@batmanstanley this ticket is for textures turning pink after playing for long periods of time on featured servers. The specific issue you mentioned is being tracked at MCPE-180342
This issue might be fixed once and for all in 1.21. A few weeks ago, in Preview 1.21.0.22, Mojang added an experimental toggle under video settings called "Remove Texture Limit" which essentially removes the texture limit responsible for causing the pink glitch and continues to assign the game new textures, rather than hitting a texture limit and assigning it pink textures.
Stated on Preview 1.21.0.22 changelog:
- New experimental toggle added in Video settings menu to remove texture limit and load textures instead of using the "pink texture" called "Remove Texture Limit". Textures will continue to load until the system exhausts all available graphics memory
It can also best be assumed that this toggle will fix MCPE-180342 as well.
However, this toggle is experimental, and we don't know that performance issues after awhile while having it enabled aren't possible.

Did this occur on a server MCPE-167489? or did it occur whilst using multiple add-ons MCPE-180342?
A possible fix for this is by enabling the "Remove Texture Limit" under Settings > Video.

If replacing one add-on with another add-on, the game can crash in certain places in that world.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Get two add-ons
- Put one on a world
- Replace the current add-on with another add-on
- The game crashes in certain places
Expected Result:
The game runs fine, it doesn't crash every 5 minutes.
Note: On Nintendo Switch, the issue is worst, the game just closes instead. This issue is not caused by specific add-ons. It's also not a duplicate of MCPE-180342. The add-ons were from the Marketplace.

Relates to MCPE-167489
I attempted reproducing this on Windows in 1.21.0.21 and was unsuccessful. Is it really necessary to activate 40+ add-ons to reproduce this? I ran my tests using all 8 free add-ons from the marketplace and encountered no issues.
Could you be a bit more specific on how many is "a large number" of add-ons? It'd be interesting to note if there's any threshold where things start to become corrupt.
@kr_ I can provide you with my world for you to test, this happens with several addons, to get an idea if you put all the current addons on the marketplace (currently around 30) the error occurs
@KR_ I believe the limit is in the 14-18 range as when you go over the amount with resource packs. You cannot copy/download a realm at that threshold. My personal realms limit was 14 packs but it may depend on other factors as well. It also may not just be addons that cause this.

My limit is 18 resource packs active at once. I believe it may have to do with bedrocks rendering software "renderdragon" not having enough space/memory available to meet with the usage of add-ons and texture packs. This limit is the same no matter what. The only fix is the not using the add-ons/texture packs. I'm not saying it only happens when you use both as it does happen when you only use add-ons but I'm combining them due to both being considered "resource packs". maybe if they were able to lift the cap depending on certain specs or a setting to give it more could be a solution.
I have a realms, this error occurs on my cell phone or computer or any other platform, a Minecraft error, I'm completely discouraged from playing this game, spending money on something I can't use, it's absurd

as there is not a very high amount of add-on when opening the world you will see everything ok, but when OPENING YOUR INVENTORY you will see your WHOLE inventory buggy and pink, and when you try to leave the world, your minecraft will close and will not save your progress in the created world
I paid for these addons, I think it's a shame that I can't use them in my realms, as they break Minecraft

I believe it's related, the game crashes when loading too many things at the same time, they say Java is worse, well, Java doesn't have this error
I tried to reproduce this issue but the game just closes, basically what you said in the second paragraph.
One of my friends on IOS Minecraft said that it happened to them with only 6 add-ons, bugging a few blocks like mangrove propagules, leaves and fences.

Tried reproducing issue on console (Nintendo Switch) with 15 add-ons with 'Remove Texture Limit' on and textures were fine.
When Realms Plus gets more add-ons I'll try reproducing it again.

I'm glad this option helped you, this option works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't, it depends on your platform, with my PS4 friends this option doesn't work unfortunately
I just added 2 Add-Ons to my Realm and Deactivated 2 Add-Ons as well (basically replacing them), I've tried to join my Realm twice now and the game just closes.
This happened on Nintendo Switch Realms with these add-ons:

Furniture Add-on by xp games
MORPH Add-on (the one originally called Morph Gauntlet add-on)
DEACTIVATED:
Another Furniture by Starfish Studios
Mob Armor Add-on
I'll try removing Spark Portals and see what happens.

