Skins are not visible for the person who is hosting a LAN server
Since we are using the snapshot 14w07a in a LAN world (using "Open to Lan" in the game), my friend and I noticed that the person who is hosting the LAN server wasn't able to see the other's skin (who appear's to wear the famous Steve's skin). Whereas on another hand, the "guest" can perfectly see the two skins.
We both tried to host the server to see if it comes from the computer but the problem was the same for both of us.

For me doesn't exist anymore, I play LAN quite frequently and neither
MC-52974nor this issue happen to occur in the prereleases. But better to have one more opinion I think
Just managed to reproduce in 1.13-pre5, but can't tell what I did different than before.
Was it a modded server? And where you the host of the server (if so, it might be MC-49334)?

Your Java version is out of date! Please update your Java to the latest version (1.7.0_51): http://www.java.com/en/download/.
I updated my Java with the version 1.7.0 51, but I still have the same problem.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 14w19a / Launcher version 1.3.11 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
I have an issue that is probably related to this.. other than the person who is hosting can see all custom skins but all guests see the host as Steve
True for whoever is hosting the game, what save file we use (all on 1.7.9 so far)
Also noticed this in the latest snapshots 14w30a-c,14w31a
This issue is occurring in the latest stable release of Minecraft (v. 1.8.1). After updating our skins to the latest template and uploading them to the right template (Steve?'s thick-arm template), countless attempts to host a LAN server inevitably result in the host wearing the default Steve? skin.
Is this still an issue in the current Minecraft Snapshot 15w49b or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
This issue still occurs in Minecraft Snapshot 15w50a, where the lan server host's skin does not load for peers.
Okay, seriously, this bug has been going on for almost 2 years. Is there any word on getting a fix? I've basically stopped playing due to this bug. It seems really crappy to completely overhaul the skin system and make a big deal about it... only to have a major part of it be broken for 2 years.... what was the point of creating this "new skin system" if it doesn't work? It shouldn't be this difficult to solve. I think having working, functional, visible skins is an expected part of the game, which I paid for :/
Can confirm bug still happens in 15w50a snapshot btw
Nyrkle Jerkles that's
MC-52974Thanks, I'll watch that!
Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (currently that is 1.10.2, or 16w42a) of Minecraft? If so, please update the affected versions and help us keeping this ticket updated from time to time.
We tried in 1.10.2, this is still an issue in this version, expect that it is the one who join the LAN server who doesn't see the host's skin.
I attached two screenshots, one for each point of view, to illustrate the bug. Tibotsch is hosting the server and i (Dridriine) cannot see his custom skin.
Thank you for your feedback, Heik. As the reporter of this bug, you can update the affected version(s) yourself, so please try updating this ticket from time to time.
@Heik This sounds like the same issue I had, before I realized it was just a firewall issue. Check to make sure java for minecraft is allowed to pass through. If your Internet is private, make sure it actually says so because for some reason mine says it is public even though it is for a household, so I guessed it was private. I let it go through private internet but I had this problem where not even the Host could see the guest skins nor their own. There is a related bug where the host's skin is never visible but they can always see the guests'.
MC-52974I am trying to understand the difference between these two issues. I originally thought that in yours, the Host cannot see the Guests' but what you said recently made me think of the other bug which is of the opposite. Conclusion: Make sure your java is allowed to go through your firewall. BUT make sure it is going through the one that your internet is marked as, whether it be private or public. Public is not recommended as it says, but for me I had no choice, I knew it was the house internet so it is okay (don't know how to change it). Hope this helps! If not my bad.
for me too
What's the difference between
MC-52974andMC-49334?MC-49334is about hoster not seeing skins of other playersMC-52974is about others not seeing hoster's skinSunCat I see, thanks!
Is this issue co-fixed with
MC-52974in 18w21a ?Or is this even still an issue in 1.12.2 ? There are no new reports on this ticket.
[Helper] Lord_Quadrato, did you experience that issue before
MC-52974got fixed? When I think about it, I didn't experience the issue all the way through the 1.13 snapshots, although I did not play LAN in the first few, because things were so unstable my friends and I didn't have fun. The last I got it was a while ago in 1.12.2
Could not reproduce for 1.13.1.
Is this still a issue in the latest version of the game(currently 1.13.1)?
If so, please add it to the affected versions, thanks!
