Only some things on the list of affected block should be placed on end rods just like the Java bug report:
- Item Frames
- Glow Item Frames
- Cake
- Banners
Confirmed for all but Armor Stand, places fine for me. (Make sure there's enough space.)
Boat can only be placed on water, so I removed that one.
Just tested - you can place boats, both on land and on end rods
item frames are not blocks.

This is made all the stranger when you consider that all of these can be placed on chains and lightning rods, which have very similar shapes / hitboxes
