Invisible armor stands cannot be hit
I used this command
/summon ArmorStand ~ ~ ~ {Invisible:1,NoGravity:1,ShowArms:1}
and it worked fine, like on the screenshot, but i can't "kill" it without commands, its look invulnerable even in creative, i need to use /kill @e[type=ArmorStand,c=1] to kill it...

WAI per Searge from MC-66068:
Invisible armor stand can't be destroyed by hitting them.
And why? I mean I can still interact with them by rightclick, that makes no sense!
Confirmed for
- 1.8
Even if it is intended, because ofMC-66068it is probably then not intended, that they still "block" blockplacing and destroying
I think this should be reopened. On MC-66068, Searge said that this was so you couldn't destroy them by hitting them. But as it is, they are completely invincible, which doesn't make sense. I would like it if Mojang at least confirmed that this was supposed to happen, as it makes the "Invulnerable" tag redundant and is a real pain for mapmakers.
Invisible armor stands are intentionally invincible, as per MC-66068.
This would be a duplicate of MC-66068. Go next to an armorstand that you do not want and run the command /kill @e[type=minecraft:armor_stand,distance=..2].
[Mojang] Searge (Michael Stoyke) marked MC-66068, which this report is resolved as a duplicate of, as Works as Intended. Any new reports would also be resolved as duplicates of MC-66068. The bug tracker is simply not the correct avenue to convince Mojang to change this, and I would recommend pursuing other means of building support for such a change, such as the feedback site or the suggestions subreddit.

Duplicate of MC-66068, intended. You can still kill them with /kill.

Invisible armor stand can't be destroyed by hitting them.
they automatically become invulnerable when invisible?
Still an issue in 1.8.3. Invisible armor stands are invulnerable to all damage, not just punching. Should be reopened.
Issac,
Resolved as intended by a Mojang employee doesn't equal a reopen.
Searge said that this was so you couldn't destroy them by hitting them. But as it is, they are completely invincible, which doesn't make sense. I would just like it if Mojang confirmed that this was supposed to happen, as it makes the "Invulnerable" tag redundant.
Dupe of
MC-65532.Confirmed for
Well, this is annoying.
Invisible armor stands can ONLY be invulnerable, as others have said.
I'm not sure why armor stands would not be hurt by punching anyways as Searge would suggest.... just seems like an arbitrary and unneeded exception, considering that the invulnerable tag can be set. I'm not sure what purpose having an invisible armor stand non-punchable but say hit with a sword or arrow, would really serve that couldn't be achieve some other way (testfor item stand, when false check player's selected item for sword or bow?).... or even if there was why this would be the default state.
Like a lot of Mojang's decisions, there is absolutely no use for this one. They have a tag specifically for preventing damage, and then they ignore it. And they only ignore it for the one entity, other entities can be damaged perfectly well while invisible. This sort of decision making is what makes me worried about Minecraft's future.
By the way mods, this is a dupe of
MC-65532. Although since Searge commented on this report, maybe it should be the main one.Is there a particular reason anyone is worked up over this? What use are you hoping to put invisible armor stands to that is frustrated by them being invincible? Yes, this is less flexible. Yes, it's inconsistent. [Mojang] Searge (Michael Stoyke) had a particular use case in mind for invisible armor stands, and being able to damage them wasn't useful, so he just made them automatically invincible, rather than require the use of that tag as well. Basically, he made one use case require less work, at the cost of flexibility. Now, I agree that's kind of out of the norm for Minecraft, and maybe in conflict with the spirit of the game. But nobody's going to convince him of that by arguing semantics or trying to twist his words. I think the best chance you have of changing his mind is to propose something cool that you could do with invisible armor stands if they weren't invincible.
Well I doubt he actually reads the comments, but for example, it makes it impossible to use them as left click-detectors.
Im working on a Counter Strike type mini-game and i want so of the iron bars from the ventilation to break when the ArmorStands inside them are killed so having ArmorStands take damage while invisible would be a necessity for me.
So I was working on throwable TNT in Minecraft 1.14 when I came across this issue. I would really appreciate it if you guys could make it vulnerable when invisible cause, in my case, I shoot snowballs and use the armour stand to track said Snowball. Now when I spawn TNT where the snowball lands I would expect the armour stand to be destroyed by the TNT, however, since it doesn't do that, I have to now use the long way with the "OnGround" tag and a scoreboard which just takes more time and cmd blocks to set up, and becomes a severe pain when you try making it multiplayer friendly (I'm not even going to try and think about it lol).
On the flip side (if it were changed to vulnerable), to make it invulnerable, it would take a single tag.
So I would love it if you guys could make it vulnerable.
I am making a seeking missile where an invisible armor stand moves to the player while it is making particle effects every tick. it kills the player upon impact, but I want the player to be able to kill the missile, but its impossible. I would really appreciate if you guys could make it breakable.
Sometimes I do scenes with armor stands in creative and it would be much easier for me to delete them with a punch than with commands. If the armor stands are very close to each other the command usually deletes the wrong one and it's much worse if I mistype the command and end up deleting all of them, the /kill command can cause a lot of damage if misused. At least for me this is just frustrating.