Then the game just closes itself.
Since I do use a Nintendo Switch to play Minecraft, this may be an issue with it not being able to handle all the Add-Ons
I did fly over an area which previously had blocks from the Another Furniture add-on, maybe it just didn't remove the add-on properly.
Sadly I don't own an Xbox or a PC, so I can't just move to on of them to sort of fix the issue.

This error is more detected on your Switch but that doesn't mean that your Switch is to blame, it's Mojang's fault for letting so many addons be released in their game without even testing what would happen if they added several addons (which are paid so it's even more absurd that you pay for addons and can't use them) but basically they are to blame for adding so many addons to their game through the marketplace and not even testing what happens if they are added in a single world... but even after players reported this error, it's been months... and no fix, for example, I bought several addons months ago and simply lost my money and threw it away, because I wanted to play with these addons and I simply can't because my game doesn't work with these addons, I got stressed and I don't even want to play this garbage anymore.
Does this effect the latest preview?
I know you say that it affects all versions of Minecraft, but I'm just checking

All versions are currently affected, but to different degrees. In the preview version of the game, the option to remove texture limits is already turned on by default, at least it is turned on by default at the time I am sending this message to you. This makes the pink texture errors, closing the game, etc. happen much less in this version. It is worth testing to see if this version is not bugging you, because for me it works and only bugs sometimes.
Hey guys after reading all your comments, my problem with the pink/magenta textures started when i added deco mods as some of you have too.
Checking and removing some mods i found that the ANOTHER FURNITURE ADDON by Starfish Studios was the culprit, i did not activate the texture limit option.
It was a free addon anyways.

The problem is that it's not the addons that are to blame, the culprit is Minecraft because even with other addons in place, at some point it will give pink textures anyway if you keep adding addons to your world.

Did you do this on one world, or did you do test it on multiple worlds? After some of my testing, I found that this bug happens to different degrees across different worlds.

MCPE-185254.I have heard that it has to do with the texture atlas the game uses maybe some changes to this could fix the issue?

I have found out that it could not be to do with the number of the addons, because recently I replaced one add-on with another addon, but this doesn't change the number of addon s on that world. As @Lucas225 said, it's not the addon s causing the problem, it's Minecraft. (mojang plz fix soon!!)
As i have reported many times before i believe this issue is with how Minecraft's rendering system/Renderdragon handles textures and texture memory/storage. As what this glitch essentially is blocks not having a texture rendered. The reason its a big issue is that its effecting vanilla blocks ,ui and the death screen. It happens when your system/Renderdragon has used the maximum memory it can and assigns any new loaded block/menu that is encountered after the limit is reached to the pink texture. Removing the memory limit makes it less common but it can still happen. But as add-ons add more things that use memory the issue can become common with them. The issue is entirely Minecraft's issue as it is a error with textures and how they are assigned. Another reason why our first guesses at it being add-ons were wrong were that Add-ons sizes vary. If you combine more large load add-ons you can expect to see it more. But its not the true cause.

