behavior:
Both chests will look entirely red, despite the player seemingly only modifying one of them in the UV map.
Expected Result:
Only one of the chests would be altered, since that is what the player intended to change. The current behavior is unexpected and not resource pack friendly.

Can confirm.
I believe wolves were added considerably before 1.4?
This is the same as MC-271767, the collar has the same UV mapping as the base texture; it's an overlayed texture.
The issues were made separate because I was not confident in how 'supported' the collar model overlay would be since it is only used for the collar. I have a strong assumption that if the wolf model were to be 'fixed' with the legs and ears, the overlay would too, but because the overlay has a color provider I figured making a report for both overlay and base model made sense. I don't see a lot of benefit in closing the collar report as a duplicate, but if Mojang feels that's appropriate then I don't have any problem with that.
