MCL-1421Selecting Alpha 1.2.0 version launches Alpha 1.2.0_02 instead
NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE OLD VERSION OF THE GAME SPECIFICIALLY. THIS IS BECAUSE THE VERSION OF THE GAME IN QUESTION IS MISLABELLED ON THE MOJANG SERVERS AND ALSO THE LAUNCHER AS A RESULT. This ticket may be moved the the WEB project if more applicable.
When I was trying out the new launchers recent support for alpha and earlier versions of Minecraft, I was trying to try out the first version I ever used, Alpha 1.2.0. In the drop-down there is the 3 versions of Alpha 1.2.0: 1.2.0, 1.2.0_01 and 1.2.0_02. When trying to pick plain 1.2.0 the launcher gives no indication of an error and proceeded to launch, however the version launched reports 1.2.0_02 in game.
Picking Alpha 1.2.0_01 behaves correctly and launches 1.2.0_01, and same with picking Alpha 1.2.0_02, it launches Alpha 1.2.0_02 correctly.

Seconding for reopen.
This is not an issue with the client itself. This is an issue with the launcher. The launcher has 1.2.1_01 listed twice; one as 1.2.1 with no underscore. Hence it is filed under MCL-, as opposed to MC-. This was demonstrated clearly in the description of the issue with provided evidence showing the files to be identical. The solution wuld be to remove the duplicate 1.2.1 (no underscore) from the launcher catalog.
Both 1.2.1 and 1.2.1_01.jar are binarically identical, as proved by the identical hashes.
The same is true for MCL-1421.

Hello Cameron! I'm sorry that this is an issue. We're tracking this issue as MCL-1421, but it unfortunately will not be fixed (unless the launcher developers decide to reopen the report).

I have a copy of the original Alpha 1.2.0
Hi,
The reason way _xx is not shown in the launcher is due to that the MC game does not send that data over to the launcher.
Due to that reason, I will close this bug,
MCL-9282andMCL-9590.Mojang does not support the Alpha version anymore.
Should be reopened, this isnt a bug with Alpha, is just a naming issue. See comments on
MCL-9282.Seconding for reopen. This is a problem with the launcher, not the old game version.
