Camera movement stutters when turning in a boat
The bug
Mouse movement has noticeable jittering when sitting still or turning in a boat. Exiting the boat and performing the same actions results in perfectly smooth and consistent movement of the camera (high precision mouse sensor on a smooth surface is recommended, otherwise it might be more difficult to notice).
How to reproduce
- Get in any type of boat
- Point the crosshair to one specific point (a tree, for example)
- Steer the boat side to side, while trying to keep the crosshair as still as possible
→
The camera is jittering and stuttering
This issue also persists when sitting still (not moving the boat at all), and even with cinematic camera enabled.

relates to
This may duplicate MC-122731
Ismael Rosillo Yeah correct, but it may duplicate MC-122731. Because if you watch the video attached to the report, you will realize that its the same bug this report describes, but you are indeed correct, MC-122731 does mainly focus on camera jittering/stuttering so it could just relate to MC-122731.

It isn't actually a duplicate of
MC-122211. That was issue in 17w47b and it was fixed in 17w48a. The camera and the Boats are not jittering or having any issues when controlling in 17w48a.This is another issue / bug related to crosshair / mouse movement while in a Boat (standing still or moving).
Hm, okay. I reopened it but can't reproduce in 17w48a.
Can somewhat confirm it. It's not easy to notice.
Yes, I totally agree. It's not very easy to notice right away (and / or feel something like that with the mouse movement), but in some situations can be more noticeable and obvious than others. Maybe depends on various factors, between different players and etc. But definetly not related to specific hardware / drivers / peripherals.
This does not only happen on the boat as it seems to be an amplified version of what happens when merely moving on my end.

Seems like 19w11a made this much worse.
Can confirm; this is especially noticeable when rotating a boat in 19w11a
Removing my vote as I cannot reproduce this issue any more - some dust had collected in the sensor recess of the mouse. This most notably affected movement in Minecraft and was barely noticable elsewhere. Perhaps Minecraft is my yardstick for mouse sensitivity.
Edit: The effect was definitely present in 19w11a, but it feels like it wears down after moving around in a boat for a couple of seconds.
Henk Langeveld Double checked and tested everything thoroughly, I can reproduce it consistently in the latest snapshot (currently 19w14b). Updated the information and the video demonstrating the issue.
Can confirm that this is still an issue in 20w51a.
Can confirm in 21w03a.