Yes, I've known about this error for some time now. It's more related to the amount and size of textures added to the game than to the addons themselves. And yes, the error isn't due to the addons or anything like that. The error is due to Mojang's Minecraft game, which has an active texture limiter that's being added as a useless option to the game that shouldn't even be an option, but rather an already active update that couldn't be turned off because it doesn't even make sense. However, an option is being added to turn off this texture limit, but unfortunately it doesn't work on consoles yet, only on computers and cell phones. I hope this nonsense is fixed soon, because paying for content and not being able to use it is in fact a joke to the community of this game. This basic error has been in the game for a long time and hasn't been fixed. It should be fixed once and for all with a simple update removing this useless texture limit placed on the game by Mojang.
Having the exact same issue, anytime I reach roughly 20 add-ons the game starts breaking, lag, everything pink. I had 50 at one time before but now it won't even make it past 20. Anyway, it'd be nice if they addressed this issue because I bought every add-on and can't even use them now. Thanks for such a thorough report by the way, hopefully they actually look into this sooner rather than later.
My personal limit is 14-16. Mojang, fix this sooon plz
This problem also happens on PC even with the texture limit turned off, my limit was around 45-55 before stage 1 started happening. My limit isn't consistent though, sometimes I open my world and some textures are missing, and other times no textures are missing. I've only added resource packs and no addons.
So I've gotten up to 66 Add-ons. I don't know if they fixed an issue or if I'm just lucky but here's what I did and maybe it'll work for you or maybe not. I completely uninstalled Minecraft and all the add-ons and that deleted all my worlds then I reinstalled Minecraft and downloaded all the Add-ons again and created a new world, added between 5-15 at a time mostly smaller file sizes and after each of those made a copy and tested adding more, made it to 66 now with the only issue being Spongebob Add-on not displaying messages and a little bit of lag but that may be a separate issue. Hopefully it works for you. I'm on Windows 11 and using Minecraft Bedrock from the Microsoft store.You may want to export your worlds to move over or do it completely fresh which I'd recommend as that's what I did. Hopefully it works for you as well and here's to hoping the issue doesn't reappear.
So, just a small update on the situation, I was up to 66 Add-Ons and it was working for a day or two but I was getting horrendous lag, such as eating, I would have to hold the button to eat at least 2-4 second longer than normal and the food bar would go up then down then up again. and everything running real slow. Also, after a day or two playing the game is stuck in a continuous cycle of crashing. So, as far as the pinkness, that's gone for me but with so many add-ons, I even removed about 12 of them I'm getting constant lag and crashing. So all in all I'm about fed up with it and am just going to use a few add-ons on each world and throw in the towel on using mass amounts of add-ons.
The easiest fix is increasing the texture limit, or making the textures be processed in a way that would make a texture limit obsolete.
One final update because I'm just done with this issue but for the record, I got one world to work without it turning pink but then there was horrible lag and crashes and the next world I made did in fact have the same Pink issue again. Sometimes you can remove the most recent add-on and it goes back to working but sometimes it doesn't. So.... I give up on this, need more people with this issue to come forward or they'll never look into it.
Also, I have already fiddled with every possible video setting available both on my laptop and in-game on both PE and Bedrock to no avail.
Mojang please, I ask as a fan of this game, moderators do not delete my message please, I spent a lot of money on addons, and I was very discouraged that I could not use these addons that I bought, I spent more than a thousand reais on addons.. please be ashamed and fix this error, I will not play Minecraft anymore until this error is resolved, and I warned all my friends not to buy addons until this error is resolved, because I do not want anyone to waste money like me.

This still seems to be an issue as of the latest stable version (1.21.51 Hotfix). A user on reddit was able to reproduce this on their realm with about 17 Add-Ons. They are playing on their Xbox Series S. According to their post, players are unable to join and are suffering from the "Pink Texture Glitch".
The limit is not far fetched as other games do have a similar limit.

Yes, it's absurd from the moment that the game has had an error for almost a year and from the moment that we spend our money to get addons and other things and we simply can't use them, and this limit is so common in other games that we see several pink errors all the time in several games, right? So far I've only had this problem with Minecraft, could you mention other games that have texture errors due to texture limits?
While it is not exactly a texture error games like fallout and skyrim that allow mods on console as similar as add-ons also have a download and usage limit. i wasn't saying the error is common practice but the limit itself is in the few allowances of mods/add-ons. Fallout as well has payed content similar to add-ons that costs their currency that is pooled into the 3rd party mods limit. While i do find it ridiculous a block game has the most issues with texture in the modern day. It is one of the few games that allow mods/3rd party additions. B4 this gets deleted cause its off topic. The only other games that does this is fallout and skyrim, and even then texture errors happen sometimes.
